5. Happy Birthday!

18 July 1981

It was almost evening, Sirius Black was sitting on the floor of his living room watching his daughter play with her toys. The room was filled with toys, books, blankets and pillows, it was scattered everywhere.

"Dada! See Pa'foo is smiling!" Ophelia laughed, holding her dog stuffed toy which she named Padfoot. It looked as though it was indeed grinning at her.

Sirius smiled at his almost 3-year-old daughter; she was growing up too quickly for him.

Ophelia had his starry grey eyes and Remus' almost golden-brown hair; along with some very light freckles across her nose and cheeks. She was perfect in his eyes.

He watched as she stood up from her place and slowly walked towards him, she succeeded but tripped on a small ball that was on the ground.

"Ow," Ophelia mumbled and before she could even move another muscle, Sirius had dashed to her side.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked frantically. "Show me your hands! And your feet?" After thoroughly examining her, he sighed before sitting down again.

"You have to be careful, love. Look before walking," he instructed with a soft smile.

Ophelia just gave him a cheeky grin making him chuckle and shake his head.

He grabbed his wand that held together his messy man-bun, letting his long, dark locks tumble down gracefully and frame his defined face.

"Expecto Patronum," Sirius whispered, and a large silvery shape of a dog burst out and started running around.

Ophelia looked at the Patronus in wonder, her doe-shaped eyes wide in awe.

She giggled when the dog started trotting around her and gently nuzzled her arm.

Sirius looked at her, smiling at his pup's delighted expression. She loved it when her Dada and Papa cast their Patronuses, the animals being very playful and energetic.

She was standing up and looking at the ball in her hand when Sirius extended his arms and suddenly scooped her up, making Ophelia let out a squeal.

"Dada!!" She giggled, her head getting dizzy from the spinning.

He grinned and stopped his crazy spinning around to steady them both. Ophelia breathed loudly and rested her head on his shoulder, making him smile softly.

"You feeling okay, love?"

"Yesh! Head is spinny," she muttered but looked at him with a grin.

Just then the doorbell rang and both pairs of eyes moved toward the door. Ophelia and Sirius looked at each other and on their face was the iconic black smirk which meant one thing; trouble.

"So love, what'd ya say? Shall we give Papa a scare?" He asked, and grinned when she immediately nodded her head.

He picked her up and moved towards the door. Then turning towards Ophelia, he made a 'shush' sound and opened the door suddenly.

"BOOOO!!" They both screamed making Remus Lupin jump with a frightened expression on his face. His reaction set them giggling right away.

Rubbing his chest to calm his heart down, he fake-glared at them and said, "How many times have I told you to not do it?! You almost gave me a heart attack!".

Knowing that Remus was not really angry, they both turned to him, widening their eyes and giving him 'the innocent' look making him sigh.

"I should've expected that, you both do it almost every week," he rolled his eyes walking inside, not even glancing twice at the mess because that was an everyday thing.

Setting Ophelia down, Sirius went to the kitchen to prepare some tea.

The little girl picked up the alphabet book and started flicking through it. She was able to identify the letters already, probably due to all those stories Sirius read to her, and Remus singing the alphabet song with her every day.

Remus finally came down, wearing a dark brown jumper and pyjamas.

Ophelia glanced up at the sound of his footsteps and with a bright smile, she started running towards him while yelling, "PAPA!!!!"

"Woah! Slow down there, tiger!" He laughed, his eyes sparkling and smile wide as he bent down to pick his little girl up.

She immediately flung her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Remus chuckled and gently tightened his hold, "Yeah I missed you too, love".

She pulled away and grinned at him, her silver-grey irises meeting his honey-brown tones.

Ophelia then reached up to her hand and ruffled his already messy hair, just the way she'd seen her Dada do.

"Hey!" He laughed, and in return, he too messed up her similar sandy-brown hair.

"Tigehh!" She suddenly exclaimed, glancing up at him with wide eyes.

"Yeah, you like tigers?" He asked, walking around the living room and she nodded as an answer.

"I like woof!"

Remus chuckled and said, "You mean a dog hmm? Of course you will like dogs, what with your own Dada being one".

"No!" She exclaimed, shaking her head from side to side. "I like woof!"

He furrowed his eyebrows, "Not a dog? Then what's woof?"

"Woof!" Said Ophelia, a slightly frustrated look on her face. Her Papa was smart, why wasn't he understanding her?

Remus frowned as she kept repeating 'Woof' over and over again. After five moments of extreme brainstorming, the answer finally hit him.

"Darling... You mean a wolf?" He asked looking at her.

"Yesh!" She smiled, looking delighted at the correct answer. "A woof!"

Remus pressed a kiss on her cheek and laughed at her adorable lisp that made it hard to understand what she was saying.

"I luhv Pa'foo!" She stated, playing with her stuffed dog.

"Yeah, Papa loves Padfoot too," He smirked before he began tickling her.

Hearing his husband and daughter laughing loudly, Sirius came out with two mugs of tea and a glass of milk.

"Come on you two, tea-time!" He announced, placing the mugs down on the table as Remus sat on the sofa with Ophelia on his lap still giggling happily.

"Here," he said giving the glass of milk to her who immediately scrunched up her nose and frowned, pushing the glass away.

"No milk!" She yelled, shaking her head with a disgusted expression.

"Yes, milk!" Remus retorted, giving her the glass again, but her pushing his hand away.

"Want choco wiff milk!"

"It's all your fault you know," Sirius frowned, giving his husband a look as he went to mix the milk with chocolate powder that Remus had got for her.

Remus just winked at him making Sirius roll his eyes.

19 July 1981, Potter Manor

James and Lily were quickly moving around finishing the last minute decorations left while Harry was asleep. They had decorated their living room for Ophelia's 3rd birthday and were doing some finishing touches. Dumbledore had allowed them to meet at the Potter's house for the party, though they weren't able to invite anyone else.

There was a crying sound and James said, "I'll get him ready!" as he went up the stairs.

After some time there was a noise as the Lupin-Blacks stepped out from the fireplace, Remus vanishing the soot on them.

"Auntie Petal!!" Said Ophelia running to her beloved aunt and hugging her.

"Hey there Lia!" Lily smiled down at her and picked her up, "Happy Birthday darling!".

"Fank you," Ophelia replied with a huge smile, "Where's uncle Pwongs? And Hawwy?" she asked with her lisp.

"Hello there Moonfoot!!" said uncle Prongs, coming down the stairs with a laughing Harry in his arms. "Hey Pads, Moony!" James smiled at seeing his best friends again.

"Peter not here then?" Remus asked and James shook his head.

"Nope, says he's on a mission somewhere".

Harry who was making grabby hands towards Sirius and yelling Pa'foo was now in his godfather's arms, while James took his goddaughter in his own.

"Happy Birthday Moonfoot!" He smiled at her making her laugh as she thanked him.

James was no doubt Ophelia's favourite person, she had said it once much to the annoyance of Sirius who had spent the rest of the pouting and sulking.

He raised her and started spinning her around making the little girl laugh hysterically.

"Stop stop!" she laughed looking at him with bright eyes, "Put me down Pwongs!" She ordered with a smirk on her face which went unnoticed by James who bent to put her down.

Just as she was placed down, Ophelia raised her hands and whilst James was still bent, she took the chance and removed his glasses, running off laughing towards Lily.

"Hey! You can't just do that!" said a blurry-eyed James trying to go after her.

The others just all howled with laughter at the little one's little prank on her godfather. Ophelia high-fived Lily and after a few more minutes of teasing, James got his glasses again.

"Cake!" Said Harry reminding them all that there was a birthday to celebrate.

"Right you are buddy," James said getting the cake and everyone gathered around Ophelia, singing her Happy Birthday as she cut the cake. The smile never left her face.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!" Everyone wished Ophelia as James smeared some chocolate icing on her and Harry's nose making them scrunch it.

Remus was clicking photos, Lily was cutting cake slices for everyone and Sirius piling all the presents in front of the birthday girl who looked at them excitedly.

After eating the cake and snacks, everyone sat on the floor and Remus told Ophelia to open the presents which were waiting to be unwrapped.

She picked up a purple one which was from Lily and started unwrapping it quickly with Dada's help. Inside was a small object which Lily explained was a sort of projector. At night it will show her all of the stars in the sky on her bedroom ceiling! Ophelia hugged her auntie petal, with her eyes shining like stars themselves.

The next one was red and after opening the gift from her parents, Ophelia picked up the little hoodie inside. It was red, with the Hogwarts crest at the front-right corner. On the back, it had 'Marauderette' written in golden colour and below that was the number '19' also in gold. Though not understanding what was written, she loved the hoodie and Remus helped her put it on, along with the leather jacket that Sirius had bought.

Last was the biggest gift which was from her Uncle Prongs. Unwrapping it eagerly, she let out a little squeal of delight as she looked at the little broomstick in the box.

The others laughed when they saw what the gift was. There was also a small quaffle and a little snitch in there.

"Really James?" Remus questioned, chuckling upon seeing his daughter's over-excited face.

"Wanna fly on the broomstick love?" James asked her with a grin and she nodded.

After moving breakable stuff out of the way, James picked up Ophelia and placed her on the broomstick which hovered only three feet up. As she sat on it properly, the broom then moved forward making Ophelia laugh as she was flying.

Lily took pictures, while Harry was looking at his sister zooming around with an amused expression. Remus was walking behind her, pretending to catch her as she flew ahead and Sirius' face was sporting a proud look.

"Bet you anything she'll be a beater Prongs!" laughed Sirius looking at his best mate.

"Oh really? Bet you three galleons she'll be a chaser," challenged James as they made a deal then shook their hands.

Lily and Remus couldn't help but roll their eyes at their husbands' behaviour.

Later, Ophelia was flying on the broom with Harry sitting behind her and his arms wrapped around her tightly.

Both laughed at the prospect of actually flying in the air, as the adults watched the children, that were their light in all of the darkness around them, with fond smiles on their faces.
