10

Chapter 9 is the longest chapter in the book, so far, and I have to say I'm quite proud. The chapter has 2400+ words, and is quite intense, if I so say so myself. Anyways, hope you all enjoy 10!

"I need your name so that when I drag you by your hair to your death, I can tell my pack who hurt their Luna. Who injured their Beta. Who released my beast."
The rogue shot me another seductive grin, her rotting teeth on display, "In that case, call me Anand."

Jase's pov :

I bared my teeth at the rogue in front of me, my wolf was begging to be released, but I had to first get information. And though getting information could be fun, my beast will not be satisfied until he rips the disgusting she-wolf to shreds—slowly, bloodly, and, most importantly, painfully.
Darren's mind link still doesn't work, and I haven't received word on his nor my mate's health, which only works to further anger my beast.
Comsumed in fury and worry, I order the gaurds to prep Anand for interrogation. I will find every last bastard that helped injure my mate, and I will bring them so much pain that they will beg for me to kill them.

Auri's pov :

Darren lay on the plush bed with Greg kneeling besides him, checking his vitals and his wolf's health. Each time Greg would use his tools and machines to 'study' Darren, he squeezed my hand—a little harder each time. Ever since Darren was little he had a fear of doctors, and when we were younger I would always sit next to him and hold his hand— a habit that hasn't faded.
Becky took off once Darren and Greg returned, claiming she had to get home so her mom doesn't 'decapitate her,' her words not mine.
Finally, after what seemed like endless tests, Greg spoke. "You appear to be alright—"
"Alright?! I can't use my goddamn mind link!" Darren bellowed at Greg.
Greg cleared his throat, "As I was saying, You appear to be alright, however, your wolf is shut down, so you should get your mind link back in a couple of days."
I jumped in when I saw Darren's face contort to one of anger, "Shut down?"
"Yes, L-Rory. It just means his wolf is trying to heal and stabilize him." Greg clarified.
I nodded, my hand was still on Darren's chest in effort to calm him.
"I will collect my machines tomorrow, if that's alright with the alpha. Please get some rest, Beta." Greg said as he made his way to the bedroom door. "It was lovely meeting you, L-Rory." Greg stuttered, as he showed himself out.
The door shut downstairs, and I turned to look at Darren, who was still laying on the bed, "Well lil' sis, looks like I get to experience what it's like to be human."
I gasped, "You mean you can't read other people's minds and communicate with people miles away through a supernatural connection? Oh how will you survive?" My voice was teasing, and I felt a smile make its way to my face.
Darren laughed dryly, "Don't remind me. It's like reminding someone in a wheelchair that they can't walk! They know it, but they don't wanna hear it."
I rolled my eyes, "Whatever you say, big brother."
"Alright, get out now. I'm sleepy." Darren said, his eyes slightly droopy.
"I don't see a crown, so why are you giving orders?"
Darren glared at me, as best he can, and I just laughed at him. The big, bad Beta is grumpy.
I gave in, nonetheless, and exited the room, only to find myself in an unfamiliar hallway. I groaned, realizing that I would have recognized the room if it had been in the Beta manner, considering the fact that I grew up there. Looking around, I came to the conclusion that I'm in the Alpha's mansion based on the fact that it was bigger than the already huge Beta manner.

I turned left and walked down the hallway, only to find it splits again.

I turned right and passed some doors, but soon came across a wall. The hallway was a fricking dead end.
Guess I failed my mother...
I began to randomly turn, until I finally came across the stairs. The urge to drop to my hands and knees and praise every supreme being to ever be worshipped was strong, but I managed to resist it.
I climbed down the stairs and did a small happy dance when I realized I could see the kitchen.
See mom, I'm not a complete failure!
I made myself a pepperoni and jalapeño sandwich, with a side of a second sandwich and grabbed some chocolate milk, before getting comfy on the breakfast bar stool.
Bang! Clank! Boom!
I groaned in frustration when I heard loud noises upstairs. Could Darren not sit still? It really doesn't take much effort.
I waited and listened to see if I would hear something like an 'I'm alright!' from upstairs, but there was nothing. Just silence.
I wrapped my sandwhiches in napkins and brought them upstairs with me. For the second time in less than thirty minutes, I made my way through the twisted hallways, only getting lost once. I finally reached the door that Darren was behind, I know because it's the only door partially open.
I push open the door, and in front of me, on the floor, was Darren. He has his arms sprawled out, and his legs as well, blood was oozing from his nose and pouring out of his mouth.
I dropped my meal and ran to my brother's side. "Darren stay with me!" Tears were shamelessly pouring down my face, "Please! Darren!"
"Look for h—" Darren's eyes drooped, and his sentence was cut off.
"Darren!" I was screaming through my tears, "Please!"
