RAE'S HOUSE
8 ᴀᴍ

"Good morning."

I ignored my mother and continued walking down the stairs and into the kitchen. This was really the  only plan I could come up with. I would make her feel guilty, and then maybe she will take back the punishment she set on me, grounded for life, and banned from seeing Jimin, who she's doesn't even know I'm dating. I had exams all through out this week, but luckily only had one today. Calculus.

"Aurelia, I know you're mad, but you can't be mad at  me forever." My mom crossed her arms after sliding a plate of bacon towards me.

Don't eat the bacon Rae, don't eat the bacon.

"I'm not hungry." I mumbled, before walking out the door.

I had to sacrifice something I loved, bacon, to win this once and for all. I grabbed the bike out of our back yard, and pulled a helmet over my head. is it really that surprising that I still wear a helmet? It's New York, so there's a high chance I'll get run over by a car. The way exams worked for my school was basically like this; if you didn't have an exam you didn't have to come to school, but if you did, then after you finish, you can pick yourself up and leave.

"I love you Rae." My mom shouted through the open window, right as I was peddling out the driveway.

"Love you too." I scoffed under my breath.

I continued to bike towards the school, but made a quick stop at a local grocery store. I set my bike to the side, keeping a close eye on it as I grabbed the payphone. I reached into my front pocket, looking for a quarter, before placing it into the slot. Please pick up the phone.

"Hello?" I heard from the other line.

"Hi miss Park, this is Aurelia." I gulped, afraid of what she might say.

"Haven't you caused enough trouble?" She scoffed, but I wasn't too surprised.

"I know, I know." I softly mumbled. "Could you just do me a favor?"

"What."

"Can you just make sure that Jimin goes to his exams, he has two today. His history exam's at eleven and his sociology exam starts at three."

There was a long pause after I finished speaking. I didn't know what to expect. Was she mad at me for calling? "MissPark—?" I nervously muttered. "Are you still there?"

"I'll let him know."

"Thank you." I quietly spoke into the phone, before gently pushing it back in its place.

I glanced down at my wrist, letting out a groan, when I saw the time. "Shit, I'm gonna be late."

I ran towards my bike, and peddled as quickly as I could, to make it to my exam in time. My calculus teacher wasn't exactly the sweetest woman alive.

Miss Park sighed as she set the glass of rum down, thinking about that call over and over again. She's seen Jimin's depression get worse. He's not acting like he used to, mostly because he's trapped inside his room almost all day. Regardless of how much Jimin denies it, she cares about her son and she's willing to do anything to see him succeed in life.

She walked up the steps, taking her sweet time too because let's be honest, no one likes stairs. Jimin's door was closed, like she expected. "Get up mister, you have an exam in an hour and you'll fail if you miss it."

"Let me fail." Jimin mumbled, still half asleep.

"I'm not hearing this bullshit from you anymore, you're gonna go to school and try to pass, because you can't keep putting yourself down like this. I'm not the best mother, I know, but at least I can say that what you're doing to yourself can kill you one day. Shit happens in this world, and you're gonna have pick yourself and keep going. I will not just stand here, and watch you fight this battle of life, with yourself."

"Why do you even care." Jimin spoke in a low and scratchy voice.

"Because I'm afraid of losing you again!" She yelled, surprising him and herself too.

It's hard as a mother, seeing your child miserable, even after they tried to kill themselves. It's hard to solve their problems, when you've got million of problems yourself. It's hard to fix someone who's permanently broken, when you can't find their missing pieces.

"I wouldn't do it again." Jimin quietly muttered. "I know how to deal with shit now."

"The drugs will kill you one day, Jimin." She slowly shook her head. "You don't feel it, but it will. Your ways of coping are just making you worse. I really can't believe I'm admitting this, but at one second, some part of me wanted you to be with that girl. I saw the way you changed when you're around her, and if she's what makes you happy then I'd never object." Miss Park tried to explain her thoughts.

"What do you know?" Jimin scoffed. "You barely even know her."

"Aurelia called, Jimin."

"What?" He slowly lifted himself up in his bed.

"She told me to wake you up for exams. It was her, not me." Jimin's mom raised her brows, not really surprised to see him act like this.

"She called? When? What time did she call? What did you say?" He asked question after question, not letting his mom answer any of them.

"Get dressed and take those exams." She threw his keys to his chest. "We'll talk about that later."

"Mom." Brooke stomped down the stairs as she crossed her arms.

"Yes?" Brooke's mother gave her a petty reply.

"Did you put a tracker in Hoseok's car?"

"Maybe." She crossed her legs.

"Maybe?" Brooke narrowed her eyes. "He's been going crazy all morning. He thinks the FBI are watching him or something!"

"I put one in your car too." She muttered, before taking a sip from her wine.

Brooke loudly groaned as she grabbed her keys from the counter.

"Where are you going?" Her mom looked over her shoulder.

"Why don't you track me and find out." Brooke rolled her eyes, before storming out the door.

She got in her car, planning to drive down to my house, as if she was even allowed there. My mom was pretty strict on the whole grounded thing. I couldn't even go to work, because Jimin worked there too.

"Knock knock." She sang, and that's when I knew it was her.

"Brooke, you know you're not allowed here." I cracked the door open.

"Yeah, but there are no cars in your driveway and that means your parents aren't home, right?" She wiggled her brows up and down.

"They're spending the night in Maryland, for my dad's speech tomorrow." I emotionlessly spoke.

"That's great news!" Brooke nearly fell backwards as she tried to jump in the air. "Shit—pretend like you never saw that."

"Brooke."

"Hm?" She looked clueless.

"You can't come in, I'm sorry." I sighed.

"Why?" She frowned. "What's the problem?"

I slowly glanced over my shoulder, before fully opening the door. "Brooke, I'd like you to meet misses Graham, my babysitter, who's also our neighbor."

The old woman waved from the couch, before she averted her attention to the sewing machine on the table.

"Your mom got you a babysitter?" Brooke tried not to snort.

"Yeah." I rolled my eyes. "She doesn't trust me, and thinks I'll leave the house or something like that."

"Damn, she's good." Brooke grinned as she shook her head. "Well, she seems really nice though, so maybe she'll let me in?"

"My mom's gonna ask her if anyone was over, and she's gonna say yes and then my life's done with."

"How about this." Brooke pulled me to the side. "I can come over tonight, at about seven, and I'll just climb through the window or something."

"You sure that's a good idea?" I bit my lip.

"What was she doing at nine?" Brooke crossed her arms.

"Sewing, why?"

"And what about an hour later?"

"Sewing, but—"

"Let's get one thing straight Rae, she's not getting her ass out of that chair, and we can both agree to that." She looked over at the old, happy woman.

"Fine, be here at around seven. I'll just keep the window open, which means that if you forget and throw a rock in there and it hits me, I'll kill you."

"No promises."She gave me a devious smile, before walking down the steps. "I'll make sure to say hi to your boyfriend if I see him during exams."

Shit, I was just starting to feel better and she had to bring him up again. I waved, and quickly shut the door, before I'd end up crying in front of her.

"Is it the mail man?"

I looked over to the old woman, briefly closing my eyes before opening them. "No, it's not the mail man."

"Is it the mail woman?" She innocently asked.

"I'm gonna go to my room now." I tried to smile, before quickly running up stairs and slamming my door shut.

I laid in my bed, waiting for Brooke to come over, since that was the only thing I could do, without misses Graham trying to make corny jokes. Time went by, and soon my room was darkening. One thing to know about Brooke, is that she is never anywhere on time. If she says seven, she means seven fifty nine. "Really Brooke, really." I looked over at my clock, which read seven fifty eight.

I laid on my back, letting my head hang off the bed, as it was weirdly comfortable. "I hate my life, I hate my life, I hate my life." I repeatedly muttered, not knowing why I was doing it. "I hate my life, I hate my life, I really really really—

"—love Jimin."

My eyes darted open, and I flipped myself off the bed, falling straight on my ass, but I didn't care. I screeched like a little girl, and covered my mouth with both my hands.

"I was gonna see how long you'd continue, but I thought that'd be too harsh." Jimin calmly spoke, while I stood there, tears surrounding my eyes.

His lips slightly curved upwards, and I knew he couldn't help himself. Jimin sat at the edge of my window, propping one of his knees up, so his back resting against the wall behind him. What a little tease. I slowly walked towards him, but stopped midway,  still in shock that he's in my room. He stepped into my room, still keeping his distance.

"Aurelia." Jimin licked his lips. "Come here, so I can fucking love you."

I jumped into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck as he held my thighs for support. I sobbed onto his shoulder, holding onto him like he's glue.

"I missed you." Jimin playfully kissed my cheek, smiling at me as I cried. "My little baby, I knew I  couldn't leave you alone."

"Don't leave." I sobbed in his arms. "Please."

"I'm here baby, just take a deep breath okay?" He softly kissed my lips, laughing as he watched my  cheeks turn pink. "I would tease you, but I know you're not ready for that yet." He pecked my lips.

"Can I set you d—

"No." I cried out, making him break into a silent laughter.

That laugh someone does when they think someone's being so precious and adorable.

"Here, I'm gonna lay down with you on the bed baby." Jimin gently laid me on my bed, then he quickly rested beside me, pulling me close to his chest so there was no space between our bodies.

"I love you." He pressed a soft kiss to my jaw.

"I love you too." I whispered, right before his lips touched mine, making me forget everything that happened before.

A/N : hello everyone (°◡°♡) I have some movie recommendations down below if you'd like to see them. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it!

Btw, if you couldn't read the quote, it says: "happiness is holding someone in your arms and knowing you hold the whole world."

Miranda and James remind me of Rae & Jimin so badly. If you don't know this movie, it's called "The thing called love." It's a 90's film with the late actor River Phoenix, and it also has Sandra Bullock, but she isn't the main female . I really like the movie, and sometimes it makes me think of Rae & Jimin.

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

While I'm at it, let me give you all a list of my all my favorite 80's and 90's movies. It will help my some of my readers get a sense of how things were like in the eighties and relate them to this book. Please tell me if you've seen some of these,or if you plan to! ♡
