Chapter 20

*Edited*

Today was the day I was going to meet up with my old, best friend, Kenzie. I haven't seen her in years. Dani has seen her multiple times before, but she was 2 the last time she saw her.

Dani was completely calm, but she didn't really know what was going on. Why I was so nervous, I honestly don't know. I miss Kenzie though. We were best friends for as long as I can remember.

My knee was bouncing as I sat on the bench. Dani sat next to me, swinging her legs back and forth. I could see fans and paparazzi surrounding the airport, so I kept an arm around Dani. You can never be too safe. Wow, I sound like my mum... Luke was taking pictures with fans and all of that.

I keep looking towards the door she'll come through. After the millionth time, I see her. I quickly stand up, and grab Dani into my arms. I rushed over to where she was.

"Michael!" She gasps.

I hug her tightly, probably crushing Dani in the process.

"Hi Kenzie!" I whisper.

We pull away from the hug. Dani looks between Kenzie and I.

"Daddy, who's she?" Dani asks, pointing a finger at Kenzie.

"This is your Aunt Kenzie," I inform.

"Hi Aunt Kenzie," Dani mumbles shyly.

"Hi Dani! How are you?"

"Good."

Dani hides her head in my neck. This is new. She's usually just fine around strangers.

"Dani, why are you so shy?" I ask.

"I miss Aunt Fae," she whimpers.

"Yeah? If you're good, we can talk to her tonight," I coax.

Her eyes light up a little. "Okay!" She looks over my shoulder. "Uncle Lukey!" She yells giddily.

"Luke, this is my best friend, Kenzie. Kenzie, this hobo is Luke. He lives under my porch. Oh yeah, and he's my band mate."

Kenzie laughs. "Ha, ha, ha. Very funny Mike," Luke says sarcastically.

"Uncle Lukey! I can sing my ABC's now!" Dani cheers to Luke.

"Wow! That's awesome!" He dramatically exclaims.

She golds her hands out to him, so he takes her into her arms. She gives him a kiss on the cheek. I see Liz and drag Kenzie, Dani, and Luke over. I tale Dani from Luke's arms real quick.

"Hi mum!" Luke smiles, giving her a tight hug.

"Hi Luke. How are you?" She asks him.

"Good. What about you?"

"Tired, but good."

"Grandma Liz," Dani giggles, holding out her arms.

"Hi sweetie," Liz cooed, taking Dani.

*time skip 'cause damn writer's block is a bitch*

"So Michael, I can't keep teaching Dani over Skype. It's becoming too difficult," Liz sighs.

"Wait, if you're not teaching Dani, who will?" I ask, worried.

"Well, I talked to Ash, and he said that he's willing to teach her. And I know Luke would be willing," she informs.

"Don't you have to be graduated from college?"

"Nope. You just need to have graduated high school. Ashton, he graduated already, and Luke, well, I made him finish school."

"It was hell," Luke mutters, walking in the room.

"Luke," Liz scolds.

"Sorry," he murmurs, sitting next to me.

"Where's Dani?" I ask Luke.

"She's in the little backroom, playing with Kelly," he informs.

"It's Kenzie. How the hell did you get Kelly out of that?"

"I don't know, but Kenzie needed me to tell you to go talk to her."

"What about?"

Luke just shrugs.

"Okay," I sigh, standing up.

I walk into the backroom to see Kenzie and Dani playing patty cake.

"Hey Kenz. Luke said you needed to talk?"

"Yeah," she says, looking up to me. "Dani, why don't you have Uncle Ashton and Calum take you out there with Uncle Luke and Grandma Liz?" She suggests to the five year old.

Dani nods, leaving with Unc- Cal and Ash. Jesus, I'm starting to call them Uncle. Kenzie sits on a beanbag, and pats the one next to her. I sit down.

"So, you know how I've been dating this guy for the past three and a half years?" She asks, smiling like crazy.

"Yeah, wasn't his name Eric or something?" I ask.

She nods. "Well, we're getting married!" She exclaims with excitement and happiness in her voice.

"Wow, congrats Kenz. I'm happy for you!" I smile.

"And since my dad isn't around anymore, will you give me away?" She asks, her eyes glimmering.

I smile brightly. "Of course!" My face then falls. What if I have a concert that day? "Wait, what if I can't make it?"

Her smile turns into a small frown. "It's the 25th of May," she informs.

"Luke!" I scream. He walks in, question my ruckus. "Do we have a concert May 25th, 2020?"

He gets on his phone, and does some scrolling or whatever. "Uh...nope. Why?"

"Kenzie has her wedding that day, and she wants me to give her away."

"Merry birthday, Kenzie," he smiles, walking out.

"What the hell?" I laugh.

Kenzie just shrugs. "Can Dani be my flower girl?"

"Of course! Why couldn't she be?" I ask with a chuckle.

"I don't know. She could've had something to do that day already."

"No. I don't plan that far ahead," I laugh.

"Daddy! Uncle Lukey's being a meanie!" Dani shouts, coming into the little backroom.

"What did he do this time?"

"He's saying that cinnamon poptarts are better than strawberry!" She yells, throwing her little arms up in the air.

I chuckle at her stupid arguments with Luke.

"Lucas! Quit telling my daughter lies!" I shout.

He walks into the room confused. "What?" He asks.

"Why are you telling Dani that cinnamon poptarts are better than strawberry? Shame on you, Lucas!" I say over dramatically.

"Yeah! Shame on you, Uncle Lukey!"

They stick their tongues out at eachother.

"Hey Luke, act your age!" I laugh.

"If I were to act my age around your daughter, I would end up flipping her off on accident. So no!"

"Oh, shut the hell up Luke. You don't have the balls to scold her, let alone flip her off."

"That's because I love her."

"Hey, I love her!" I defend.

"Not as much as I do!"

Before I get the chance to respond, he's running away with Dani in his arms. Both of them giggled the entire time.

That son of a bitch.

I am so, so, so, so, so sorry that I haven't updated for like, two months. I promise I will try to get updates back on track. I love you all so much, and just know I'm here for you if you want to talk.
