Chapter - 40

"Neil"

Myra halted in her step hearing a loud shriek from the other side. She abruptly turned to the side to find the source of the scream.

She saw Niren, running towards her direction. Earlier he was standing a few metres away from them. He was following his elder brother like his shadow.

Myra's heart thudded with fear looking at the alarming face of her brother-in-law. She turned to look back to see her husband lying unconscious on the ground. Her eyes grew wide, and she ran to him with wobbly legs. She kneeled beside his body. Her palm covered her mouth and the fresh tears started streaming over her cheeks. Myra's hands touched his arm, and she shook him calling his name in whisper but he did not respond.

Meanwhile, Niren reached them. He kneeled down shaking his brother.

"Neil... Neil wake up." Niren shook his brother's body, but there was no response.

"What... What happened to him? Why is he not waking up?" Myra muttered asking Niren.

"We need to take him inside." Niren took out the phone from his pockets, dialling for his security head.

"Neil.... Wake up... Open your eyes." She tapped on his cheeks. "He is... he is burning with fever." She mumbled feeling his burning hot skin.

"Yes, he is from morning." Niren answered not meeting his worrisome eyes with her teary ones.

In a few moments, security and hospital staff took Neil inside, and doctors surrounded him with urgent medical care.

"From the last couple of days he was suffering..." Niren informed when he saw her pacing in the corridor fidgeting her fingers.

"He never cares about himself." She replied in annoyance.

Looking at his lifeless burning body, her heart took control over her mind.

"Myra, please don't worry, he will be fine." Niren kept his hand on her shoulder in assurance. "Where... where is Neev?" It's been a long time since he had seen his nephew.

"He is with Nancy... she took him to the play area." Myra replied, keeping her eyes on the closed doors waiting for doctors to come out with their diagnosis.

After some wait the doctors came out, "Doctor, how is he?" Both Niren and Myra rushed.

"He has a temperature almost 103F. Our guess is Mr. Singhania has been suffering from the last few days... looks like he has been careless about his health. Temperature, dehydration and sudden drop in his BP made him lose his control over body. Human body cannot take it when one takes it for granted." The Doctor's every word was bringing fresh tears in Myra's eyes.

"For now we have put him on IV. He is stable... But due to the medicine's effect he would be unconscious for a few hours. It will help in decreasing his temperature. As per medicine intake it will be up and down but in two - three days fever will go away. But weakness will stay. He needs maximum rest." Doctors informed in a professional tone. He instructed his junior about the next treatment steps.

"Can I see him?" Myra requested in a pleading tone.

"Sure. Go ahead Myra." Doctor knew Myra was the intern of this hospital.

"Thank you." She responded quickly.

In the next moment, she opened the door and entered inside to see Neil, lying unconscious on a hospital bed. She dropped her shoulders and started weeping badly.

"He is fine, Myra. He is just sleeping." Niren entered inside to see sobbing Myra.

"Come. Come here. Sit... sit here please." He made Myra sit on a nearby couch.

She held her head in both his palms sinking down.

"I will only suggest... Please listen to him once before making any decision. I know you had lot of questions but he is the who needs to answer them." He sat down on another couch keeping his eyes on his brother.

Almost four hours passed, when Myra saw a slight moment of Neil's fingers. She ran to his sleeping figure.

"M... My... Myra... Myra" He mumbled trying hard to open his eyelids.

"Neil" She held his hand.

"Myra... Myra" he kept on ranting her name struggling hard to keep his eyes open.

"Neil, please don't stress yourself." She spoke helplessly, seeing his efforts.

"Myra... please... please listen... listen to me." His voice was a mere whisper but he could see her in front of his eyes.

"Neil, you need rest." She tried to make him understand.

"No... I need you." After a long struggle he was able to gather himself.

"Not now Neil. This is not the time." Myra pleaded to convince.

"It's already late... I am tired of this hide and seek." He tried to hold her hand. His heart was thumping inside with marathon speed recalling her earlier words.

"I didn't betray you. I can explain everything to you. Just give me one last chance." He started begging with teary eyes. He folded his hands in front of her.

She sat on the bed beside him, nodding her head encouraging him to talk further. After witnessing his terrible condition and his tears her heart whispered this man could never cheat on her.

"From the moment, my security team found out about Meera, and when she gave reasons about her medical condition I knew she was lying. She was faking but I saw an opportunity to reach out to the mastermind. My security chief has confirmed the truth about her medical reports. I confronted and she came up with another set of lies. That night I spent all hours with the security team to find out a way to trap Ryan Martins." His face was straight as he said all this but Myra's mouth was widely open.

"I was scared, Myra. I was scared for you and Neev. Few days back, we had met him at a party. I wanted to reach out to him before he laid his eyes on our family. I had to stop her when you did not, to get myself in her confidence books. Ryan was a shrewd and cunning person who had hid everything using his influence. We needed a breakthrough and at that time Meera was the only option we had." He confessed truthfully.

She remembered the morning when she had stepped into a messy study room.

"I wanted to finish everything as early as possible. So, we started weaving a web around her... We purposefully blew a fake bubble of hope around her and she being a vile woman confessed everything. Information she gave was useful to track their illegal activities. Using our influence we asked for a special investigation team to look into this. Our security team and investigation officer gathered enough proof. Yesterday, I had to accompany her for her confession in front of the investigation team. And this morning, the Investigation team arrested Ryan and Ashok Sehgal."

He left a heavy breath with closed eyes to gather his strength.

Myra gasped loudly palming her mouth in astonishment.

"I know... I know I hid it... And I am so sorry for it. I did not want you and Neev to get involved in this. I thought I would be able to handle everything from my side without worrying about you two. I wanted to confess once everything was over... And I had hoped it was today. In afternoons, an investigation team was going to come to our home to arrest Meera under the charges of forging medical reports." His words were giving back to back shocks to Myra.

"I knew, the moment the security team informed me that they located Meera in the US, she would have her own motives for re-entering our life. Meera is devious and has attained mastery in schemings. Even if I had ignored her in the first place she being a disgraceful woman would have again planned something or the other thing to enter in our lives to ruin our happiness. Her father was her biggest supporter this time. I had to eliminate every enemy of us to protect my two precious." He raised his hand to touch her cheeks.

"The best way to fight and win over your enemy is to prepare yourself for every attack. And for this preparation one needs to know them in and out. Keep your eyes on their every movement. This was the only reason to bring her here."

"If I would have thrown her out just based on medical reports.... We wouldn't have reached out to Ryan this early.... she turned our mole to destroy our enemies."

"But I agree, I accept, I should have taken you in confidence. I agree... I agree it's my fault. Till this time this hide and seek was eating me alive. I wanted to tell you but trust me Myra... my intentions were just ... and only just...not to bother you about this chaos."

"I had understood my emotions and my love for you long back...I was waiting for the right time. But today, I understood when you are with me that is the right time. Your thoughts have invaded me, my each ounce of the body scream that, I Neil Singhania love you my Nightingale, Mrs. Myra Neil Singhania. And I surrender myself to you for my entire life and I promise to keep you happy till my last breath."

Neil bowed his head down in front of her. Her tears fell on their entangled hands. She felt her heart was flying in the small confines of her chest cavity.

Whereas Neil felt a huge burden lifted off from his shoulders.

"So that means you didn't use me to make her jealous?" Myra asked carefully.

He shook his head innocently.

"Of course not Myra. My intentions were pure. Whenever I was romancing around you, it wasn't loveless or to make her jealous but it was solely pure and from all of my heart. It was just that she used to see us together and I had to shoot her glares telling her that she is no more in my heart but my beautiful Nightingale." He smiled, not moving his eyes from her flushed face.

"Myra please please trust me. I am sorry for this mess.... I shouldn't have hid it from you. If I could have told you everything from day one then we wouldn't have faced this situation today." Neil shook his head in guilt. But Myra could see honesty and sincerity in those dark brown orbs.

"I trust you." She mumbled in whispers only audible for Neil, she continued with glare, "But I still hate you. You made me cry." She shook her head looking everywhere but not at him.

"I know a trillion ways to get the truth out of you." He smiled at her cute antics, he touched her chin and made her look at him. She stared at his eyes, biting her lower lip.

"But right now we have to clean the dirt from our home, so we have to go right now." He clenched his teeth as if trying to control his rage.

"No you are not fine yet... see your temperature is still not down." She touched his forehead.

"I am fine when you are with me." His weak yet determined voice brought a small smile on her face.

After the doctor's check up and instruction session, late at night four of them drove towards their home. Neev was sleeping as he had vaccination in early afternoon. As doctors have predicted mild fever, the little kid's body has turned warm. He had slept clinging to his mother's figure.

Here in Neil's house, Meera was elated when she discovered the sudden tormented departure of her little sister. She could not understand the reason and she did not even bother to find out. Her twin is now out of her way, simple thought lit the victorious feeling inside her cunning heart.

Meera knew Neil would make every effort to bring her little sister back home. As per her, her ex-husband was the same as her sister... emotional fool.

But tonight, she had decided to pull the plunge by taking care of devastated Neil. She was ready to rule over his senses converting them into his physical need for care. She had thought to trap him, initiating physical relations between them limiting even the minute chance of her sister's return to hamper her dream to live luxurious life ahead.

'Ohh Neil... please come soon.' Meera was dressed in a sexy bloody red backless gown which was barely covering her body part.

She had a wine glass in her hand but her eyes were continuously moving towards the entrance of the home.

And then the moment she was waiting for from the last couple of months arrived when her peripheral vision captured Neil entering the house.

"Finally" She took a sip from the glass, not moving her hungry eyes from his figure walking towards her.

Swaying her hips she took steps towards him but halted in her tracks when she saw Myra stepping inside holding Neev. Meera stumbled in her stop when her eyes fell on her twin followed by Niren.

Neil stopped a few metres away from Meera's astounded presence.

Meera just kept on gaping like a fish, her vocal cords instantly stopped working. She felt the floor beneath her feet swiped away instantly. Her dream of a castle collapsed, breaking into thousands of pieces.

"Julia" Neil called a little loudly.

"Take Neev upstairs. Make him sleep properly and please stay with him." Neil instructed when Julia came to the living room.

Neil's deadly glare was increasing the racing of Meera's heartbeat with multiplication.

Julia carefully took Neev from Myra and went upstairs.

"Meera, what happened?"

Neil had stuffed his hands in his pockets. Due to high fever he was feeling weakness in his body but the relief of ending this drama had earned utmost confidence in his tone.

"Looks like you were preparing for celebrations." His arrogance filled a cold voice boomed in the living room. "You should have waited for us to join you for these celebrations." He stopped for a minute.

Myra twisted her nose looking at extra exposing apparels of her twin.

"Yes, we need this grand celebration as you would be leaving us.... our life for forever." Neil spoke pungently.

"WHAT?" It took a few moments for Meera's mind to register and process his words. Wine glasses dropped from her hands breaking into hundreds of pieces.

"Neil what are you saying... why will I leave you?" Meera asked, dumbfounded. Till few minutes back she was dreaming about her bright, affluent life but somebody had thrown icy water on her waking her up.

"Because you are an unwanted guest in my house." Neil shrugged his shoulders casually.

"Unwanted guest?" Meera took a step towards him. "Neil... I am sure you are joking. This is not true. You had promised me to give our relationship a chance when I would prove myself. Now our culprits are behind the bars....." She was astounded with his carefree declaration.

"When did I promise you?" Neil asked shrugging his shoulders. "Don't you know I am married to Myra. My lovely wife."

"Marriage... ohh please stop making fool of yourself. You and me we both know that this fucking bitch is a gold digger. She is just taking advantage of the situation." Meera spatted venomously.

"Dare you even say a word against my wife." Neil held her neck chocking, making her breathless. "I will kill you here itself."

"Neil leave her." Both Myra and Niren screamed. They had tough time to rescue Meera from Neil's clutches. Meera stumbled back feeling relieved when she was out of his clutches.

"I love you Neil. Even after doing everything as you said... you still dont believe me?" Meera thought to play her emotional game.

"Seriously Meera, did you really think I would believe that nonsense of yours?" Neil hissed, giving her bitter glares.

Meera felt shudders down her spine hearing his cold intimidating tone.

"I never trusted any of your words... but I used those to make you pay for every tear my son had shed because of you. You had betrayed me, I just returned the same to you along with the interest. This was the game you had started but I finished it." Neil challenges with blazing eyes.

"And you know now all your cover ups are behind the bars you are the last one to join them. Have fun together. Please wish happy reunion to other two from my side." He mocked passing a humorous chuckle.

"You said, a man can never forget his first love..." Meera could not complete. Now her eyes started reflecting on her fears.

"First love??" Neil passed a smile shaking his head. "My first love was and will always be Myra... My Nightingale... I loved her from the time I didn't even know what love was all about." He took a step back, wrapping his arm around Myra's shoulder. "I had loved her since I was a teenager. I will love her till my last breath."

"What does it mean?" Meera was clueless about destiny's game of love.

"That you don't need to know Meera." This time her twin spoke up. "My and Neil's marriage is built on the foundation of trust... I agree, it was shaken a bit by your words but the foundation remained intact even after this storm. This proves we are soulmates." She took a step towards her elder sister.

"You can never be happy... my shadow will always haut you with nightmares. I will take back what belongs to me." Meera gritted her teeth. Her twin sister was winning this battle was not digestible truth for Meera.

"This is my house. Neil is my husband. Neev is my son. And you... you are nobody... you have no relation whatsoever with either of them." Myra spoke with authority.

"What did you think of Myra? By ranting Neev is my son... he is my baby, he will become your son...??? No way... I am his biological mother. It won't be difficult to prove it in court... I will snatch him from you..." Meera seethed with anger.

'Slap'

In the next moment Meera had felt a stinging sensation on her cheek. She stumbled back as Myra's hand hit her cheek so hard.

Neil and Niren jumped at their place, widening their eyes like their eyeballs would come out of their sockets anytime.

"Don't you even dare to take my son's name from your filthy mouth. NEEV is MY SON no one... no one can change this fact. I had already told you on past that if I even felt you used my son in all this for your benefit then no one would be worse than me... remember?" Myra was furious now.

'Slap'

Another round of slap hit Meera's cheek.

"This is for using my son's name for this slithy game of yours." Myra has turned furious.

Meera had always considered her little twin as a timid, apprehensive girl but today she felt she was facing a wounded lioness.

"Ms. Meera, you are under arrest under the charges of forging medical reports, cheatings, embezzlement of funds and drug dealings." Special investigative officer entered the living room along with a few other officers.

"Ms Meera, please cooperate." Lady officer came forward.

"Arrest? Have you gone nuts?" Meera trembled with anticipation.

"Ms. Meera, we have enough proof against you... Mr. Ashok had given their statement against you." Investigative team was successful in breaking up the fraudulent father and daughter team.

"No. You are saying bulshit.... you can't do this?" Meera stepped back. She ran to Neil.

"Neil please.... Please ask them to stop... I am Meera. How could you forget we were in love...I was trapped by them... please trust me..." She requested shedding crocodile tears.

"Meera now there is no use of this. This was my payback. Officers please hurry up. It's already late at night." Neil ignored conveniently.

Meera kept on screaming, refusing but officers took her forcibly out of the house. And all three Singhania's left a deep sigh of relaxation.

Myra looked at her sister and she was shouting on top of her voice. She was throwing her arms and legs in defence. One part of her heart felt a pinch for her sister's fate but her mind was overpowered, reminding about her sister's misdeeds. She took a glance at her husband and his brother. Both were talking with officers.

Myra took steps towards her room.

After almost half an hour, officers left with Meera promising to dig more in her past to keep her locked up for more and more time.

Niren also left along with officers.

Neil came upstairs tiredly, his head was now throbbing with pain. Body was giving up and the temperature started ticking up as the medicine's effect was going down. With faltering steps he went upstairs hoping to slump down on bed holding his nightingale in his arms to slip under deep slumber.

He opened the door of his room but again it was empty. He was expecting Myra and his son inside but they were nowhere to see. With a thudded heart, he turned and went to her room.

Neil opened the door, and saw Myra on bed half lying down with Neev on her stomach. Neev was sleeping peacefully but his wife was still caressing his hairs, peppering his crown with her kisses. This was a beautiful sight for him which he wished to see till the end of his life.

He took a deep sigh while taking a step inside. He carefully lifted Neev from Myra's clutch and made him sleep on the bed beside her. Myra turned alert, she sat instantly with crossed legs with wide eyes biting her lips. She observed her husband covering her baby with a comforter.

He came to her and sat beside her. He lied down keeping his head in her laps. He held her hand and kept it on his head indicating her to ruffle them.

"What are you doing here?" She bit her lip when words slipped out of her mouth.

"I told you, wherever you are, that is my world." He spoke tenderly with closed eyes. Her fingers ruffling in his hairs were acting at remedy for his physical as well as mental fatigue.

"Myra, did you forgive me?" He asked after a long pause.

She stayed silent.

"Neil, do you even have any idea how much your silence, your hidden games would have impacted our relationship?" She asked tentatively.

Her question made him open his eyes.

"I understand your concerns about our safety. I acknowledge you wanted to protect me and Neev. But, have you thought how disastrous it would have turned out for us? Neil, we are husband and wife. We are a team. If we start hiding things from each other then it will only hamper our bond. Whenever we think or take any decision, we should consider the effects of it on another. We should talk about it and resolve it with mutual understanding. I understand that this may not be possible every time but we should make every effort to make it possible at the earliest because it will only strengthen our bond." She spoke maturely.

Her words increased his guilt for hiding things from her. She was right at her place. His hidden games had shook the foundation of the trust level they shared till today.

He got up and sat in front of her holding her both hands in his.

"I am sorry Myra. I am really sorry." Tears streamed over his cheek. "I am ready for any punishment you will give to me." He bent his head in front of her like an obedient kid.

"You have to impress me." She teased biting her inner cheek. Her eyes flickered with naughtiness.

"Ok so Mission Impress Wifey is ON now." He saluted her and she giggled heartily.
