Chapter - 20

Neil was excited to return back to his home. He had seen Neev's video for almost 20 times but still couldn't get over it. He wanted to run back to his home to his son and squash him in his tight embrace showering his kisses on his small face.

His driver parked car in his driveway. Neil took fast steps to enter inside. He saw his baby was sitting on the floor surrounded with his toys.

"Neev, come to Dadda?" He kneeled down keeping some steps distance hoping his baby would take a few steps towards him.

His son turned to him, "Dadda."

He crawled towards his father which disappointed Neil a bit.

Neev stood up taking support of his father. He cuddled himself in his father's embrace.

"Your Mumma told me, my baby took the first step today." Neil planted a kiss on his son's forehead with adoration.

Neev did not understand his father's words but the little kid was busy being the centre of attention for his father.

Neil kept his suit jacket and bag side by side on the couch and held his son's hands to make him walk.

"Come let's do walki walki" Myra was enjoying father-son moments sitting on the floor. Earlier she was playing with her son. Broad smile was glistening on her lips.

'I hope this happiness stays always on these two faces.'

"You showed your Mumma that you can walk alone. Now what happened?" Her trance was broken with Neil'sulky voice. He was making a cute pout which earned small laughter from her.

"Why are you laughing?" he shot his question at her with narrowed eyes.

"Nothing." she shook her head pressing her lips to control her laugh.

"I guess mother and son are conspiring against me." he scrunched his nose and settled down on the floor beside Myra.

"Why isn't he walking now? I want to see it." He asked woefully.

"He will walk. Give him some time. He just took a few steps today but after that he is not in the mood." Myra cleared with shrugging her shoulders.

"Your son is growing up as a totally moody person." Neil chucked after a lot of efforts to encourage his stubborn son to take a few steps.

"Look who's talking about this." words were out even before Myra realised.

Neil turned to her abruptly with wide open eyes. "Do you think I am a moody person?"

Myra bit her tongue between her teeth shaking her head in negative. His glare gave goosebumps in her stomach.

"Hmm, you better not have any misconceptions." he snapped at her. Myrar pressed her lips tightly to hold on her laughter looking at his antics.

'Neev has taken cuteness from his father for sure.'

She nodded her head in negative vigorously. Her eyes filled with tears which she blinked turning to the other side.

Neil started laughing loudly looking at her expressions. She turned to see his face, he had palmed his face and was laughing wholeheartedly. She kept on staring at his face when she realised that it was for the first time she saw him laughing like this.

She understood he was making fun of her earlier. She rolled her eyes while getting up to make his black coffee.

Neev could not understand sudden laughter from his father, so he crawled to Neil. He stood up with Neil's support holding his face in his little palms.

"Your Mumma is super cute just as you." Neil kissed Neev's face once again.

But his words landed on Myra's ears giving much familiar flutterings to her heart.

She made his coffee and brought it back, he was still in his office wearables playing with his son.

"Your coffee." she handed over a mug to him.

"Myra, aren't you ready yet?" She was still in her home clothes, sweatpants and simple top with hairs tied in a messy bun.

She stared at him in puzzlement.

"We are going out for dinner. It's time for celebrations for our Neev."

"Are we taking Neev?" She asked.

"Of course it's his day." His statement brought a smile to her face.

"Ok. Give me some time, let me make dinner for Julia aunty and then get this little one ready." She moved inside kitchen.

Julia was still on bed taking bed rest. Neil stared at his wife, she was dutiful for a mere servant of his house.

After one hour, Myra came upstairs to get ready. She knocked on Neil's room door.

"Come in" he permitted.

"Neev? Should I take him to get him ready?" She asked, her baby was sitting on his bed covering himself in Neil's suit.

"Yes, sure." Myra's eyes went to Neil. He was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt accompanied with a casual jacket. It was for the first time Myra was seeing her husband dressed in casual wear.

Her eyes popped up when she saw Neil's office clothes spread on his bed and his son was playing with them.

"Neev, come baby. Let's get ready." but today her son was not ready to listen to her. He was busy playing with his father's clothes.

"Neev leave it. Please no baby." Myra was trying to capture his attention. She folded her husband's pants and shirt but his suit jacket was still with Neev.

Steel cufflink of the jacket captured Neev's attention. He found it as a shiny ball. He started pulling it.

Myra widened her eyes, she took steps and pulled the suit with slight force which resulted in breakage of cufflink.

"Oops" Myra passed a quick look at Neil, he was busy combing his hair.

Neev understood he and his mother had messed up with his father's clothes. He crawled to Myra at a fast pace and raised his hands. "Mumma"

"Come let's go, else your father will be mad at both of us." Myra took him in her arms murmuring, making sure her husband could not hear them.

They both sneaked out from his room without making any further noise. Neil looked at their retiring figure with a smile. He had already observed his wife and his son's goof up.

Myra got ready in simple jeans and top whereas Neev was in his jumpsuit. She was combing his hair when she heard a knock on the door.

"Yes?"

"Are you both ready?" Neil stood at the entrance.

"Almost" She made Neev wear his shoes.

"Dadda, zoooozoooo." Neev's way to tell his father that he is going out.

"Of course my baby" he took a step inside. "We will have fun. Will you eat ice cream?"

"Ice cream?" Myra raised her eyes. "He has not eaten it anytime."

"He did not even take the first step alone till today. So it's also the first time for him." Neil kneeled and sat on her bed beside Neev.

"Aaaannnddd he had not broken my suit's cufflink before as well, this was his first time. Right Neev?" He narrowed his eyes at his son, opening his fist which had a broken cufflink.

Neev stared at small metal piece with wide eyes, and gave quick look at his father's eyes and then shrieked, "Mumma"

Myra came near both of them and she took cufflink immediately from his palms. "Don't worry, I will get it stitched."

With the other hand she picked her son.

"Thanks." Neil pressed his lips to suppress his smile.

They three came out and Neil settled on the driver seat whereas Myra and his son were in the back seat.

"So Neev and Neev's Mumma where are we going?" Neil asked, igniting the engine of his car.

"Zoooozooooo" Neev giggled in his baby language.

"Myra?" he asked, looking at her from the rear view mirror.

"Anywhere. Wherever you will take us." She shrugged her shoulders again with a simple reply. Her simplicity again captured his attention, making a mental note.

He drove them to Toronto's Lakeshore Harbour Front Area to one Fish and Chips family owned restaurant. This was a very old restaurant, small yet welcoming. But it was Neil's favourite from his young age.

"Neil, what a pleasant surprise!" Owner of the restaurant, Racheal, welcomed them. She was an old lady in her early 70's.

"Hello Ms. Racheal, how are you?" Neil asked to take her pleasantries.

"I am very well. How do you do?" She asked when her eyes landed on Myra and Neev. "Is she your wife and son?"

"Yes," Neil replied with a smile.

'Did he call me his wife?' Myra turned to him but her mind overpowered again. 'No. He must have said yes to his son. I am his son's mother and that's enough for me.'

"Welcome inside you pretty girl and you little man." Racheal directed them to a table near a glass window giving a perfect look of Ontario lake.

"I used to come over here at a young age. This is my favourite restaurant. I hope you will like it." He suddenly became alert.

"This is quite warm and cosy." she roamed her eyes over the place.

"Yes. I am coming here after a long time. Maybe after 3-4 years." He confessed.

Yes, earlier he wanted to bring Meera to this place but being a self conscious, egoistic, snobbish person she declined to even step inside passing disgusting comments.

"Try their Halibut beer battered fried fish with coleslaw. You will like it." He commended.

"Ok. I will go with your choice."  She smiled, she felt good when he suggested and shared his likes. "What about Neev?"

"They have Mac-n-cheese."

"Yes, that's good for him." She turned to Neev. "My baby will eat Mac-n-cheese." She caressed his cheeks.

Neil ordered food for all three. When food came Myra opened Neev's bag which Neil found as a pandora box.

She took out his bib, his sippy cup filled with water, his baby safe cutlery, his cotton cloth to wipe his mouth, and his couple of small toys to keep him busy. Her attentiveness, her caring nature towards his son was increasing his respect for her in multitude with each passing day.

They had dinner together but Neil's eyes were capturing Myra. His mind was taking mental notes about her, unaware of himself.

"This is really amazing. I never knew we had such a great place in Toronto. I used to think only Hampeshires Fish and Chips are great. But this is the next level." Myra blurted out without even her notice.

"Hampeshires? Calgary?" He asked.

"Yes." She nodded her head.

"Ohh yes, you grew up in Calgary right?" He asked to which she just smiled. He continued, "I did my high schooling from Calgary."

'You are telling me this... I know it Neil.' She at him for a moment before concentrating on her food.

After dinner Neil took out Neev's stroller from the car's trunk. He settled Neev and buckled up his safety belts. Where as Myra took out his blanket to cover him from her pandora box.

"Let's take a round here. Neev will like it." Neil asked on the name of Neev but somewhere his heart wanted to spend some time with Myra.

They started strolling on the Lake front area under the moonlight. Myra was pushing Neev's stroller.

Even though it was summer, the cool breeze was making Myra shiver. Neil took out his jacket and passed on to her.

"Take it."

"No it's ok." She denied.

"You took three blankets for Neev, but did not even take one jacket for yourself." He shook his head covering his jacket around her shoulders.

His small gesture again gave goosebumps in her stomach giving one more booster to her hope towards their happy marriage.

They sat down on a bench after walking. Neev was sleeping in his stroller. Neil's phone beeped with alert notification.

He saw a message from his brother. 'We cracked the deal, E-Care will be signing a contract with us. You did it Neil. Congratulations.'

A message evolved different emotions in Neil, it was after a long time he was able to crack any major deal. Somewhere this was much needed for his self confidence, his self belief. The same moment his heart whispered, this was possible due to the girl sitting beside him.

Myra was patient with him. Even though for the world she was his wife, she never asked anything for herself.

When he asked for distance, she gave him space.

When he asked for her support, she was there for him.

When he wanted someone to take care of his baby, she was there to shower his baby with her abundant love.

When he wanted her forgiveness, she forgave him without a word.

When he was trying to find happiness, she was there to help him out.

She was everywhere.

He turned to look at her. Her face was shining under moonlight, her hairs were flowing with wind and she was trying to push and arrange them back of her ear. Her eyes were settled at far but he could see his future in her eyes in that one moment.

"Thanks Myra." Words were out even without his realisation.

"Sorry?" She could not understand.

"You should never apologise to anyone. To me for sure big no." he stated still staring at her big doe confused
eyes.

"Niren messaged, we will be signing E-Care deal soon." He shared.

"Ohh congratulations." She smiled with heart. Neil could see a proud feeling flickered in her eyes for a moment.

"Thanks Myra for being there for me all the time." He confessed finally. "Especially Neev."

"Neev is my baby Neil. I don't know why but when I had taken him in my arms after his birth for the first time. He had stirred all motherly emotions inside me." Myra stared her sleeping son. There was serene smile over her lips.

"I know it must be difficult for you. You must have some dreams about your future and..." He could not finish.

"Neev, he is my dream... my life. I wish, Neev will have a blessed childhood. He should be a happy kid. He should not be insecure about his relationships. He should grow up having the best memories of his young age. He should have his both mother and father beside him to love him, to guide and teach him about life. I just wished for the best life and future for my baby." her eyes turned teary.

She gulped with a smile. "And I can do anything for his happiness."

Her eyes were still fixed on her baby when she felt a hold on her palm.

"I wish the same." Neil supported staring in her eyes trying to peep in her soul.

Myra gave a glance at their intertwined hands, they fitted perfectly with each other.
