Prologue

They were separated by an ocean. The Indian Ocean to be exact. One was a Punjabi Sikh the other an Australian orphan with no faith. The fabled shot in Sarajevo brought them together, in war.

Sometimes war brings about the rarest of friendships. Rare but strong.

A man once said that you were lucky to ever meet a true love, a true teacher, and a true friend. And it takes a true man (or woman) to recognize his fortune.

But every story has a beginning. So let me first take you to the two places where every thing began. A small house in the golden fields of Punjab and the dingy Orphanage in the poorly lit streets of Sydney.

This is the story of Jangbir Singh and Alastair Fletcher. A story of two true friends. One may even say brothers.
