The Story
Nick's POV
"After we got to hospaital they ran some tests on her. She got sugry right away; after a month she was put into physical therapy. They said that she would be fine for nationals. When we asked if she was alright to go she said she was fine, but she told me that there was some suddon pain in her leg. I said what she shouldn't do it be she said that it was only a little and nothing she couldn't handle. The day of nationals she went out there and did the first part easily, but when she went into the backflip I gussed that the pain came in and it took her by surprise. She didn't land it right and fell on her back. She laid there and....I remember going on stage to see if she was ok and she said it hurt. She couldn't move and she was in too much pain to say anything."
There was a silence. No one knew what to say, so I contuined.
"She was in the hospaital for about three weeks and she was on crutchs for two mouths. Brook wasn't the same after that. She didn't talk and barely ate anything; it didn't help that it was all over the news too. When she got better she was scared that something would happen and....she quit the team. It was a shame too. She was top of her class and the one to beat. Other kids weren't even close to what she could score. She slowly healed and was able to dance and tumble again, but not on stage in front of people."
I remember the day Brook told me she wouldn't dance again. I'm not sure if it was more heart breaking to me, or to her. I'll admit, though we fight day in and day out, she's definitely the better dancer. Though I've got at least a year on her, she's the one who continued to dance, and I went into acting. Brook had done a little dancing after she quit, but it was never a full routine, and if she did dance, it was in front either me, or Dylan. We both tried to convince Brooklyn that she was perfectly fine to go back to the stage, but Brook is what I like to call stubborn. But after what I saw in this morning, I think she's finally going to go back to what she loves doing the most.
Brooklyn's POV
I left the theater to get some air and to clear my head, from dance, and all the boys' questions when I walked out. I missed dancing, a lot, and yes, I know it's weird for me to be on a touring Broadway show, but that's different kind of dancing, I guess....it's complicated. To this day I can feel the sharp pain in my leg every now and then. As hard as I tried to tell myself that it's in my head, there's always that "what if?"
As I'm walking down the street I noticed a music store that was up a head. I knew that was a sign for me to go in and calm down, besides dance, music has always been a safe haven for me. I walked in and sure enough there's a piano. I walked over and brushed my fingers over the keys.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" I heard someone ask.
"I was just wondering if I could play something quickly. It helps me clear my head." I explained nervously. I know most stores don't allow people to play the piano, and it wasn't like I had my guitar just sitting in the hotel room. Besides, I needed some fresh air to clear my head.
"Be my guest," he said.
I nodded in thanks then sat down and played a few cords before playing a actual song. I looked around and the man has left to the back room. So I took this time to sing alone to the cords.
The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
And I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless that should send me running
But I kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me just
Close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of
Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
'Cause I see, sparks fly, whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby
As the lights go down
Gimme something that'll haunt me whenever you're not around
'Cause I see, sparks fly, when you smile
I played and started to really get into it. When I was on crutches and pretty much couldn't do anything I taught myself how to play the old piano that was collecting dust in the room that I called 'the junk room'.
I run my fingers through your hair
And watch the lights go wild
Just keep on keeping your eyes on me
Its just wrong enough to make it feel right
And lead me up the staircase
Won't you whisper soft and slow
And I'm captivated by you baby
Like a fireworks show
I plays few more keys before finishing. And the I heard clapping. At first I thought it was Nick, he always knew where to find me. But when I turned around I was surprised when I saw it was- "Sky, what're you doing here?" I asked.
"I was just walking when I saw you in here playing and singing so pretty," he replied with a soft smile. I smiled back as he took a seat on the bench and stated playing. Or at least tried.
"Ok, I'm guessing you don't know what you're doing," I said with a laugh.
"Not at all," he replied before trying again. I laughed then said, "Follow my lead." I put my hands on the keys and he put his hands on top of mine. I tried hard not to blush. Wait...what?Anyways I did a simple C scale. I laughed while showing him because he kept doing a very bad and off key vocal warm up.
"How is it possble that you're on Broadway and you can't even do a simple scale?" I asked while holding in my laugher.
Sky just shrugged innocently before changing the subject. "So, you can sing, dance, act, play piano and tumble, what next? Flam throwing?" he asked with a smirk, one that would most likely be the end of me. Ok what is wrong with my brain right now?
"Depends. You wanna be my next target?" I asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. In a matter of moments Sky's face got the most scared look I ever saw. Wow, this boy is sure easy to prank. I gotta remember that the next time I want to mess with him. But, with Sky having a pranking reputation, it probaby wouldn't be the best that idea. Well...that plus the fact I'm out numbered by a bunch of guys, and there's only five of us girls. Six if you count little Wren, but I fon't think Meredith would like her daughter being in evolved in a prank war "Hey, I'm kidding," I said as I nudged his shoulder with mine.
"Nick told us what happened," Sky said, changing the subject. Again. "Sorry that happened."
"You don't have to be sorry, it's in the past now," I replied. "Anyways, we should get back to the theather."
"Yeah, let's go before Nick finds out you were alone with a boy." we both laughed before leaving the music shop. As we were walking back to the theater we found out a lot about each other. He made me laugh, and I annoyed him like a sister would to a brother. It was kinda fun getting a little one on one time without Nick breathing down my neck about how I can't date any of the guys. But...I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get it when he finds out I was alone with Sky. Or I don't have to tell Nick, after all, I can be very convincing when I want to be.
