Part 35

Alex stops middle of the hallway after running out of the room wanting to turn back and just tell Henry how much he miss him too. Every ounce of him wanting to hug Henry and kissed the life out of him and never wanted him to leave Alex again. But if he does that, he didn't just hurt one person but he will hurt both Henry and Gideon. He can't hurt Gideon by choosing Henry over him, not after everything Henry had done, it would be weak for Alex to go back to him. But he can't exactly pushed Henry away from his life, they had history together. It would be a lie for him to be with Gideon while thought about Henry most of the time.

He held the bannister with his chest burning like fire, his feet glued to the carpeted floor underneath him and he saw the crowd chatting and drinking enjoying their time together. It wasn't until he saw Nora climbed the stairs right in front of him only then he broke down and cried. Nora didn't think twice before she ran towards Alex and hugged him and they both seated by the staircase.

"I hate him. I hate how he makes me feel this way." Alex whispered and Nora rubs soft circles on his back. "You don't hate him sweetie, you love him too much." Nora replies and Alex pulls back from their hug. "How do I stop loving him?" Alex asks and Nora sighed. "We don't forget out greatest love Alex. It stays with you until you die." Alex lowered his gaze to his hand on his knees and Nora grabbed his in hers. "Let's get you a drink." She says and Alex smiles nodding letting Nora pulls him back to the crowd and joined Sophia getting their drinks.

Little did he knows Henry was right behind them watching how Nora always there by his side to help him and he envied that. Nora has been Alex's best friend since forever and he knows Alex is going to be alright considering Nora is there by his side. He had her, he had his family, leaving Henry again, all by his own.

He escaped the party and left alone without Shan knowing and wanders around the city of New York right in the middle of the cold January.

Alex was enjoying his drinks with the girls having the best time of their lives. For once, Alex can feel the huge weight of worrying about Henry almost lifted and the rope that ties around his heart seems detached. They were enjoying themselves by the bar before he excused himself to go to the bathroom. On his way there, he bumped into a certain Indian gentleman in a tailored suit. He looks posh with his beard trimmed neatly and his eyes lurking around until it landed on Alex.

"Alex." He called and it caught him by surprised that this guy knows him. "Yeah? Do I know you?" He asks and Shan sighed before he introduced himself. "Have you seen Henry? I can't find him." Shan asks and Alex rolled his eyes at him, "Don't know, don't care." He tried to pass by him but Shan caught his elbow and pulls him back.

"I know about you and Henry but you don't know what happened to him. So please, help me find him." Shan said and his voice is almost pleading. Alex stares at his contorted face and saw nothing but fear and worry, like the one he used to have. "I think it's time for the prince to take care of himself and stop letting other people's life ruined because of him." Alex slurred and he can see Shan clenched his jaw tight and before Alex knew it, he was pressed by his collar against the wall beside him and face Shan angry look.

"Listen here you little shit! I don't care that you are hurt because he left. But he left for a reason and that reason is to ease you from the pain and not wanting to be your burden anymore. Don't think for once that he didn't suffer way more than you ever did. There isn't one minute of his life he didn't thought about you. He fixed himself for you so he could prove to you that he loves you more than his own life. You can't care enough about him, at least care that he tried his best to make you proud." Shan released his tight grip over Alex's collar and left him to process his thought of Henry.

Shan went outside and gripped on his phone over his left ear hoping Henry would pick up. After fifth rings he finally heard his husky voice sniffing into the speaker, "I'm fine." Henry says before Shan could ask further, he exhaled longly at the sound of Henry's voice. "Where are you?" He asks and Henry took another breath. "By the park. I'll send you a location." Henry said and before Shan could say more, Henry ended the call. He stared at the screen before a notification ping and he saw the message from Henry and immediately call their driver to fetch them.

Henry sat by the park in the cold winter watching the snow fall and remembered the time where he and Alex had their time together walking hand in hand. He remembered the time he almost break seeing the bridge he passed thinking he would ended up being homeless. He remembered the time when he was homeless in the cold winter before his life changed after he met Alex. But worst of all, the time where he almost jumped off the balcony right in front of Alex. He didn't realized a single tear fell on his cheek and he wiped it hurriedly not wanting people to see him cry.

He heard someone walked from the side and turned his head to the sight of Shan walking towards him. He stood before he joined him and entered the car to drive them both back to the hotel. In the car Henry stayed silent and Shan can't help stealing glances towards his side for Henry. "Any plan sir?" Shan asks trying to break the silence. Henry sighed before he shook softly, "Home." Henry whispered before he leaned to the side of his window exhaling a long breath and closed his eyes letting his tears dropped.

"Sir," Shan begins and Henry opened his eyes again to the world outside of his window. "He found someone Shan. Now he belongs to someone else. I was too late." Henry says and Shan heard how Henry's voice breaks at the end. He didn't replied nor even say anything cause he felt nothing would ever made it better to Henry knowing he had just lost the greatest love of his life.

Henry went back to their hotel room that night and when he finally changed and got under the blanket, he finally broke in tears that he held so strongly towards the end. Shan could only tucked him in and left him drifted into his dream after he cried to his sleep. Shan sighed before he starts packing Henry's clothes leaving out only the one he would wear for tomorrow.

Alex decides to ditch the party and left home instead. What Shan had said to him earlier triggered something in him. He felt something happened to Henry that he didn't know about and he isn't sure whether or not he wants to find out. He was in the Uber when his phone buzzed and he saw the name on the screen, "Hey." He answered and the voice came softly after, "Hey, how's the party?" Gideon is probably finishing off work by now and headed home considering they are three hours apart from each other.

"Boring." Alex lied and Gideon laughs, "Did you have fun with Nora and Sophia? I was expecting a slurred drunk Alex to answer my calls, he is way more fun." Gideon jokes and Alex snickered a laugh. Alex couldn't find the right word to tell him that Henry showed up finally after five years he had waited. He didn't even know where to starts. So instead, he kept it from him as for now. He isn't even sure Henry would remained in his life for now. He had his own life at the moment and Alex doubt Henry would gave everything up to be with Alex.

"How's your day?' Alex asked and he can hear Gideon giggled behind the speaker. "Where are you exactly?" Alex can hear the crowd chatters from Gideon side and he was talking with someone else but him. "Uhm, yeah my client took me out for a drink. We're at bar actually." He said and Alex pressed his lips together. "Owh. Well, have fun then." Alex says and the crowd from the speaker slowly faded. "Babe, you okay?" Gideon asks and Alex sighed longly. "Yeah, just tired." Alex knows better than to lie but he didn't want Gideon to worry about him.

"Get some rest Alex, I'll talk to you tomorrow." Alex nods knowing he couldn't see him and replied shortly after. "Yeah. Talk to you soon."

"I love you." Gideon says and Alex jaw froze again at the thought of the word, "Yeah, you too." He replied and knows how it meant for Gideon to actually hear him say it. But the thing about Gideon, he never pushes Alex in doing things that he doesn't want too. So he settles with what Alex could gave him. They both say goodnight to each other and Alex sighed leaning his head against the head rest letting his mind wander to the world outside the car window watching the building passes and closed his eyes to the memory of Henry and him together.

.

Henry woke up the next day to the raging headache for the lack of sleep the night before. He turned to look around the room finding it empty and his bed is all packed to the side. By the corner of the room he can see his clothes hanged by the hanger. He sighed pushing the blanket off his body and sat up stroking his neck feeling the strain over his muscle. He stepped into the bathroom to take a shower and to get ready before finally said goodbye to this awful place.

Henry stares at the reflection of himself in the mirror before he fix his hair in place and he can see the darkened circles under his eyes. His swollen lid and his dried lips felt familiar to him. He was back being his old self although years of fighting through, he could feel his weakest moment unveiled to him through his face.

A soft knock came and the door was opened revealing Shan pulling up his suitcases and stunt at Henry already up and ready. "Good morning sir." Shan greeted him and he smiled softly handing him his travel pouch for Shan to put in his bag. Henry sat by the couch and put on his socks and later his shoes while Shan let the bellboy took out their luggage and Henry stares at the empty space before him.

"Sir?" Shan called him and he turned his gaze back into the room towards Shan. "Let's go home." Shan said and Henry nodded before he stood and followed Shan to the elevator.

"Why are we stopping?" Henry asks seeing the car stops at one of the cafe and Shan looked to his side. "Breakfast?" Shan told him and Henry sighed leaning his body back to the seat, "Let's just go. I'm not in the mood to eat anything right now." Henry said and Shan sighed nodding at the driver to continue their journey.

Halfway through the journey Shan can see how miserable Henry was right now. He grabbed his phone and tapped on the email before he told the driver to turn the car around back to the hotel. "What is going on?" Henry asks and Shan placed back his phone in his coat pocket. "Flight canceled." He said and Henry's eyebrow furrowed, "But we took private jet." Henry says  and Shan pressed his lips together, "Uh-huh, it's uhm, no flying out today, bad weather." He said and Henry looked up to the sky above him and saw the clear sky with soft snow falls and it furrowed his eyebrow further but he couldn't ask further. He trusted Shan so he nods instead.

"You have a meeting in an hour, we can set you up in the hotel." Shan told Henry and he didn't respond, he just nods weakly before leaning against the window again.

Back at the hotel Henry heard they had moved him to a different room and Shan is a floor below him. Unfortunately they couldn't fix them both closer on the same floor and the room they had before has already been cleaned and booked for someone else but Henry didn't want to troubled them longer. They accepted it anyway knowing that is the best they can do since it was the best hotel in New York and Henry liked their room.

They settled in and Shan had Henry set up for his meeting and he was glued to his laptop for the day before he realized it was already lunch time. Shan ordered the room service for Henry although Henry barely had few bites in before he dived back to work.

.

"Here." Shan gave Henry his pills and he took it reluctantly. He tossed the pills in his mouth before Shan handed him a glass of water and he took a sip. Henry sighed pressing his temple before he leaned against the couch resting his head against the headrest. "We need to get you on refill. It won't last till we got back to Paris." Henry nods before he leaned forward on his knees. "Sure. Go ahead." He told him but Shan stayed staring at him.

"Maybe we should get you checked out too. You don't look so good." Henry groaned at him rolling his eyes to the side. "I'm fine! Enough already." He says and Shan raised his eyebrow at him. "I can see you had your migraine again. Before it turns to another seizure, just checked it out." Shan told him and Henry sighed shaking his head before he stood to face him.

"I'm done going to hospital. I just need sleep." Henry walked passed Shan and was about to walk to the beds before his vision blurred making his body swayed. He'd lucky for Shan noticed his swaying and managed to caught Henry in time before he fell. "I'm fine." His voice broke and he cleared his throat, "No, you're not." Shan lead him to his bed and Henry immediately grabbed on the mattress before he fell off the ground.

"How long did you have this headache?" Shan asks and Henry can sense the anger in his voice. "Never mind that. I haven't slept well." Henry tried to shrug him off but he won't take it. He pulled out his phone and tapped on the screen before putting it on his ear. "Bring the car." He says and Henry rolled his eyes and groaned.

"Shan I told you, it's fine! It will go away once I slept." Henry says turning himself on the side and tried to grab the pillow next to him but Shan took it away from him. "Yeah? How long exactly will it take for you to be able to sleep well Henry? I know you haven't sleep well for more than two hours since you were invited here, so stop lying to me!" Shan told him and Henry sighed exhaling his breath in defeat. "Sorry." He mutters and Shan nods at him.

"Let's go then." He pulls Henry by his elbow off the bed and Henry swayed. He helped him to the elevator and then to the car instructing the driver to take them to the hospital. Shan can see the driver took a glanced at Henry beside him worrying at him. He nods at the driver to just drive them and he can see Henry leaned to his side of the window closing his eyes.

.

"Everything seems fine to me. Nothing alarming." Sophia told him after she had examined Henry in the waiting room. Henry sighed raising his eyebrow at Shan to prove his point. Shan wasn't amused by his gesture and sighed rubbing the back of his neck. "He needs a CT. can you arranged that?" Shan told her and Henry groaned. "Shan, enough. It's fine, she says it." Henry starts unbuttoning his sleeves and folded them up to his elbow. "I don't see a point of doing a CT plus it's not necessary given that he is fine." Sophia told them and Henry can see the annoyance in her voice to treat him.

"He's not fine and if he had another s-" Shan was interrupted by Henry glaring at him with a murderous look and stopped talking instantly. "If he had what?" Sophia asks and Henry turned his gaze back at her. "Nothing. Another panic attacks." Henry lied and Sophia sighed before she turned around to leave the room.

But before she left, she turned around again and took a step closer to Henry and she stood just few feet away from him. "What you did to Alex, really a dick move. Left him for five years with no news, no one could help Alex in letting you go. He was at lowest point of his life after you left Henry and I thought he deserves so much better than what you did to him. He helped you, he practically saved you and this is how you repay him?" Sophia can't help raising her voice at him and Henry could feel himself being smaller and wished he could disappear right now.

"That's enough." Shan said stepping in between them both protecting Henry as he should. "You can have all the money in the world right now but there is nothing that you can do to change the fact that you hurt Alex and you lost his trust." Henry can't take another word from her and decides to leave the room as fast as he could.

"You know nothing of what happened to him. You think Alex is hurting, you should have seen him. I doubt you won't be able to forget it for the rest of your lives." Shan told her and she pressed her lips together. "I'm a doctor, there isn't anything I haven't seen that would surprise me." She dares and Shan sighed.

"Henry left Alex five years ago to seek the help he need. A year into therapy, he gave up. He couldn't go on with his life anymore." Shan told her and she sighed shaking her head. "We have seen him doing that over and over, nothing shocking there." She says and almost left the room but Shan caught her attention.

"He jumped over fourth floor balcony to end his own life. He shattered every single bone he has in his body, he had bleeding in his brain - again and died for about three minutes. There is no one by his side, no one held his hand, no one stroke his hair or recites any prayers for him. He laid there in the ICU for a year before he woke up and continued his rehabilitation for the next two years before he even got his balanced back in life. You wanna know what's the first thing he says after he comes back from the coma?" Shan can see her almost tearing at him clutching the file in her hand.

"It was Alex. You think Alex suffers? Think again. He has you, Nora, his parents that Henry helped reuniting them. He had every love he deserves only Henry's. What did Henry has? No parents. No siblings. No lovers. No friends. No home even. If you think he deserves every bit of suffering Alex had, think again." Shan can see Sophia held her tears before he left the room trying to find Henry hoping he is somewhere in this hospital.
