Chapter Twenty Eight
***
A man sits lazily on his chairs, smoking his cigar occasionally puffing smokes into the air. He watched the smoke swirled for a couple of seconds before disappearing into nothingness. He laughed at that nothingness. He knew deep inside that it's not completely gone. It simply hid it's deadly substance right in front of human's naked eyes while it traveled into the thin air and into their lungs. For him, his existence is like that of the smoke; hiding in plain sight while digging holes into somebody's lives unnoticed.
"Wrong move mate, wrong move." His raspy voice echoed inside that dimly lit room. He was old by age, his skin and everything about him is old. Yet his desires, his hunger and his ambition remained young and fresh. "I really thought this man is smarter than he appears to be, but he is just like any other man out there. So easy to break." He bellowed into a fit of laughter as if he found something that worth is humor.
The other man smirked, leaning further into his seat. He too, was amused. For him, there is nothing funnier than other men's misery. He couldn't fathom the reason why he found so much amusement when he see someone suffering and when someone is literally crumbling to their knees all because of their wrong moves. He drunk his rum, tasting it's strong alcoholic contents like he would with an expensive chocolate.
While the other man enjoyed his smoke, he enjoyed his rum more than anything else on earth. He enjoyed it at his most uncomfortable time and enjoyed it even more when victory is wafting in the air.
"You can plan for your next move now." The man smoking cigar suggested, once again releasing smoke into the air.
"No." Said the man with rum. The other man stopped smoking at once. He looked at him with the most suspicious eye he'd ever seen him with. Of course, anyone would react the same as he used to be an impatient man. He wanted things to be done right away and he cannot afford any delay. Him refusing to do the next move was something very unusual.
"No? Did I heard it right?" The man with a cigar inquired.
"Yes, you did."
"And why is that? Opportunity like this don't knock on your doors twice." He leaned forward, examining the other man's face through his old eyes. "Strike them while they are still fumbling on their next move. The divorce had shaken their foundation!"
"I just found out that patience is a virtue." He simply said, a grin forming on his lips. The other man was now irritated. He wanted to provoke him further but kept his mischievous plan to himself. "Come now, old man. Let him believe we had given up on his company now. Let him believe we've lost interest on his daughter. Eventually he would take her back and once he does, that's when I'll strike."
The older man cocked an eyebrow. His head was probably dealing with the consequences of his plan. Once he figured out the whole scheme, he smiled wickedly towards him. "Clever, young man. So much like your father."
He returned that smile with an equal sinister grin. This time, there's no more room for failure only a large space for victory. He hated to wait but this was clearly exemption. He was more than willing to give in into time than risking the safety of their ambition. Other than ambition, he had hidden agenda too that he kept to himself. The old man doesn't need to know everything.
"I take it the twins are doing their jobs properly?" The old man then asked, still wearing the jubilant smile in his wrinkled face.
"Of course, they are. Both of them are enjoying it actually. You know them. Though the other one is getting bored." He stood and head towards the counter to pour himself more rum.
The older man only laughed. He himself cannot simply deny the fact that all of them shares the same blood which makes sense actually. He'll run mad if he is in the twin's situation right now. But he doesn't have to worry about that, the end of their plan is waiting patiently. Years of planning and executing are finally getting paid off. Their efforts didn't go to waste. Their sacrifices was replaced with an even bigger prizes. Soon, everything will ne over. All they have to do is wait.
"Good things comes those who wait." He smiled wickedly.
