The group split them up. Aaron was in a car, ahead of Lorelei, accompanied by Glenn, Michonne, and Rick. Lorelei was in the RV with everyone else. They were driving down North 23, against Lorelei's wishes.
Her wrists were still bound as she sat on one of the couches up front, across from her sat the young boy, while he held his sister. Lorelei couldn't help stare at the two. They were just children, from what she had seen the boy was capable, but nevertheless a child.
A child who was forced to live in a world where the dead ate the living, and people killed, stole, and raped, and didn't think twice about their actions, they just threw their morals away. She had no idea what the boy or the group had been through, but she could guess it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
"What?'' Carl asked, noticing how her eyes lingered on him.
"Nothing," she replied, tearing her eyes away.
"You were staring"
"Yeah well you're holding a baby, it's kinda hard not to."
"Right"
"Hey don't talk to her, don't talk to him," Daryl spoke firmly, to Carl, and harshly to Lorelei.
"Why? She's tied up?" The boy questioned. The boy wasn't naive, but she was restrained and there were plenty of people around, the odds of her doing something to endanger him or his sister were very small.
"He's right you know even if I wanted to do something, which I don't, I wouldn't be able to," Lorelei spoke defending herself.
"Don't matter." the hunter spoke, his permanent scowl on his face.
"You know, you're a real ray of sunshine." She teased with a smile, causing the boy to let out a quiet laugh, that he quickly covered with a cough once Daryl looked in his direction. She turned to Carl, "So what's your name?"
"Carl, why?" he answered.
"No reason just wanted something to address you as other than cowboy," she shrugged.
"Cowboy?"
"Yeah, you know, because of your..."
"Son of a dick!" Abraham yelled in frustration from the driver's seat of the RV as the whole vehicle came to an abrupt stop.
"What's going on?" Daryl asked, walking over to him.
"A bunch of walkers making a clusterfuck up the road, our companions just got stuck."
"Alright turn back around."
"Shouldn't we help them?" Rosita asks, referring to the car of four up ahead.
He looked over at Maggie who sat at the RV table with a grim look on her face before looking through the front windshield, "Nah, too far up ahead, it'd just cause more trouble, they got it." Daryl replied, no doubt in his voice.
"Okay, so we turn around, and then what?" Rosita questioned him. He scratched his chin, thinking of a plan while Abraham worked on backing up the RV to turn it around.
"You still got that flare gun?" asked Lorelei referring to the flare gun that they found in her and Aaron's pack.
Daryl looked at her, nodding, "Yeah, why?"
"Look," she started, "I know we're not exactly besties right now, but Aaron is with your friends and I care about him. So I have an idea." Daryl grunted raising his eyebrows telling her to continue, "There's a water tower not far from here, we go there, fire a flare, your friends will come running, and on the way, you guys help me find the other friend I got out here, he was supposed to keep to that route."
"How do we know this ain't a trap set by your people?" questioned Daryl with narrowed eyes.
"Go in with your guns up for all I care, you got me right? You think it's a trap, now you have a hostage, it's not a trap, it's a good plan." she sighed, "Come on, what else are you gonna do?"
He stared at her thoughtfully, he looked around the room for confirmation from his group, once he saw Maggie and Abraham nod in agreement he turned back to Lorelei, "Alright we're going, where is it, show me on the map." he said while he took out a knife cutting the ties on her wrists "Try anything, I'll gut ya."
"Got it."
