The next day at the cafe, Roman came in at the same time he always did. Patton greeted him with a big hug and a cup of his favorite drink, which Roman took gratefully as he didn't sleep very well the night before. He took his single seat next to the window and just stared out at the public walking by, ignoring everything else around him.
He didn't care to notice his twin sitting down across from him or took notice when he began to speak. "Roman!" Remus slammed his hand down on the table, gaining his brother's attention, "You need help, please seek help!" It was weird seeing Remus beg as if his life depended on it. Roman didn't speak a single word, he merely met his brother's gaze before taking another sip from his drink. Roman was trapped and refused to set himself free. Remus couldn't help the utter useless feeling that clawed up his back, it swam through his darker eyes that threatened to swallow his soul as he watched the life just fade from his brother's eyes. They were, now, blank brown eyes that just stared aimlessly, no sparkle or shine, no will to live. Like his brother wasn't living anymore, just a shell of the great man he once was. "Roman, please, I'm begging you get help before I lose you too." Roman blinked and rage built up in his brown, glassy eyes. He couldn't stop himself as he spat out venomously "Where were you when Virgil needed help?" Crushing was what left of his hot drink, causing it to spill over his hand, the table and the floor. He ignored the searing pain in his hand as he waited for an answer from Remus, who stammered like he had completely forgotten how to speak. Roman stood and grabbed his brother's collar as he seethed, "Where were you!" Remus, again, stammered and Roman let out a sort of growl slamming his twin into the window, "WHERE WERE YOU!!!" By now they had caught the attention of everyone within the cafe, or those walking pass, all looking with fear; wondering what was going to happen next. "Answer me dammit!" Roman shook Remus, as tears began to fall down his face, "Answer me!!" Remus kept his mouth close for a minute before he softly spoke, "I wasn't there..." Roman locked eyes with him "Then why does it matter now?" Remus licked his dry lips and Roman frowned, "Just because I'm you brother, right?" before shoving him into the nearest table, "Get out of my sight." Remus stood, "Roman, please-" "I said get out of my sight!" Roman snarled at his brother, ignoring his throbbing hand as Remus looked down in defeat and took a few steps back. Roman shook as the rage continued to build through his body and grabbed his jacket that was sitting on the back of his chair, exiting the cafe; leaving behind a brother and a broke door. Patton ran over to Remus as the cafe began to buzz about what had just happened. "Are you okay?" Remus blinked and looked down at the blonde, not noticing his own tears as it was rare for him to cry, "...I'll pay for the door..." Patton shook his head ready to refuse when Remus just grabbed a rag and began to clean the mess that was left behind. He was constantly haunted by it now. Deceit and Remus had ignored Virgil's pain because they didn't know what to do to help him and figured it would fix itself and now they wish that they helped their best friend. Remus didn't want to lose his only brother but feared that he waited a little too long.

At Pat's apartment, Logan suggested that they hold an intervention for Roman; maybe if they all pleaded that he was unwell and needed help that he'd finally give in. Deceit worked on calming Remus, who stayed uncharacteristically quiet through the whole time they spoke about his brother, the weight hanging over them like a axman ready to chop the necklace of hope that hung around their necks. It wasn't until after midnight did Roman walk back into the apartment, surprised to see Patton, Logan, Deceit, and Remus all sitting in a semicircle waiting for his return home. His brain immediately knew what was happening and he was about to get angry when he decided to play dumb instead, "What's this? Is it my birthday already?" No one even let out a giggle at the sad attempt to joke. Logan spoke up, "Roman this is an intervention about your mental health." Roman let out a small laugh and seemed to relax, "My mental health is perfectly fine, thank you all for being so concerned." Patton flinched at the small anger in Roman's voice, clearly still upset about what happened earlier. Deceit frowned, "Roman stop this at once!" It was even rarer for the liar to speak in truth, "You're hurting not just yourself but those around you!" He stood, "If you can't do it for us or yourself, do it for Virgil!" Again, anger swept away the blank look in Roman's eyes, "Don't you dare speak his name! You don't have the right!" "I have plenty of right, if it wasn't for me; you never would have met him!" Deceit hissed back. They glared at each other before Patton stood shakily, "Okay, just calm down...I'll go make us some tea and we can get to the reason we are all here without shouting." Roman was standing in the way of the kitchen and shoved Patton out of his way as he walked over to Deceit and raised his fist; punching the man in the gut, "It's your fault!!" The man doubled over before he coughed out and Remus stood quickly to defend him, slinging a punch at his brother's face knocking him backwards, "You take that back!!" Roman felt his jaw and wiped the blood from his mouth, "Why should I? It's just as much as your fault as his." "And how isn't it your fault too??" Remus growled and Roman seemed to freeze up, eyes distance and glassy.
"Virgil? Baby, you've been in the bath for quite a while and our food is starting to get cold, are you okay??" Roman knocked on the door again, this time a little more panicked. His eyes widened as he shook the door handle, surprised that the door was locked "Why is the door locked? Baby!" He banged on the door before shoving his shoulder in the door, trying to break it down as he continued to cry for Virgil to answer him. After a few more hits the door caved and Roman fell into the room with the door that banged loudly against the white tile floor and bounced up enough to him Roman in the face as he tried to stand up. The room was quiet not even a startled sound from his lover. Roman stood shakily on the door and hurried to the bathtub, jerking back then curtain to see Virgil's pale face. His eyes were closed in a peaceful manner. Roman almost thought he was merely sleep in if it wasn't for the red water that lapped around Virgil's pale body. His mouth fell open as he let out a strangled cry, "Virg-!" He hurried over and pulled him body out of the bathtub, searching for a pulse. He couldn't find one and screamed out as he tried to get Virgil to respond to him. Sirens eventually came and turned into background noises as Roman continued to scream, holding Virgil close to him; rocking back and forth as if his life depending on it. Blood pooled around them both, staining the clean, white tile floor, Roman's clean clothes, and Virgil's pale skin giving it a reddish tint. He stared down at the corner of the tub and started to thrash around when hands grabbed him and tried to pry him away from his lover.
Roman backed into the wall as his covered his ears trying to block out the loud sounds that hurt his head, sinking to the floor and pulled his knees to his chest as he began to mutter over and over that he was sorry for not being fast enough.
