Twelve

Ashley's brows were cocked with curiosity and her lips were slightly apart for some seconds before she faced Dave Scott and asked, "Where is this?"

"This is where I live."

Her gaze, which displayed her disbelief, fell on the structure standing in front of them.

"So, you live in a..."

"Wait..." Dave stopped her. "Before you complete your statement, I want you to see what's inside. It is an amazing sight."

"Okay." On getting inside, indeed, Ashley was amazed. As she gasped and admired the exquisiteness of the trailer home held inside its little space, a quick question dropped into her mind. Ashley faced Dave who was standing at the door and asked, "Why do you live here? It is a small space."

With a small smile tugging on his lips, Dave walked in, closed the metal-frame door of the mobile structure, and had his seat on the couch that was placed close to the entrance.

Then, he gave a reply to ease her surprised state. "What is the use of a huge space if I don't end up using most of it? Look at this place, everything I need is in here. There is no need for me to live in a mansion. Besides, moving from place to place is easier."

"Hm." Ashley hummed as she reasoned his statement. She did notice that he placed the structure in a quiet area. She hardly saw houses on their way. The fact that Dave could choose whether to live among people or not was something she envied.

Tearing her eyes off the whiteness of the ceiling, Ashley sat next to Dave and continued her survey of the space, her amazement hardly hidden. Though the space displayed great simplicity, the exquisiteness of some objects was enough to tell her that Dave didn't shy from splurging money on that trailer home.

"So..." Ashley faced Dave who had been watching her quietly. "Do I get a tour of your wonderful, fun house?"

"Why not?" His eager hands patted the softness of the deep-purple couch. "So this couch right here doubles as a bed."

"I am so jealous of you. I find it hard to sleep on my couch at home."

Dave went on to caress the smoothness of the seat. "This is my favourite thing in this house, it comes in handy whenever I am very tired after a long day at work."

Nodding, Ashley looked ahead at what seemed to be the living room. A door to her far left exposed part of a well-furnished kitchen. Looking to her right, beyond the wooden, polished door, a bed was displayed.

"I think I just did the tour without getting up," Ashley commented when her gaze fell on Dave again.

"The perk of having a small space is that guests don't have to stress to have a tour. Do you want something to drink?"

"Yeah. Do you have wine?"

He got up, all excited. "Of course I have wine. I'll be right back."

A few minutes later, he came bearing a bottle of wine and two wine cups. "I have started making some popcorn for the movie."

She helped him with the cups and placed them on the small stool in front of them.

"Movie?" she asked.

"What? Did you think you were coming somewhere with a Ferris wheel?"

"Well, you did say the place you would be taking me to will be fun."

"My house is fun. When we start watching the movie, you will see."

"Okay Dave, you don't have to be so defensive."

He poured her some of the red liquid and she smiled in appreciation.

A few seconds later, Ashley and Dave were basking in silence. Quietly, they both sipped from their glasses, eyes away from each other.

Ashley, who greatly savoured the taste of the wine, wondered when the popcorn would be done because the atmosphere was gradually becoming awkward.

"Ashley Steve?" Dave called.

"Yeah?"

Their lips met when she turned.

Ashley dragged the back of his head to show how eager she was for that moment. And, Dave responded accordingly by circling her waist.

The more Ashley gave in to that intense moment, the more her jumbled emotions loosened. She decided that she was going to forget all of her issues. She was going to let Dave Scott kiss her and she wasn't going to have regrets if more happened.

When their heated kiss came to an end, Dave reached for the sides of her head. A quick retreat of his face occurred and the next second, he placed his forehead against hers and stared right into her eyes.

"I have been thinking of doing that again all day," his sexy voice confessed.

Ashley found herself smiling widely. Holding on to his arms, she asked, "Why don't you stop thinking and do it again? Right now."

"Your wish is my command, Ashley Steve."

Feeling thrilled at the way he slowly uttered her name, Ashley quickly dropped her glass of wine and excitedly returned his resumed kiss with more hunger embedded within her soul.

Dave's hands then travelled to her back to caress some of her exposed skin and that ignited her hunger even more. Without holding back, Ashley pushed herself toward him in reaction to that moment. She wanted more, she wanted to feel more.

"Come here." Dave was swift to lift her and have her straddle him.

Looking into his eyes, her hands on his chest, Ashley could not help but grin at the idea that Dave wanted her as much as she did.

"Mmm..." Ashley moaned when their lips connected again.

But this time, the intimate moment was different. This time, Dave's hands were caressing her skin in a way she loved and their bodies were syncing even though they still had clothes on.

With friction between their lower regions increasing by the second, Ashley realized that she was about to recover her lost wave of pleasure.

It had been a while since she felt so much need for intimacy.

But, at that moment, Dave and Ashley were opening sexual doors together and Ashley knew she was going to give herself to the gorgeous man.

"Stop thinking so much Ashley and help me with your top," Dave groaned against her lips.

Her hands did as he asked and soon the swell of her chest stared right into Dave's eyes.

"Ohh Dave," she cried when he leaned forward and peppered the skin of her breasts with slow kisses. His sensuous lips then went on to kiss her shoulder, then her neck, then her jaws, until he settled on her lips.

"I. Can't. Believe. This. is. Happening." He punctuated each word with short kisses which were accompanied by a lot of tongue action.

Ashley could not help but smile as she was beginning to feel more pleasure, thanks to Dave Scott.

Looking down at him with tenderness etched in her eyes, Ashley's fingers crawled to his chin and she held him there to have better access to his eyes. His beautiful eyes.

"I can't believe it either," she whispered, her eyes closing after Dave's hands went to work and began to caress her back again. His hands circled her back, went all the way to the sides of her breasts which were still caged in her bra and every moment of that contact felt so good, so damn good.

"I like that we are taking this risk," Dave said. She opened her eyes to look into his which never derailed from watching her. "Hearing you moan to my touch is going to be my favourite sound from now on."

Sighing in relief, Ashley sat back into his hands which held her waist securely. "You always find a way to be corny. It is cute."

Silence ensued.

But Ashley was not aware of that fact. She was busy drowning in the newfound joy within her, the joy she found by doing something as simple as looking into the man's eyes.

But that silence was broken when Ashley recalled something.

"Hey, weren't you making popcorn?"

"Jeez, I totally forgot." He leaped to his feet.

"OOh my God, Dave," Ashley chuckled as she wrapped her legs around his waist to prevent her from falling. "Warn a lady whenever you decide to get up that way."

"You think I would have let you fall? You don't need more pain, Ashley."

With another smile playing on her lips, and with mushy feelings bursting inside her, Ashley pushed a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

After she got off him so that he could check the popcorn, Ashley had her seat. And like she always did, Ashley started to reason out that situation.

There was no doubt that she was starting to have a thing for Dave and it was genuine. She could tell.

After all, she never felt that explosive with Kevin, yet she married him because she loved him. Or so she thought.

So, all that crap talk of not getting involved with Dave Scott was not going to work.

The best thing to do was just to go with the moment.

But then, there was always the question of what would happen in the future. When she and Dave get involved romantically, what would happen next?

Ashley was about to search for answers when a tiny voice chastised her and told her to stop over-analyzing the situation. It would be better for her to just let things flow.

Of course, there would always be the question of whether she would be able to handle another heartbreak should her relationship with Dave Scott crash at some point. But then, she already suffered one heartbreak, how hard could another be?

Finally deciding to let go and flow with the moment, Ashley left her seat and joined Dave in the kitchen.

"It smells good," she said as she approached Dave who was intently focused on pouring the ready popcorn into a bowl. Feeling giddy, Ashley wrapped her hands around Dave's waist. "But why do I have a feeling that we will not be eating it soon?"

"Hmm, I don't know, Ashley Steve..." Soon, she was seated on the kitchen counter and Dave's chest was tightly glued to hers, his eyes on hers. "I was just thinking the same thing."

"It is good to know that our minds think alike."

She ducked her head a bit to kiss the right side of his mouth, then the other side of his smile.

Encouraged by the fact that he was allowing her to do whatever at that moment, her lips found his forehead, and she planted a short kiss there.

Then, his nose bridge, and after, she fixed one on his lips.

"You kiss like someone who is in pain, Ashley Steve."

"Well, my husband eloped with my mother," she joked as his words settled in her heart. "It is no surprise that I could not avoid the pain."

Dave's hands covered hers which were stroking his cheeks, and his serious look came back. "Do you want to know why I offered to help fix you? Why I offered to help take your pain away?"

"Because you are some kind of creep that takes women to the cemetery to shoot down papers?"

He gave a hearty chuckle, but his face wore an emotion similar to sadness. But that expression was so faint so Ashley could not determine what it was exactly. "I..." A ringtone interrupted Dave's approaching words. "Is that yours?"

"No. I don't use an iPhone."

"Oh. It might be important. I hope it is fine that I take this call."

"Yeah, sure."

Not comfortable with sitting on the kitchen counter, Ashley followed Dave into the room.

"Emily, what's up?"

With immense interest, Ashley listened.

"Wait, what? What is happening, Emily?" Going by Dave's troubled voice, it was evident that there was a huge problem. Ashley wondered what it could be. "Okay, okay. Just stay put, I am on my way."

As he put his phone away, Ashley moved closer and asked. "What's wrong?"

"Uh... That was Emily." The look of great bother in Dave's eyes bothered Ashley. "She is having um... one of her episodes."

"Episodes?"

"She sometimes has panic attacks. She is beginning to see signs and no one is at home with her."

If at all that were true, Ashley felt slight pity for Emily. It seemed everyone had a burden of their own after all.

"You need to go." Ashley ushered him out of the room. "Don't waste time here. I will see you tomorrow. "

"No, you are coming with me," he said. He reached for her tee shirt for her to put back on, and Ashley frowned. Coming with him for what? "The last time she had a fit, no one was close by, so it was a lot of work. So, I would appreciate an extra hand."

"Alright then." Ashley wore her shirt without a hitch.

"Awesome." Dave pulled her closer for a quick kiss. When he pulled away, he said, "I can't wait to do that again and more."

Shaking her head, Ashley bit into her lip to hide her smile. Then, after giving him a slight nudge, she said, "Let's just go. We shouldn't waste time."
