xviii. PIZZA & LIQUOR, DAY THREE
THE NEXT DAY Jax was lounging in his hotel room when he got a text from Joe. He smiled immediately because it was Joe and he was amazing last night, helping Jax to where he needed to be – Roman finding them later and apologizing for his tardiness – and they kept a nice conversation. Joe was funny and he appreciated that and they sat next to each other throughout the whole premier.
But when it was time to say goodbye, Joe gave him a farewell hug before leaving and Jax stood there in shock for a moment as Evan laughed at him. (He totally did not punch his brother in the gut because of it.) So, all in all, the premier was amazing and he definitely loved Joe a lot which was sad because he claimed to be straight and that's terrible for him – falling for another straight boy.
Only teenage gays did that yet here he was; crushing on this straight boy he would never have a chance with. Jax never claimed not to be pathetic for a reason. But the next day, which he thought would consist of lying on his bed as Bones played (because that's one of the only things on that Jax actually likes to listen to while on vacation) and mopping because Joe was great last night and it made it so much worse to like him.
Ugh, he nodded a drink.
Flopping off his bed, Jax cursed as his leg hit the wall harshly. He got to the door, room key and wallet in hand with shoes on his feet, he opened it only to find the man himself about to knock.
"Joe," Jax said, blinking in surprise, "What are – uh, what are you doing here?"
He flushed, "So I might have asked your brother where you're staying cause I wanted to surprise you with some pizza and liquor – if it's okay and you aren't going anywhere, obviously."
Jax shook his head immediately, "No, no, come inside. I was, uh, just about to head to the bar to get a beer or something."
The Keery man smiled to him as he entered the room, "Nice hotel room."
"Thanks, I did nothing to pick it out. That was all Evan, I just took the room," Jax rambled a bit, but how could he not? His brain wasn't functioning properly because here was Joe Keery in his hotel room – who would be able to think straight? Well, then again, Jax had never thought straight in his life, but that's beside the point. "So, uh, wanna watch some Bones with me?"
"Sure, I love Bones," Joe smiled, taking a seat on the bed. Jax took out the glasses in the cabinet, coming from the small kitchen that was in the room, before heading over to the bed as well. He plopped down, handing Joe one of the glasses.
"Thank you, mister," Joe said playfully and Jax couldn't help but roll his eyes and give out a little – a little, small – laugh at him.
"You're ridiculous," he muttered and Joe let out his own laugh.
"Shut up," Joe hit his arm lightly and Jax refused to freeze because a cute boy touched his arm – he refused.
Joe placed the pizza box in front of the both of them and opened it, showing that glorious pepperoni on top. "Dig in," Joe told him and Jax did just that, smiling to himself as he took the first bite.
