Reminder!!!
· Yuri Plisetsky will be spelt as is, but to avoid confusion Yuri Katsuki will be spelt with two U's as in Yuuri.
.
[Yuri's POV]
I snuggle up to something warm beside me. So firm and cosy...it makes me feel safe.
"What in profanity is going on here?" A wry voice questions, causing me to wake.
My eyes shoot open in startled confusion and I find myself cuddling Otabek's bare chest with Paula staring blankly from the doorway.
"Ah!" I push myself away from Otabek and scramble backwards so fast I fall off the bed with a crash.
Otabek stirs in his sleep. He groans as his eyes slowly flutter open.
My heart is thumping wildly. "Paula! W-What are you doing here?"
"I was making sure you were awake for training," Paula says. "...but I see you're busy already."
Otabek sits up and rubs his eyes sleepily. "Paula...this is Paula?" He says drowsily. "Nice to meet you Paula, my name is Otabek."
"Hello Otabek." Paul greets. She shifts her gaze awkwardly from Otabek, to me and back again. "Goodbye Otabek."
Paula turns and leaves the room without another word. I scurry to my feet and chase after her.
"P-Paula, wait! It isn't like that really, we had no choice." I explain desperately.
"I'm not interested in your leisure activities, Yuri. I just came here to clean." Paula replies.
"What leisure activities? There are no activities!" I exclaim, my face growing hot.
Otabek emerges from my room yawning. "Oh man, we had so much fun last night. I couldn't sleep a wink."
"Otabek..." I whimper in embarrassment.
"I'm just gonna come back later." Paula sighs.
I reach out my hand hopelessly as she leaves. "But...But..."
Paula exits silently and closes the door behind her with a soft click.
"Oh never mind." I mope.
.
[Narrator's POV]
Otabek hops off his bike cheerfully. "We haven't been to training in a while since I had to nurse you while you were sick. I kind of missed everyone."
"It's only been like a week." Yuri replies bluntly.
"But you missed them too, didn't you?" Otabek teases.
"YURIO!" A voice cries happily.
Yuri barely has time to turn around before Victor tackles him to the ground.
Yuri groans and looks up at Otabek with murder in his eyes. "No...I don't think I did."
Yuuri Katsuki comes jogging out of the building, breathing heavily. "I—I'm sorry—Yuri." He pants. "He got past me."
"Get off me!" Yuri demands as he wriggles around frantically.
Victor laughs and realises Yuri from his forced hug. Otabek reaches down and helps Yuri up to his feet.
Yuuri Katsuki smiles kindly. "Nice to see you guys sorted everything out."
Yuri looks down at his feet as he scuffs them against the ground awkwardly. "Yeah...whatever."
Otabek smiles down fondly at the embarrassed Yuri.
"Come on, if you slack off anymore Yuuri will beat you to the gold medal this year." Victor winks at Yuri before taking the hand of his fiancé and walking off into the ice rink building.
Yuri clenches his fists and grinds his teeth in anger. "That damn Victor telling me that I'm slacking off when he's always busy flirting with the little piggy!"
"Let's go," Otabek bounces on his feet excitedly before jogging off towards the ice rink. "We'll show them!"
"You're way too happy to be training." Yuri says, though he couldn't help but smile as he follows after Otabek.
.
"Otabek!"
Similarly to Victor tackling Yuri, as soon as Otabek enters the building Mila comes running up to him and gives him a big hug.
"I'm glad everything turned out okay with Yuri." She whispers to him.
"Hey!" Yuri tugs on Mila's hair to get her to pull away from Otabek. "What are you gossiping about?"
"Oh nothing." Mila winks cheekily before walking off.
Yuri crosses his arms childishly. "Since when were you and Mila keeping secrets from me?"
"Since never." Otabek flicks Yuri on the forehead. "So stop frowning."
"You said I was your best friend right? So she could never replace me, right?" Yuri says, looking up at Otabek with determined eyes.
Otabek laughs. "Trust me when I say I could never feel about Mila the same way I feel about you."
Otabek's words seemed to satisfy Yuri; he straightens his posture and gives a complacent smile. They change into their skates and make their way to the edge of the rink where their friends had gathered.
"Welcome back." Georgi greets. His eyes drift down to the gleaming chain around Yuri's wrist. "Matching bracelets?"
Mila, Victor and Yuuri all drop their gaze to get a glimpse.
"Wow!" Victor gasps.
"You bought him jewellery? You're already a better boyfriend than half the guys I have been with." Mila jokes.
"Congrats Otabek, that's quite a lot of guys." Yuri snickers.
Georgi snorts in laughter.
"Shut up twerp." Mila snaps.
The word boyfriend rings through Otabek's mind. No one else seemed to have payed attention to Mila's comment, but it left him feeling flustered.
"It's nothing really. I just wanted to get Yuri a gift for letting me stay at his place." Otabek explains shyly.
"Yeah! When's the last time Sara got you a friendship bracelet made of gold?" Yuri asks Mila arrogantly, holding up his wrist with pride.
"This isn't a competition!" Mila yaps.
Yakov storms into the building. "What are you all standing around for? Get skating!"
Everyone scurries off in different directions. Mila pokes her tongue out at Yuri before skating away.
"She's just jealous because I'm his best friend." Yuri mutters smugly.
He smiles complacently as he glides off into the rink, feeling confident that no one could take Otabek away from him.
