Made Her Happier
She had managed to quickly change into new clothes, only to get soaked again as she dashed out the house without an umbrella.
Katsumi knew where she was going, but she was scared. Scared of hearing a painful truth.
She wasn't soaked to the bone from the rain... Just a little wet. She stood underneath a tree, fixing her shoe hurriedly, when a car pulled up beside her.
"Yuriko? What the hell are you doing out here?" Homare walks out his car with an umbrella, helping Katsumi up and shielding her with the umbrella, leading her into his car.
"I need to get to the hospital... I- t-they..." Katsumi stutters, looking out the window with panicked eyes. She wanted to explain, but then her phone began ringing. She answers.
"H-Hello?" "Ms. Yuriko? This is Koizumi, I need you over at the hospital right now. I need to discuss a few matters with you." In the quiet car and the loud volume of her phone, Homare managed to hear mostly everything and began driving into the direction of a hospital. His workplace hospital.

"I'm here. I need to see Dr. Koizumi at once." Katsumi demands once she steps into the ever familiar halls of the hospital.
"Ms. Yuriko! Of course, I'll page him down." the head nurse bows a greeting and immediately calls for the Yuriko and Tsukino family doctor, Koizumi.
Once he arrives, Katsumi immediately stands from her seat, Homare following suit, but staying a bit behind. He had heard of Koizumi, he was one of the highest ranking doctors and surgeons around, only treating to the higher class patients.
He had heard Koizumi can make and operation and check up. Never lost a patient.
He couldn't believe he was here.
"What happened?" Katsumi asked hesitantly, "I was on my way here already but... What happened?"
"As you know, hopefully," Koizumi said, gesturing to the letter poking out Katsumi's jacket pocket, which she had bought. "Keiichi was a heart condition. He had a donor but gave the donated heart away to someone else."
The news shocked Homare. Keiichi Tsukino was dying? Damn.
"But good news, we've found a matching heart from another donor. SO we'll be starting the surgery soon."
"I... Really?" "Yes, but Dr. Tsukuda will be performing the operation as I already have one scheduled."
"That... Thank you... Thank you so much..." But her relief and happiness was short lived when a nurse comes running into the conversation, politely bowing before turning to Koizumi.
"Doc, we have a problem! Tsukuda's wife just went into labor in another hospital and he's there right now for the birth..."
"What?!" Obvious panic flashes on the doctor's face. It wasn't only the reputation he was worried about, no, but he was a close friend of the Tsukino family, how bad would it look when their son died in his hands? "Well is there anyone free scheduled right now?" he tries.
"N-No, sir... Tsukuda was the only surgeon free who could perform the transfer... There's no one else available." "Bullshit! We only have one hour until the surgery. We can't lose him now..."
"I'm sorry sir, there's no one else." the nurse tries again, but then both her and Koizumi turn around when a dull thump sounds behind them.
They found Katsumi on her knees, head in hands as tears began flowing from her eyes again. "No... Oh god, please... No... There's got to be someone else!" she yells, in denial as she looks up to them with determined eyes, Homare merely watching on.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Yuriko. There's no-" " BULLSHIT!" She screams glaring at the nurse, who backs off quietly. "He has one hour left to live. You already have everything you need, and yet you-"
"I'll do it." a quiet, but clear voice says, making all three turn to Homare, who steps up. "What?" "I'll do it. I'm already a surgeon and doctor here."
"Midorikawa? You sure? This is your only-" "I said, I'll do it. Just get the equipment ready and lend me some operating scrubs."
~*****~
"So... H-How was it?" Katsumi mutters weakly, standing by the door once Homare came out the operating room. "It was successful. But he needs time to rest, he'll be transferred to a room later."
"Oh god... Thank you... Thank you, so much..." she begins crying again, hugging the man with tears in her eyes again. The man hesitantly wraps his arms around her as well, hugging her sort of awkwardly.
"Thank you..."

Time passed, seconds, to minutes, to hours, to days, to weeks and soon enough, 3 months.
The wedding was pushed back, and here she was now, back in her wedding dress, as beautiful as ever. "Finally ready for the wedding, huh, Kat?" Katsuki smiled at his sister.
"Yeah... Finally, huh? Almost two years..." She fondly looks at the aisle set with rose petals. It was funny to think that only about a year ago, she was engaged to a man she hated. Then she fell in love with him, then went through the shit that happened 3 months ago. Now she was here, finally ready to love and settle down again.
Just then, the familiar music from almost three months ago began playing again. "You ready?" "As I'll ever be." Katsumi answers her brother with a smile, looping her own arm in his as they walked underneath the flower arch that led to the aisle.
For a moment, Katsumi looked around and saw her friends and co-workers. She saw the ever close group, Chii and Naka with the boys. Her eyes met Homare's. She smiled at him, thanking him for the hundredth time for everything he's done.
Even though she didn't notice it, Homare forced a smile back, a slight smile, but one that showed his support. She didn't need to be confused on her wedding day, have second thoughts or anything. SO he'll just keep it to himself.
"Keiichi Tsukino, do you promise to honor, love, protect, and give your everything to Katsumi?"
"I do."
"And Katsumi, do you promise to-" "I do." she interrupts, smiling happily at her soon to be husband.
"Now, before this, if anyone objects to this marriage, let them speak now or forever hold their peace." The priest says, looking around.
Homare so desperately wanted to raise his hand, he so desperately wanted to just spill everything. Tell her everything.
But he bit it back, watching as the priest smiled and continued on.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."

As the music flowed easily through the speakers, the couple glided across the dance floor, hugging each other tightly as they swayed around continuously, moving to the soft melody.
"Hey, you okay, Midorikawa?" Taketo comes up to Homare, drinks in hand, handing one to the doctor.
"Yeah, I'm cool." he answers, talking a gulp of his drink. "Hey, man... I know how you feel, 'kay? But sometimes it's better to just let them go and find someone else." Taketo says, sighing with a small smile, looking towards his brother and Chii.
"What?" Homare asked, looking towards them as well. "No one really knew, huh? I've liked Chii way before Yasuto and her got together, but surprisingly, I've never actually had the guts to ask her out."
"Damn..." "Exactly. And they're getting married soon, and I need to settle down, too. I'm gonna find someone else. And you should too."
He looked towards the dance floor again. "I will... But I just want one dance..." he sighs, handing his cup to Taketo as the song finished.
Before they could start dancing again, Homare tapped Keiichi's shoulder, making the man turn and move to the side slightly. "Can I have a dance?" "O-Of course." Keiichi nods and moves away from his wife, turning towards his older sister, asking her for a dance.
"May I have this dance?" "Sure."
'I love you.' 'I miss you.' 'Please... come back to me.' 'I can't let you go.'
These were the words running through his mind as he danced with the love of his life. Ever since he fell in love with her, ever since he found out she loved him... This is what he had dreamed of. Dancing with her at their wedding.
And it came true, he danced with her. Just that... It wasn't their wedding, she doesn't love him as much as he did anymore, it wasn't their love.
She pulled him into a hug as they danced, which was only making it harder for him to let go. "Thank you... For everything..." she whispered. They shared a quick hug, but this time, just as friends, and nothing more.
As he let her go, the song ended. But in his heart and mind, they danced to no end, just like his love for her will never end.
Love, it was a strange thing. It's a crazy, unexplained thing.
But he couldn't help but fall into it, despite the cons.
But he couldn't help it either, that she was in love with someone else. He couldn't help that she found someone else.
Someone who made her much happier than he ever did.

A/N:
And here's another ending, everyone!
This is more of the angst side ending as you know, Homare saved Keiichi and all that good shit and yeah, helped Katsumi finally marry the love of her life.
I will be writing about two more endings, one if I get writer's block.
I hope you enjoyed this alternate ending, thanks for reading!
Ciao!
