Snow

Today was a rare day in Troll Village.

It was snowing outside.

It was officially after Christmas, and everyone has been dying to see the sparkly precipitation fall slowly and majestically from the sky before the holiday arrived.

And their wish came true.

Before they went to enjoy the cold weather though, they were supplied with fluffy and leafy boots to cover their feet so they wouldn't have walk barefoot on the snow.

Meanwhile, Poppy, the most excited and ecstatic of all, was walking along the white and fluffy ground now covered with snow, watching her village enjoy themselves with a smile beamed across her face.

She continued walking and also saw her friends building a snowman together or either having a snowball fight, making her smile even more.

She stopped walking when she felt a pair of warm gloves cover her eyes and heard a soft, masculine voice say, "Hey".

The Queen beamed with joy, knowing exactly who it was, and took the gloved hands covering her eyes into hers, turning around.

It was Branch. Her best friend.

With no hesitation, she grinned and tackled the blue troll into the fluffy snow, wrapping her arms around him, Branch falling backward with an "umph!"

He looked down at her as she buried her face in his neck and chuckled.

"What was that for? You acted like you haven't seen me in years." He said jokingly and sat up, still holding Poppy in his arms.

"I just thought you weren't gonna come out after all the times I asked you." She smiled sheepishly.

"Well I figured that even if it's freezing, out here, it won't be so bad. And it does look pretty nice out here too." The blue troll shrugged.

She giggled and hit his shoulder playfully and lightly, receiving a warm smile from him. The snow wasn't the only thing that was pretty outside.

"And that's why we always have hot cocoa afterwards!" Poppy smiled and got up, grabbing Branch's hand and pulling her up with him.

"Riiight." He said jokingly again.

Poppy rolled her eyes playfully and began at him for a few seconds.

He stared back at her, watching her slowly walk close to him, and his heart beat slowly began to speed up.

"..Poppy-"

He was stopped when the Pink troll lightly pushed him into the snow and laughed and ran off.

"Ohhh so that's how it's gonna be is it? Game on." He said to himself and smirked, getting up and dusting snow off himself and running after his best friend.

Poppy hid herself behind a tree, holding a snow ball in her gloved hand.

Branch stopped running and looked around, she was now nowhere to be seen.

"I know you're around here Poppy." He said, crossing his arms, smirking, still looking around.

No response. And still nowhere to be seen.

The blue troll began to think, and thought of an idea.

Poppy snickered silently to herself, thinking her best friend would never find her, until-

And I see you're true colors shinin through..

She heard him sing and her smile faded, and she turned around.

I see you're true colors.. he sang once more.

And that's why I love you.. Poppy hadn't realized she sang along until she gasped and covered her mouth with her open hand, revealing herself in her hiding spot.

"Aha! Always works." Branch smirked and walked over to her.

"Alriiiight you found me. Just have this, okay?" She held something behind her back, shifting it around lightly as she began backing up.

Branch looked at her confused, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh-"

Poppy threw a snowball at him and smirked and ran off again.

"Alright, you've had your fun." The blue troll protested and ran after her again.

She tried to run faster, but she was  starting to get a bit tired and slowed down to catch her breath.

But she squealed when she fell to the ground by someone pushing her.

She looked up to see her crush (yep, I said it) laying on top of her.

"Where you gonna go now?" Branch smirked again, panting from running so much.

Poppy rolled her eyes playfully.

"Alright, you win." She gave in, staring into his eyes, as he stared back into hers.

The two sat in their same position for a while as they felt the snow falling onto them.

Finally, they both slowly began to lean in, pressing their lips to each other lightly.

Poppy immediately melted into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling her heart beat rapidly, and despite how cold it was outside, her face was heating up.

Branch sat up and held her close by her waist, still kissing her softly, as he felt her move her hands from around his neck to his chest.

They both pulled away shortly after, looking back into each other's eyes.

Poppy bit her lip and blushed madly. Man, Branch was an expert at kissing.

She looked at his hair and saw snow collided with it.

"You got some snow there." She said dusting it off with her hand, smiling.

"I'm pretty sure you have way more snow in your hair than me." He joked, letting her dust the snow off of him even though he didn't care if it was there or not.

"Then I'll get it." She said and giggled.

She then smiled and rested her forehead against his, as they both sat in the snow, letting it fall onto them.

"So um, this means were dating right? Because in my book it does." Branch joked again, stroking her hair gently.

Poppy rolled her eyes playfully.

"Yes Branch, we're dating." She said as if he was desperate for an answer, which he was, but he didn't show it.

"Great, then that means I can do this." Branch began to place sweet and soft kisses all over her face, and the Pink Troll squealed in response, smiling uncontrollably.

Poppy pushed her crush into the snow lightly and pressed her lips against his again, feeling him return the kiss happily.

The two had liked each other for a long time now, but they didn't let either of them know that. At least for right now.

And as cold as it was outside, it was nothing against the burning love they had for each other.
