The situation was quickly becoming like one from a sci-fi scene. Mae and Ratchet were being handed over to the alien leader. A gigantic alien leader with spikes all over his body and would probably be happy to impale his enemies. He sat on a throne surrounded by darkness and several other robots with blazing red eyes.
I'm going to throw up.
"Lord Megatron!" Starscream sounded happy as he spoke- kind of like a butt kisser- "I have captured an Autobot and his human."
Breakdown eyes him from the side. "From what I remember, I'm the one who captured the medic."
Mae couldn't listen to their bantering any further. She was lost in the flaming eyes of their leader. He stared down at them, but she could feel his eyes upon her as he assessed the situation quietly. She felt her stomach drop when he smiled, revealing pointed teeth.
I'm definitely going to throw up.
"I did not realize Ratchet had a pet," he stated calmly. Breakdown bowed, lowering his head out of respect before standing again.
"We discovered them during our mission, Lord Megatron. It was not expected, but the human was accompanying him," he said as he motioned to Ratchet's motionless form.
Starscream waved her around in one swift motion, as if showing off a trophy. "I captured the human, my Lord."
The glare Megatron sent his way was anything but pleased as he stated sarcastically, "I am sure capturing the human was a frivolous task, Starscream." His voice was dark. It lowered with every word, and Mae felt frightened at the sound.
He turned to Breakdown and continued, "Place him into an empty cell."
Breakdown nodded in understanding and bowed again, saying nothing as he slowly dragged Ratchet behind him. The sound of metal against metal was grating to her ears. She wished she could free her arms long enough to cover her ears.
"What would you like me to do with the human, my Lord?" Starscream asked.
Megatron simply held out his hand. Mae's eyes widened in understanding as she was held forward. I'm going to pee myself, I'm going to barf, oh my God- she grit her teeth to stop the bile from rising at the back of her throat. Within a few seconds she was plucked from one metal hand to the next. Only Megatron's fingers were razor sharp. She felt them slice into her shirt. Wiggling was not an option; any movement was followed by a sharp sting and the feeling of blood trickling down her skin.
"You are dismissed, Starscream."
The two were left alone in the room. Any other robot that had previously been present had seemingly disappeared, most likely knowing what the outcome would be. Mae mentally cursed in frustration as she was unable to control her emotions. She wanted to cry and scream and call for help, but who would actually help her? There was no point, so she clamped her mouth shut until the dark voice addressed her moments later.
"What is your name, human?"
He's talking to me? She panicked internally, Of course he is, you idiot.
"Mae," she replied after a moment of hesitation. There was a slight tremble in her tone.
"What is your affiliation with the Autobots?"
"An Auto-what now?" Megatron snarled, showing off his pearly chompers, and Mae regretted speaking at all, "I don't know what an Autobot is."
"You are Ratchet's pet," he said with calculating eyes.
She snorted. Mae snorted- in the hands of a gigantic, sharp, metal monster- and then laughed. Her, Ratchet's pet? The statement should have made her angry but she couldn't help but feel amused for a few short moments. The laughter immediately died down when she saw his face.
"Do I amuse you, human?" he said in a deadly calm. She swore she felt her blood run cold in her veins as her widened eyes looked away from his.
"No," she stumbled over her words, "it's just that me and Ratchet don't get along well."
Megatron smirked, "Pets are not meant to get along with their masters. They simply need to be obedient and submissive."
She grit her teeth, "I'm sure you know enough about that," shut up, shut up, shut up, "you seem like the arrogant, controlling type."
Rather than being angry, he raised an eyebrow and began to walk forward. Soft lights illuminated from the ceiling, casting eerie shadows over his gleaming figure. She squinted as the random streaks of light bounced around her. It could be worse, she thought. At least she didn't feel sick anymore.
Starscream had practically strutted and sashayed the entire time, leaving Mae feeling like a ping pong ball. Megatron walked evenly and confidently; for some reason this scared her more. Other robots in the giant hallways they passed through would immediately stop and bow instantly, leaving Mae to wonder just how powerful Megatron actually was.
As they continued forward, he spoke again, "I would suggest you tell me what you know about Ratchet. I am not in the mood to get my hands dirty."
Her skin crawled as shivers raced down her spine. "I didn't even know Ratchet wasn't human until half an hour ago."
Megatron stopped at a tall door. His red eyes scanned her up and down, looking for any sign of deceit. Mae forced herself to stare back at him, unblinking and unmoving. His sharp fingers were slightly tighter now. The adrenaline was still coursing through her veins, but she knew her entire body would be on fire from pain within an hour or so.
"Then you are of no use to me."
The door in front of them opened, revealing Ratchet sitting on the hard metal ground. He was wide awake, his electric blue eyes scanning over the two of them as they walked inside what she assumed to be a cell. His face, which Mae had not been able to study until now, held no emotion.
"It is not often I might find the Autobot medic away from his base."
"I was forced out due to a few unfortunate circumstances," Ratchet stated dryly, looking at Mae.
Without warning, the fingers wrapped around her body closed tightly. It felt like several blades were cutting into her skin, making her wince and squeeze her eyes shut. Megatron studied Ratchet for a reaction, holding tight to his grip before releasing pressure.
"This human is rather brave. I am sure she can handle many things, if I am not given the information I require."
Ratchet glared at him. Mae peaked her eyes open as she controlled her breathing and noticed the way his hands were balled into fists at his side. The medic huffed and stood to his feet.
"That human is too stubborn to tell you anything," he deadpanned, "You will receive no information from her."
"Then I suppose it will be easiest to receive information from you."
A threat was held behind his words. Mae caught onto them, and felt her heart pick up its pace. There was no way Ratchet would do anything for her; he barely knew her, and she had acted so negatively toward him. Well, I guess this is what it feels like for karma to slap you in the face.
"Do not harm the femme. I will tell you what I need to know," Ratchet finally said after a few moments. Mae whipped her head to him, unable to process what was happening. She felt so lost, but knew that whatever was happening was important. It felt like she was between two strong forces in some kind of intergalactic war.
Megatron chuckled and grinned, "I am more than aware of your loyalty to the Autobot cause, medic. You will not tell me anything." He continued, "This human is useless, yet Optimus will be more than willing to trade what I require for her."
"That's because Optimus respects all life," Ratchet snarled.
Mae felt her entire body shake as Megatron lunged forward, punching Ratchet in the side of the face and knocking him over to one side. Blue trickled from the gashes left behind, and she winced. She was too afraid to imagine what it felt like to be punched by sharp blades.
He did not hesitate to pick Ratchet up by the throat. It was then she noticed how much bigger Megatron was than the medic. Ratchet was several feet shorter, and his legs dangled as he choked.
"The weak are meant to be extinguished or ruled- there is nowhere for them amongst the strong," Megatron hissed. He watched Ratchet struggle for a few more moments before dropping him.
It was then Mae felt herself being lowered. Before she knew it, she was sitting next to Ratchet, who was grasping his neck and spitting blue onto the ground beside her. She stared up at him. Worry covered her features as she looked back at Megatron, who paused to speak one last time before retreating out the door.
"Soon the Autobots will be nothing but a memory, and I alone will rule this pathetic planet."
