Chapter 2 - Awakening From a Coma
H, I'm sorry again for how I have been recently these past few months. It had mostly been my brain telling me I can't finish my fanfics or watch any new tv shows that are over 222 episodes. Or just live action tv in general since I'm just more attached to animation and classic fantasy like Harry Potter or Hocus Pocus. I'm hoping the month of December with my Christmas movies without using Character AI chat bots along with a bunch of good Brooklyn episodes can help me feel like my normal self again. But hope you enjoy the chapter!
.....
Talon had radioed Goliath about what had happened with Brooklyn when he got hit with the lightning bolt. At the moment Maggie had laid him on a bed in the Labyrinth. When they carried him inside, Fang had noticed Brooklyn in his prison, giving a little sneer. "Aww, what happened to the freak? Looks like he got all burned up."
Maggie growled back at the traitorous Mutant. "Shut up, Fang! He was hit by lightning! Show some sympathy will you?" She snarled, making Fang lift up his hands in mock surrender. "Oh, my apologies, sweetie. Didn't mean to offend the devil."
It made the cat mutate roll her eyes, bringing Brooklyn inside while the rest of the people in the Labyrinth were still sleeping, finding a private area with a nice bed and placing him there, wondering if stone sleep will help Brooklyn snap out of his coma.
Talon came in, seeing Brooklyn lying there. Goliath had been terrified on the other end of the walkie when hearing of Brooklyn's condition and was eventually going to come over too. He placed a hand on Brooklyn's forehead, feeling rather bad that the younger male had to go through this kind of thing. "We'll get you feeling better Brooklyn, I hope you can hear me."
Brooklyn merely laid there asleep, his face rather too saddened looking for Maggie as she felt a little sad further for having rejected him. But she knew she made the right choice in choosing Talon, to stay here with him. She did hope one day Brooklyn will find a mate good for him.
In another hour or so they heard footsteps, Goliath along with Hudson rushing in to see what had happened, Hudson's eyes rounding at the sight of the young lad in a rather bad way, but thankfully still breathing. "How did he get this way?" Hudson asked Talon whose ears were low.
"We saw this lightning mark on his shoulder. He must've gotten caught out in the rainstorm. But I don't even know how gargoyles respond to comas. Does Stone Sleep get rid of it?" He asked Goliath who shrugged.
"It had been a while since any of us had been in a coma but once one of our deceased elders had it. He was out for several months." Goliath then explained, stroking Brooklyn's hand gently. Eventually Maggie spoke.
"Maybe he can be here or should he go home with you guys? The sun is almost up."
The two of them looked at one another then eventually made their decision. "He'll stay here for the day and if Brooklyn doesn't wake up the next sunset, I'll take him back to the castle." Goliath then said. Maggie nods in understanding, wondering what will become of Brooklyn if he never wakes up, scared for his life.
7 months later...
It had now been seven months since Brooklyn fell into a coma from his lightning wound. He stayed for a couple nights and days in the Labyrinth then Goliath had managed to bring him into the infirmary at Castle Wyvern. Xanatos was rather fascinated by the lightning burn that he had Dr Sato treat even after most of the stone sleep had taken care of it.
Lexington right now was sitting with Brooklyn, holding his hand and arm gently, watching Brooklyn's chest rising and falling, wondering when he was gonna snap out of it, having been rather stressed the last few months. Brooklyn would definitely need a big meal after this, since his body had been looking rather thin.
That was when he felt Brooklyn's body shift, jumping a little and gasping. Lexington spotted Brooklyn's eyes open weakly, a small moan coming from his beak, vision blurry.
"B-Brook...?" Lexington asked in a croaky way, having missed his red brother's voice these past painful months which had been rather damaging for the clan and disrupted Brooklyn's Second in command training with Goliath. Brooklyn was so dizzy, unable to see anything yet but was feeling a small taloned hand around his own.
"What... happen...?" Brooklyn moaned, his voice rather slurred, rubbing his head, his vision slowly coming back into focus and seeing a familiar green gargoyle's face. "Lex...?"
It made the smaller male grin, his expression watery. "It's alright, it's me!" He said, his voice trembling, a hand on Brooklyn's shoulder now, Brooklyn tilting his head. "How long...?"
Lexington from that moment flinched. "You were out for 7 months. It was a pretty bad coma." He explained, making Brooklyn's senses grow sharper, tensing up from that revelation.
"7–7 months?!" He gasped, looking about now that his vision was pretty much normal, hearing more footsteps. He spotted a familiar gargoyle dog there, woofing at the sight of him awake, running forward and beginning to lick Brooklyn, making him laugh a little, pushing him away. "Not now boy, but I'm glad to see you too."
He also saw the large lavender form of his leader along with Elisa, feeling tears in his eyes, wondering how much had happened while he was unconscious, shaking slightly, wondering too if Goliath would punish him for not having been awake sooner.
All Goliath did however was just admit a small smile, relief present on his face alongside Elisa. "About time you woke up Brooklyn. We-we really missed you." He was doing his best to keep his cool but Brooklyn could hear the crack in his voice.
Elisa runs over to give Brooklyn a big but gentle hug. "Don't ever scare us like that again Brooklyn. It was rather hard with you gone. Angela and Broadway are planning to join us soon too."
Brooklyn hugged Elisa back, though rather weakly. "Uh... where's Hudson?" He asked, his voice still raspy, Lexington going to get him some water. Elisa's face fell from those words. "You really missed a lot. The Quarrymen had wound up taking him prisoner just last month." She revealed, making the red gargoyle's eyes round at the thought of it happening to someone like Hudson, angry tears in his eyes.
"B-B-But... I-I should've been here to stop this! If I hadn't foolishly run out into that storm none of this would be happening!" He sobbed, seeing Lexington come back with the water, Elisa having a sad smile.
"Don't blame yourself Brooklyn. Angela and Broadway had been looking for him non stop, as well as watching over you. It was hard for you to get Hudson out of there blacked out."
The red male's emotions were threatening to drown him, feeling some kind of sparking in his eyes, but he ignored it, figuring it was just his anger. He pushed the covers back when drinking his water. "Need some air." He muttered, stalking out of there, wanting to be by himself for a while. Lex reached out with his hand. "Brooklyn, you just woke up, don't you think—?"
It made his red brother turn with a sharp glare signaling his status as Second in Command once again, causing Lexington to back away, eventually nodding. Brooklyn walked over to the balcony, looking out into the city, worried for their missing elder, hoping the Quarrymen hadn't killed Hudson at all, once again feeling that weird tingle in his veins, as if the lightning that hit him was still present, soon deciding to glide out, wanting to know if he could find signs of Hudson.
That was when something weird happened. As soon as he flapped his wings, he suddenly appeared above Central Park in just a few seconds, yelping out and crashing into a tree, thankfully not knocking him out. Shaking himself off, Brooklyn stared down at his own hands, which was showing off some lightning on them, wondering what was even happening, breathing fast, his eyes slowly showing yellow lightning inside now too.
.....
Part 3: Brooklyn reveals more of his super speed abilities, eventually using them to save Hudson as well.
