Be There Soon

A/N: Okay... Before we get started, I forgot how to tell you all in the last chapter that after the chapter titled 'Running', I will be writing one more chapter before the endings. Now, if you want another ending after this one, please PM me or comment down below!

Katsumi found herself in her soaked wedding dress and Keiichi's jacket, standing in front of the hospital where he was reportedly admitted.  People gave her strange looks as she walked through the halls, but she ignored them and stopped at the nurse station.

"I'm looking for Keiichi Tsukino." she says, breathing heavily.

"I'm sorry, but may I have your relationship with him?" probably the head nurse, a woman steps up.

"Katsumi Yuriko, fiancee." she says quietly, impatiently tapping her fingers on the wood of the station desk. "Ah, we apologize, Ms. Yuriko... He's asleep right now to rest and doctors don't allow any visitors since he's already very weak. They'll be trying to save him, and they're trying to find a heart donor last minute..."

And idea popped into her head. "May I... May I at least see his doctor to find out about his current condition?"

"I... I don't know... I think-" the nurse says but Katsumi was desperate. "Please! Today was supposed to be our wedding... I just really need to know how he's doing... Please..." she bows her head lowly, clutching her wedding dress in her cold hands.

"I'll see what I can do... Just please sit down over there." the nurse gestures to a row seats lined against the wall of the hallway. "Mhm. Thanks you..." she says gratefully and follows the orders, fiddling with her fingers.

After a few minutes and a phone call, the nurse calls out. "Ms. Yuriko, the doctor agreed. Akira will lead you to his office." Another nurse waves to Katsumi slightly, gesturing for her to follow her.

"Dr. Koizumi? Keiichi's fiancee is here." The nurse calls into the office after respectfully knocking. "Let her in."

Sitting herself in front of the doctor across the desk, Katsumi crosses her legs and begins fiddling with her fingers again. "Dr. Koizumi." she greets with a small bow, looking up to see the man nodding in acknowledgment.

"So you wanted to know about Keiichi's condition?" "Yes, please... I just found out about it today after he left me this letter two days ago, he told me to read it today." she hands him the envelope, and the doctors waves it off.

"He already told me. He knows he's going to die, and as much as I regret to say, Ms. Yuriko... It doesn't look like he'll make it..."

"W-What... Why?" "I know... He recited me the letter he wrote to you before we brought him into his room and onto life support. He gave away his heart from the donor to another young man. Ad we only have three hours to find one or he's gone."

The doctor says quietly, sighing. "But so far, none of the hearts from different donors seem to match for him... It just won't end well."

Biting her lip, Katsumi debates whether or not her decision is a good one before releasing a sigh.

"Koizumi? I'd like to try something..."

Hours later, but what felt like an eternity, Keiichi awoke to the sound the rain pitter pattering on his hospital room window. "They found another donor...?" he muttered confused, placing a hand on his chest where his heart is.

"We did actually, a last minute one." his doctor enters the room, hearing Keiichi's muttering. "Well... Um do you know the donor's name? Or did they prefer to stay anonymous?" he asked, eyes wide.

"Well... They actually said not to say anything about them. Not until you read this actually." Koizumi replied, handing him an envelope.

"I'll take my leave and give you some time... The nurses will be checking on you occasionally." With a nod, Koizumi left as Keiichi investigated the sealed envelope.

He quietly opens it and unfolds the neatly folded piece of letter paper. Then, a letter written in familiar writing caught his attention.

Hey Keiichi...

I know this is a bit last minute. I'm a bit hurt, but don't worry, I don't blame you, I would've done the same thing. Just... I guess I wished you told me earlier so we could've done something about it.

Um, if you look a bit more in the envelope you'll find something meant for both of us. But that's not what I wrote this for.

If Koizumi told you what he was supposed to, you know by now that I'm your heart donor, but unfortunately, they couldn't save me in the process. Well of course, you took me heart anyway. Physically and emotionally.

I just wrote this to tell you now. Keiichi, I want you to find someone, okay? Someone better than me, someone smarter, prettier, just someone better in general.

And I want you to find someone who will love you as much as I did, okay?

And I can't tell you not to cry, so if you want to, cry. Cry, get mad, shout, do anything you want.

But please, promise me. Promise me one thing.

That you'll move on after all that. That you'll find someone who can make you smile again, okay?

I love you so much Keiichi, I love you...

~Katsumi Tsukino

And the thunder crackled in the distance, the lightning flashing against the dark clouds. The man reaches into the envelope with shaky hands, to find a golden wedding ring. His wedding ring.

He slowly slipped it onto his finger, trying to hold the tears pooling in his eyes. But before long, he gave up, letting them flow freely as his breaths became choppy and shaky.

He clutched the letter close, his tears wetting the paper he grasped.

Three days later, the bidders and the group, along with a few others were gathered in the same park. Where Keiichi and Katsumi's wedding was held. Well, supposed to.

But it wasn't anything happy now. It was Katsumi's funeral.

Chii and Naka were crying in each other's arms, just like they did back when Katsumi was in the hospital long ago from a car crash. Except this time, she didn't come back to them. The rest of the gang stood by, Yasuto and Kanji holding their girlfriends while they wiped away their tears.

The bidders were all staring at the coffin, Eisuke quiet, Soryu still emotionless as ever, but his eyes betraying him when they overflowed with emotion. Ota and Baba were quiet for once, looking at Katsumi as Mamoru only muttered little things like 'how careless can you be, kid?'

But the small tears forming in all their eyes betrayed them each as they tried to hold it back. But what hurt the most was for Keiichi and Homare, who were both quiet, tears rolling down both their cheeks.

The two normally stoic men were standing over Katsumi, whom in their eyes, is still beautiful in whatever angle they look at her. They were each placing flowers in her coffin. But teh same words were running through both their heads as well.

'I miss you, I love you.'

Keiichi disappeared after that day, and no one saw him, not even his coworkers. But sometimes, the maids and butlers of their home could hear the pained cries of the man in the room he and Katsumi once shared.

The same thing with Homare, who stopped. Everything. He never returned to work, but Kanji had managed to convince him to stay at his house to take care of him, even though Kanji never saw his best friend.

As the days passed, the two were just unable to hold it anymore. Their rooms smelled of booze and their rooms were just chaos. Just like their hearts and minds.

The two men clutched the bottles of alcohol, the other hand fisted to hold the pills tightly.

Slipping the letters under the doors, they leaned against the door, blocking it as knocks began to sound. Shuffles were heard before the pounding on doors began to increase, worried shouts heard from the other side.

As they downed the unfamiliar pills and the alcohol, they waited for the effects to hit them, their surroundings swaying within a matter of seconds. Their heads began pounding, dizzy.

And as their visions began to fade, they made on more promise:

Just wait a little longer... I'll be there soon.
