(Rory's pov)

He leaned in, his lips hovered over mine. I felt his minty breath fan my face, and I fisted his tshirt. My eyes slowly fluttered close, and the butterflies awakened. And then...

"Alpha, the scent was identified."

Rory's pov :

Jase let out a low growl at the man who barged into my hospital room. "Leave," he said in a rigid tone.
"B-but A-alpha—"
"I said, leave!" Jase's hands fisted at his side and his jaw clenched.
The man muttered a nearly inaudible sorry, and exited the room, shutting the white door behind him. Despite the man leaving, Jase remained stiff, facing the blank door. His hands were clenched at his sides, and I could see his body slightly shaking—a sign that his wolf was taking control.
"Jase?" He remained stiff as a board, but I knew he heard me.
"Baby, look at me." It's funny since only minutes ago I was yelling at him, and now I'm calling him 'baby.'
"Please, Jase. For me." He turned towards me, his head hanging low.
My right hand reached for his left, as my left hand reached for his right. I tangled our fingers together causing warm sparks to flow between us.
He lifted his head, his near obsidian eyes settling on my lips.
"Jase. Baby, why did you get so mad?" I asked cautiously.
He growled, ripping his hands from mine, "I didn't get mad!"
I reached for his hands again, only for him to tear them apart again. Involuntarily, I let out a small whimper.
His eyes snapped to mine. The darkness faded from his eyes, leaving him the Jase that I've always known.
He immediately joined our hands, and placed a lingering kiss my on the forehead, "I'm sorry Princess, I didn't mean to snap. I-I'm just under a lot of stress, but I promise to make it up to you."
I giggled, "Relax. Go do whatever you have to do, whatever that man came here for, and when you're done meet me at the Beta Manner."
He sighed, "Auri... I can't let you go there. Not by yourself. Not again."
"I'll take warriors with me!"
Jase let out another low growl, "Like hell, you will! You're mine! You will not be alone with some random male."
"I'll take mated warriors with me!"
"They could cheat," Jase said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Would you?" I challenged.
"No, but they're not me. They don't have the most perfect girl to ever live as a mate."
I groaned, "Jase!"
Jase's eyes darkened, as they settled on my lips again, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, Auri," he warned.
I rolled my eyes at the horny Alpha in front of me, "You have work to do and I'm going home, so let's get moving."
Jase growled at me, but growing up a human in a house of werewolves has caused me to develop an immunity to fear when they growl. "There's no way in motherf*ck*ng hell I'm letting you stay in the same house you just got hurt in, all alone."
"It's a good thing I'm not asking then."
"Auri..."
I let out a frustrated sigh, raking my hands through my own tangled mop. "How about, I go to Becky's place, while you do whatever you need to do, and once you're done you can take me home."
He looked like he was going to fight me, but my hard glare must've changed his mind. After reluctantly agreeing, and making me promise to have Becky mind link him every hour, Jase took me to Becky's.

Jase's pov :

My wolf was upset. Hell, I was upset, but the little minx used her pouty, pink lips and irresistible, big, blue eyes, and I couldn't say no.
My spirits immediately began to rise as Auri tangled her little hands into my dark fur, and squeeze me tight as I picked up speed. Inside, my wolf was purring and howling in joy that his mate was so close, after so long.
I darted to Becky's in wolf form, taking some minor detours to prolong my time with my mate, but before my wolf, or I, was ready Auri untangled herself from me. I watched as she went inside of Becky's house, and did a perimeter check to make sure my mate was safe.
As I darted back to the front of the house, preparing to do another lap, I heard my mate's adorable giggle. My head snapped up, and I saw her leaning out of the second story window. Her long locks framing her face, as her twinkly blue eyes settled on me.
"Don't you have work to do, Alpha?" She teased, little giggles escaping her plump pink lips.
I barked in response, as I dropped my head—which was the closest thing to pout I could do in wolf form.
"Awe did I make the lil Alpha sad?"
I playfully growled back at her.
She giggled again, her melodious laughter making my wolf purr. Obviously amused with my reaction, she blew a kiss out the window before slipping back into the house.
Bye Princess.
I ran around the house one last time, growling at the bushes once or twice to warn away any hidden dangers before I made my way to the border.
Alpha. My gaurds greeted me through the mind link and bowed their heads in respect.
I nodded in return, and turned to face Grey, Dylan and Kai, all of whom were released from the dungeons today.
Boys. I nodded at them.
Jase.
With my top wolves flanking me, I made my way to the border, where Justin, one of my best trackers stood.
Alpha.
I nodded in acknowledgment, and urged him to tell me what he had found.
The scent, it um belongs to a pack member.
I growled. Rogues and traitors—my least favorite types of wolves—were after Auri—my favorite person.
Do you have the name of the traitor?
He nodded.

Becky.
