Lying To Myself

A/N: Trigger warning for this chapter. There will be a scene here that may trigger different things for readers. Read with caution please.

It was kind of hard to accept that the girl you loved, loved a man who just hurt her and broke her heart from the beginning.

But then again, you couldn't really complain when you were the first to break her heart before any other.

That was Homare's reasoning as he ducked away from the door, walking off and back into their party room. Just then, a slightly tipsy Kanji comes stumbling to Homare, "Hey, Homare! Where were you?!"

"Using the bathroom." he replies, keeping his gaze away from him.  "Well come on, you're falling behind on the drinks!" Taketo laughs, grabbing Homare's arm and dragging him to the table. "Hold on, where's Kat?"

Chii's question makes everyone stop for a moment and look around. "Actually, where's Nagisa, as well?" Yasuto questions. "They're having an affair!" Naka cheers, obviously a bit drunk from the way her cheeks flush as she staggers around, letting Kanji support her.

As much as Homare wanted to object to that, that would mean blowing his cover about listening in on their conversation. He tightens his jaw and looks away, taking a huge gulp of his wine. "Hey, we're back." On cue, Kat and Nagisa enter with Nagisa's ever present smile and Kat's ever blank poker face.

"Where were you guys?" Taketo voices everyone's question as they sit down. "I took a breather outside, I just saw Ichinose there."

"Alright, now come on! Let's take one more shot and party!" Kanji cheers, raising his shot glass. Everyone else cheers except for Homare who quietly stares out the window, Katsumi smiling lightly as she watches her friends.

The night ended with no more incidents and after calling her driver here, Katsumi had ordered for Kanji, Naka and Chii and Yasuto to use as their ride home. Of course Chii and Yasuto tried to object but Katsumi said she had wanted walk that night.

It was already late, a dangerous time for her to walk alone for sure, but she didn't take self defense classes for nothing.

She walks through the empty streets, lit only by the street lights. Sighing, she pulls her jacket around her tightly, listening to her heels click on the sidewalk as she strolls through.

"My god... Why these fucking heels..." she cusses under her breath as she sits on a bench to examine her probably blistered feet.

Removing the 3 inch heels for a moment, Katsumi lets the cool air soothe her sore feet. Taking a deep breath, she looks across the streets from her seat on the bench. She was just fine and was putting her heels back on when suddenly three men came staggering her way, obviously drunk as the smell of alcohol wafted from them.

"Hey look, it's a cute girl." one slurs, walking- well, more like tumbling over to Katsumi's side, pulling her up from the bench. "Hey, cutie... Wanna come with us for the night?" Another garbles, wrapping an arm around her waist.

"I'd rather not spend a night with douches like you." she snarls, untangling herself from the man. "Come on, you have all three of us for a whole night, sound like a good offer, no?"

"No. Now let me go before I scream or punch on of you in your ugly ass faces."

"Tch, what a bitch. Grab her boys," one man orders, making his other two friends grab her, one covering her mouth. They drag her into an alley where the ring leader pins her against the wall, pushing his lips against hers.

Struggling with all her might and trying to make as much noise as possible, Katsumi tries to turn her face away. But a scream tears from her mouth when one of the men lets his hands roam over her body, reaching for the buttons of her blouse. But of course, her screams were only taken in by the kiss one of her assaulter had forced on her.

Out the corner of her eye, she sees the third one standing idly by, licking his lips before he kneels down, reaching for her skirt and stockings. Her eyes widen even more and tears begin pooling from her eyes.

Even more of her screams were muffled by the kiss, but the screams came from the fright when she felt two hard erections against both her thighs. Soon, her blouse was unbuttoned, letting the cool air hit her warm skin.

The man stopped for a moment, wanting to catch his breath from the kiss. And of course, the lawyer takes the opportunity to yell as loud as she could, wanting to grab some attention. But by the way the streets were all empty, she was losing hope pretty fast.

When a hand grabs her thigh, trying to force her legs apart, she closes her eyes, feeling absolutely hopeless. Maybe she could take one down, but with the two others, she just didn't have anymore faith.

Just then, she felt the weight of the ring leader fall off and she slowly opened her eyes to see the three men all sprawled out, the leader knocked out and the other two groaning in pain. Her hero was on the phone, presumably the police.

But as she approached the man slowly, she got the whiff of the familiar cologne he was wearing. It was one she smelled frequently at home, and one she would smell whenever she did laundry.

It was her fiance, Keiichi.

"K-Keiichi...?" she mutters once he hung up. The man turned around, looking at her. But she couldn't see the normal coldness or empty blank space in his eyes as he stared at her. But surprisingly, she could see worry in his face.

She had her back turned to the men, and Keiichi noticed the glint of a knife that was heading for her foot. He pushed her out the way, and the man's stab landed in Keiichi's leg instead. "Asshole." Keiichi growls, using his good foot, luckily his right, to kick the man in the face. Hard.

The man gets knocked out and in no time, Katsumi was down and inspecting her fiance's leg. "It's not a deep wound but still, we need to patch it up. She turned around and looked at the knocked out bodies of the men and she suddenly found herself tangled in Keiichi's arms as the man hugs her from behind.

A red blush grows on her cheeks as his deep voice sounds above her. "Are you okay...?"

"Baka... You're the one who's hurt. We need to go home and patch this up." she tried turning around, but he shook his head. "You need to get interviewed about this. But I'll be fine."

"Keiichi..."

After a long interview, Katsumi found her fiance sitting outside, waiting for her with a bandaged leg. "Let's go." he says quietly, wrapping an arm around her waist. She didn't mind it. They normally never did this unless it was for show but...

"Gomen'nasai..." she suddenly whispered, stopping in her tracks as Keiichi looked towards her. "I already told you it was fine. Besides, what kind of man am I not saving a woman who needs it? Especially my own fiancee." he replies with a smile and slightly soft eyes.

"But... I..." "No more. We need to head home, the butlers and maids didn't get a warning we would be late, they're worried, most likely." He tries walking, but then he suddenly staggers, unable to take weight.

"Let's go. Just take my shoulder." Katsumi says, placing his arm around her shoulders as they begin walking. "I suppose I... Thank you, Katsumi."

Head down, her eyes widen. He's never called her Katsumi before. It was mostly just last names, unless it's a front. But never first names when they're alone.

"I should be thanking you... If you didn't pass by I... I probably would've ended up..." she mumbled, unable to finish her sentence. "You don't have to say anything, just... Just don't look back at it."

Keiichi was already asleep in his own room, or so Katsumi thought. The man was sitting against her door, leaning as he listened her mumbling to herself.

"You just can't fall for him... Kat, what the hell is wrong with you?!"

He listens carefully to her words.

"He has his mistress, this marriage is nothing but of benefit. Just find someone else..."

But her next words made his heart ache. It was guilt, but not about his affair. But for a reason he didn't want to show because of feelings.

"But I can't keep lying to myself..."
