Chapter - 11

It's been two weeks for Myra and Neil's last talks, they both fell in to their convenient routine of avoiding each other again.

It was morning Myra was keeping an eye on her husband from upstairs. She released deep relief breath when Neil left from home. She ran to his room where Neev would have been sleeping. Her baby is sleepy head.

"Good morning Neev" caressed his hairs. He was sleeping on his stomach in his crib.

Neev was not in mood to get up today. He turned his face to other side.

"Ohh my Neev is in sleepy mood today." He jiggled still with closed eyes.

"Neev baby see our sunny boy is out to play. Don't you want to play with him." He tried to open his eyes with cute pout.

"Come on Neev. Give me good morning hug."

She tickled on his tummy.

Neev took out his lower lip burying his face in pillow. She huffed.

"Ohh so my baby wants to hide from me now." She giggled looking at his antics.

She tried to take away his blanket when he pulled it with force.  Being in naughty mood Neev covered himself from head to toe.

"Looks like Neev does not want to get up and play with me." She sounded upset.

"Ok I am upset now. Now I am gonna cry."

Myra kept her eyes on him, taking steps away from his crib.

Neev threw his blanket making loud sound.

He held the rails of crib and stood up. He shrieked loudly.

Now it was Myra's turn to play with him. She did not turn and kept on taking steps away from him.

"Nononono" she heard him blabbering in his language.

She pressed her lips but kept on taking steps towards door.

"Commme aahaaa" he kept on calling her.

"Mumma" finally he screamed on top of his voice.

Myra stopped in her tracks hearing his voice. She turned abruptly.

When she turned there was bright smile on his face.

"Mumma" Neev raised his other hand calling her.

"Neev"

"Mumma"

She ran to her baby and pick him up. She kissed his face everywhere. It was for the first time Neev had called her Mumma.

Till today, she never taught Neev to call her, as his mother. In her heart she knew she was not his biological mother. She was not the one who kept him in her womb. She was skeptical as Neil always taught him to address Myra as his Nanny.

Mother's love does not require any name, it should be serene. Myra had convinced her heart but still one tiny part of her heart wanted to hear "Mumma" or "Mom" from him.

Just a simple call elated her heart with uttermost happiness. It was priceless moment. It was moment she will remember for the rest of her life.

Neev was clueless for sudden shower of love from the woman in front of him. Her touch, her smell, her voice everything about her was deeply rooted in his heart even before his birth. He always felt her warmth when she was around him.

For him she was the first love of his life. His mother.

She swirled with happiness. There were tears streaming over her cheeks, happy tears. "My Baby"

And Neil's room echoed with laughter for the first time.

Here in office, "So you and Myra are going for the party?" Dev asked his son, post their meeting with board of directors.

Neil did not respond but started leaving from meeting room.

"I am talking to you son." From the day, Dev blackmailed Neil for marrying Myra, both son and father were not on much talking terms. It was limited for only professional discussions.

"Mr. Wilson is our old client. Me and Nandini would have gone but you know due to our Florida visit we won't be able to join him for his anniversary party."

"I am not interested." It was straightforward no from Neil. He opened door to leave.

"Neil it's important for business."

Neil took deep breath. He was very well aware about Mr. Wilson's influence on their business. He closed his eyes for a moment and nodded his head without even turning to his father.

"Julia, inform Myra to be ready on Saturday 9 pm. She had to accompany me for one party" He passed message to their messenger during his dinner.

"But why I need to go with him?" Myra asked when Julia came to her room with dinner plate.

"Why don't you go and ask him?" Julia shrugged. Over the days Julia was fed up with these two stubborn souls.

Myra just rolled her eyes. "I don't want to spoil his mood."

'I don't want to dig my own grave.'

"Ask him what about Neev?" Now it was Myra's turn to pass message.

"Tell her. It's at 9, Neev will be sleeping by that time. And you will also be at home." Neil replied to Julia after thinking for 2 minutes.

Julia again went upstairs to pass the message.

"But I cannot come. If he is going, and if I also accompany him then Neev will be alone. Tell him to go alone. I am not going with him."

"Ohh my Jesus. Have some mercy on this poor soul." Julia looked upwards for help.

"What happened Julia aunty?" Julia held her hand and brought her down in dining hall.

"Julia Aunty where are you taking me?" Myra's resistance went in vein.

"Now discuss. I am fed up of being your two's messenger. I am housekeeper and not at all interested in postman's job."

She observed both of them and left for kitchen shaking her head.

Myra stood there for few minutes. It was deadly silence in the dining room.

"You have to come"

"I cannot come"

Both spoke at the same time.

"I am not giving you any options." Neil was adamant.

"I cannot leave Neev alone."

"Julia will be at home" he turned reasonable.

"Still if he needs anything. Either you or me should be there with him."

"It's just a matter of 1 or 2 hours."

"No. What if my baby wakes up?" She shook her head being stubborn.

"Are you forgetting you are his just a NANNY?" His words gave pang to her heart.

"Then why do you want to take this JUST A NANNY with you on any elite party?"

"That's my misfortune." He ridiculed.

His words filled her eyes with tears. Dejected feelings engulfed her heart. She left from the dining hall without giving any reply back to her so called husband.

'Please Myra go with Neil for party. It's important for our business.' Next day her phone beeped with notification from her father in law. Earlier Neil informed Myra's stand to him declining party's invitation to attend.

'Ok.'

She agreed but next moment her head started spinning with questions, 'What should I wear?'

Myra was never an outgoing girl. She had zero experience with such elite class parties.

'Tomorrow while coming back from hospital, I will check something appropriate for party.'

Next day Julia informed her about the dresses and other requisites sent by Mrs. Nandini Singhania.

Myra looked at number of packets kept on her bed which has dresses, accessories, jewellery and make up kits. But her eyes captured on one small note.

'I don't want anyone spoiling Singhania's name.'

Myra started opening packets. Dresses were beautiful, expensive, branded but revealing, see-through, skinny, flimsy in short not as per her taste and comfort zone.

After through search and long battle with her mind she finalized dress which was to some extend decent as per  her standards.

Next day in evening, she took long shower and started getting ready. She wore long off shoulder wine coloured gown which had one slit on left side. She got ready with minimal make up and finally decked up with purse and heels.

She checked inside Neev's nursery, he was sleeping peacefully. Julia was on couch reading something to accompany him as per Myra's suggestion.

"Are you sure Julia aunty?" Her heart was not ready to leave her baby all alone.

"Just go and enjoy"

"If he wakes up. Please call me. I will be back." Neil heard when he was passing from passage.

"Sure. Don't worry."

"Myra" Julia called, "You are looking gorgeous"

"Thanks Aunty" Her cheeks tinted with red colour.

When she turned to go out, her eyes met with another dark brown orbs which were looking at her intently.

He shifted his gaze and took stairs. Myra followed him without words.

During their drive to party venue Neil's eyes captured woman sitting beside him continuously looking at phone screen which has Neev's pictures.

"Sir we reached"

When they both entered inside party hall, people started surrounding them.

Myra was following Neil like a lost soul with out any word. She was hoping party to get over soon so that she can go back to her baby.

"Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Wilson" Neil wished.

"Thanks young man." Mr. Wilson, 50 year old took the wishes.

"Congratulation to you too and this beautiful lady as well." He wished them back.

"Have a great married life to both of you" Mrs Wilson greeted with warm smile.

Neil went on to discuss about business with his associates.

Myra went and sat on one table alone.  Except Neil everyone was a stranger for her. Few ladies came and gave her company for some time but then they left.

"Julia Aunty, is Neev ok?" She gave call for the third time.

"Myra, Neev is sleeping."

"I want to see him"

She caressed his peaceful face on screen when one old waitress stumbled in her gown.

Waitress fell down and party hall boomed with glass breaking noise. Myra jerked to look at old lady.

Everyone's eyes moved towards them.

"I am sorry Madam." Waitress was scared for her reaction.

"It's ok. Are you ok?" Myra bent to her.

"Your dress is spoiled"

"Leave it. Did you get hurt? Hold my hand" Myra helped her to get up.

She started collecting glass pieces helping waitress.

"Madam you please leave it. I will do everything."

"No. I will help you it's ok."

Everyone raised their eyes looking at Mrs. Neil Singhania helping a mere servant.

Along with everyone one more pair of eyes was looking at them in astonishment, it was her husband.

'Meera would have killed that waitress by now.' Thought crossed his mind for a moment.

"She is Mrs. Neil Singhania right?" He heard whispers from crowd.

But his eyes were on her kneeled down figure in astonishment. His gaze captured her legs which were exposing from the slit of the dress.

"She is beautiful." Some one murmured.

He took steps towards his wife. He stood beside her, shielding her figure from outer world. By the time other servers also joined to help.

"Myra" He gave his hand with tight smile.

She looked upwards, his figure was towering over her.

She looked at his hand. His one glare was enough for her to give her palm in his. He helped her to stand on her feet. He kept his unwavering gaze on her passing shiver down her spine. That moment, her eyes roamed over the crowd.

'Shit. I screwed up.' She gulped.

"She is fine." He turned to guest with smile. But Myra had lost her confidence to face anyone. She bent her head, biting her lower lip.

He pulled her on him wrapping his arm around her waist.

Myra looked at him with wide open eyes. She forgot to take a breath with his single touch.

"You are such a disaster." he mumbled in her ears.

His hot breath on her bare shoulder took strength of her legs. They started wobbling, thanks to his hold on her wrist else she would have touched the ground next moment.

"Please stop embarrassing me" he clenched teeth, shifted her loose hair strand behind her other ear.

'Why did she wear such a revealing cloths? Sisters what else we can say?' He hated everyone's lustful eyes on her for a moment.

Onlooker felt he was comforting his wife but Myra shivered under his cold and intimidating tone.

She gulped audibly. She batted hard with her eyelashes to push back tears.

She gathered her strength and left to terrace to get some fresh air. She kept on looking at the skyline of Toronto Downtown.

'I was just helping that old lady. And you were embarrassed with that?'

'You have changed Neil. These society standards, their protocols, this richness, this power has taken away your true self.'

'You are not the Neil I knew over the years.'

Tears started rolling over her cheeks remembering recent humiliation she faced from her husband.

"Hi sweetheart" playful voice disturbed her trance.

She turned to see one beautiful lady standing in front of her holding wine glass. Lady was in her early 40s.

"I understand how are you feeling. Neil should not have behaved like that with you."

"Mrs. Sehgal, this is between me and my husband. Please don't interfare" It was Mrs. Divya Sehgal, her father's third and current wife.

Myra started leaving from there.

"Myra, this is the same thing Neil did with Meera. He is doing the same with you." Divya held her wrist. She pointed out on her elbow, it had become red. Neil's finger prints were still fresh.

"What?"

"Yes, Divya is right. He mentally and physically tortured Meera. He used to abuse Meera." Her father joined two.

"Yes. I know it will be difficult for you to believe us but this is the truth. We don't know where Meera is? Your Dad and I are looking for her but you know how Singhania's are powerful." Divya's words stirred something in Myra's stomach.

"Meera never wanted to leave Neil but she was tired of his abusive nature and that's why she wanted to get rid of him but he got to know. Then they just made her disappear." Her father added.

"Neil can never do this. He loved Meera from core of his heart" her heart was not ready to take such blames.

"Is he behaving like a normal husband to you?" Divya asked with sly smile.

"Myra please believe us. We need your help. Being my daughter you need to help your father else I will become bankrupt. Neil will bring us on roads." Her father needed to hurry up.

He knew Neil can come anytime looking for his wife. Today, from the moment Neil and Myra entered for the party, Ashok had only one motive to convince Myra for helping hand.

The same moment, Neil came in search of Myra. His eyes turned charcoal red, looking at the scene.

Earlier Julia gave him call as Neev woke up from his sleep and was crying. She tried to call Myra but her phone was on silent. Finally, she gave call to Neil asking them to return back home. Neil looked over the party hall for his bride. Some one informed him about his wife going to terrace so he came but halted at the spot when he saw his wife with his enemies planning and plotting against him.

"He is destroying our business. He has already ruined us. We need your help." She turned to look at her father.

"Please Myra one last time. There is one project our company is trying to get it but Neil is influencing the client. If we don't get that project, everything will be finished." Ashok held her hand in his.

"Myra, please"

"Do you think this is possible?" Myra tried to find words.

Neil turned and left taking long steps.

'She proved, she is a true Sehgal.'
