Snowflake

The soft snow drapes over windows and eaves,
Floating past in fluffy white streams,
The powderpuff ice flies and it's like in a dream,
Winter is finally here.

My sister rushes out, face lit up with joy,
Cold fluffy clouds for her to enjoy,
As I watch from the window the world looks like a toy,
Doll's houses coated in white.

I cover myself head to toe in fur,
Two layers of socks before I can join her,
Hat, gloves and scarf are what I prefer,
Then I rush downstairs with a grin.

It's been so long since snow has returned,
The flakes coats my lashes but I run, unconcerned,
With the icy cold that falls with such fervour,
I scoop up snow from the ground.

The snow fills my hands with intense frozen cold,
The sunlight filters past like faint liquid gold,
My fingers are ice but with a hot cup to hold,
I soon warm up as I drink.

The soft cocoa flavour soon help me warm,
As I watch the snow swirls like a storm,
Flakes twist and fly like a great frozen swarm,
A milky countryside blizzard.

We all head inside as it starts blowing a gale,
Flakes of ice twisted in our ponytails,
And though the pale crystals have now turned to hail,
We will come outside again.
