(I don't own the art work, I found it off Google)
Roman stared out the giant glass barrier of his friend's cafe called the Happy Pappy. His eyes glazed over as his mind was lost in a storm of deep thoughts; startled as his friend collapsed in the wooden chair across from him. "I'm so exhausted Roman," Patton, the adorable little blonde exclaimed as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Roman blinked and smiled softly, "Maybe you should take a day off even the boss of a small business can get overrun." Patton glanced up from the slouched position on the wooden table about to retaliate when Roman gave him a smirk. "Alright, alright. I'll take a break, besides I've been meaning to bring Logan over for dinner so you could finally meet him." Patton sat up a bit more with a happier look upon his face after mentioning his partner's name. Roman gave a wide grin as he stood, "Why not invite him over tonight??" Patton stood, absorbing the excitement that literally rolled off of Roman; his best friend and roommate, "That's a great idea!" He, no longer looked exhausted, hurrying to close up his little cafe, with some help, before they rushed back to clean up their apartment. Patton giggled as he dialed Logan's number, placing the phone on speaker so Roman could hear the conversation and jumped up and down as it rang three times before the more sophisticated man answered his phone, "Greetings, Patton, what do I owe the pleasure of this call?" Patton bit his lower lip before he grinned, "Well, I was just calling to see if you were busy this evening?" He clenched his hands with excitement, hoping. "After work I have no plans for the rest of the evening, may I ask why?" "Doyouwannacomeoverandhavedinnerwithmyroommateandme?" Patton rushed out in a very happy squeal probably causing Logan to back from his phone before he returned to the call, quite lucky if his brain was fast enough to pick up on the rushed words, "Patton, that would be wonderful, what time shall I arrive?" "Is 6 okay?" Patton asked, a little more calm. "6 p.m. is adequate, I will see you then." Promptly hanging up the phone. Patton squealed loudly as he jumped around with Roman before they got to work making dinner. Six o'clock rolled around faster than Patton was ready for and he kept freaking out over such small details. Roman couldn't help but giggle and calm him to the best of his ability, "Patton, it'll be okay. You've been on dates with him before." "I know but you're my bestest friend and it's super important that you like him because you mean a lot to me." He replied as he fidgeted with his shirt and Roman shook his head, "Whether I like him or not is not important, Patton, if he is right for you then everything should work out fine." Gently brushing the fuzz and dust off of Patton's shirt as Patton glanced up at Roman from behind his round glasses "You really think so Roman?" "I know so, Pat, and I'll always support you no matter what!" Roman nodded as Patton grinned before looking panicked as a loud but calm knock came from the front door. "He's here! What do I do!?" Roman chuckled, "Calm down and be yourself, I'll start getting the table ready." Patton let out a shaky breath before wandering over and slowly pulled the door open, Roman could hear the quiet chatter of the two before the sound of the door closing. "Right on time, dinner is almost ready!" He called as they sat down at the table before Patton called out Roman's name and he poked his head out from the kitchen, "Yes?" "Why did you set down four plates? There's only three of us." He looked quite confused and Roman just smacked his forehead lightly, "Ah, silly me, so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize that I had set down more than three plates." He hurried over and removed the extra plate and silverware before coming back with the food.
They sat down and Patton smiled, "Logan, this is my bestest friend and roommate, Roman Kinsley. Roman, this is my partner Logan Sanders." They both smiled at one another, giving each other their own greeting before they talked the night away. After Logan left and everything was completely clean, Patton wandered off to bed as Roman sat on the couch staring off in the distance as the tv played something in the background.
The next morning, Roman woke up smacking his lips; throat feeling like cotton as his back screamed out from the uncomfortable position on the couch. He slowly sat up, groaning as his joints popped and cracked sounding older then he actually was, then stop making his way into the kitchen for a drink of water. Roman had awoken at 4 a.m. and he let out an annoyed sigh before marching to his room and changing into his painting clothes before wandering out of the apartment, leaving Pat a text that he went to his studio.
The studio was large and sat waiting patiently for Roman to return. The male let out another sigh as he turned on the lights and shuffled through the maze of old or opened paint cans that littered the floor, making his way over to a blank canvas where's his sat down and began his newly inspired work. He stopped for a break around lunch time checking over his work as he grabbed his phone and began calling his manger to see if they could get a grand revealing tonight at a local art museum or something. She spoke excitedly, ready to see his work again; surprised to even hear from him. A knock at his door caused Roman to end the call abruptly, standing and making his way over to the his door; dragging it open to see none other than his brother Remus and his partner Deceit. "Yes?" Roman asked in a soft voice, not wanting to deal with the two due to his forming headache. "Saw the lights on that thought we'd pop on in for a visit!" Remus grinned as he shoved passed his brother and walked around, "Wow, this place is an absolute mess!" Deceit rolled his eyes and walked inside, "It's been far too short, Roman." Roman merely nodded in agreement, "I was just finishing up some work." They wandered over to were Remus stared at the new piece of artwork, "So you've been inspired again, huh?" It was a lovely painting of Logan and Patton, quite happy together. Roman stared at the mediocre work and just gave a shrug, sitting down to munch on the sandwich he packed. "They don't look lovely at all," Deceit smiled at the artwork before looking to Roman, "Don't tell." "Just my roommate Patton and his partner Logan, who I met last night." Roman didn't look up from his food and gestured to a work behind him, "There's a housewarming gift for you." Remus skipped over and pulled the white sheet off of the canvas to reveal a really well done painting of Deceit and himself.
"Excellent job as ever!" Remus nodded and looked around before hurrying over to look at some more paintings, everyone surprised when Patton and Logan showed up. "Hey Roman! Just thought we'd come check on you!" Roman smiled weakly at Patton and waved at them both, "Doing fine, just finishing some work." "What's behind this sheet, Brother?" Remus' voice called out catching everyone's attention over to a rather large canvas that was covered with a large white sheet and a sticky note that said "Do NOT touch!" He raised his hands to pull off the sheet when Roman launched out of his seat, "Don't you dare touch that!!" His voice now loud and full of anger. Causing Remus to jump back, hands grabbing at anything to catch himself with. That anything turned out to be the white sheet Roman didn't want removed.
It jerked before sliding off revealing a painting of a man only 3 out of the 5 in the room had seen. Instantly Remus understood his mistake and tried to cover the painting back.
"Who is that? I've never seen him before." Patton said, knowing everyone that Roman painted to begin with. Roman stood there, unable to utter a single word. His body shook with anger and hate, but not towards his brother.
