I didn't mean to kill her

The pounding in my ears increased as I looked down at my hands, watching the drops of blood fall off every spot of skin. The more I watched, the more they and my fuzzy, dark sight became more clear. The drops echoed in unison with my breaths and heartbeat as they hit the concrete floor. I swallowed my fear as I looked around, catching the attention of bright white and red shades jumbled together in a corner. Goosebumps crawled up my back as I slowly turned on my heels to fully see what it was, only to stop dead in my tracks. My breath hitched as my jaw fell, eyes dropping to the face in front of me.

Hidden scenes suddenly raced through my view, every single thing a normal person would be sent to the looney bin for. Blood, death, people, every single action and feeling I've made and felt, every single person I have met, every single person I have killed. Including the one in front of me. I didn't mean to kill her unlike the others. It seemed as if in that moment, the parts of me that I spent so many years to push back inside of my mind, escaped out of their cell.

Fear began to quake inside of me, rupturing my anxiety and adrenaline for the second time that night. Pain shot through my knees as they hit the floor, forcing tears to fall down my cheeks. The severity lessened as the adrenaline found its way into my veins, making my hands shake as I grabbed at the materials in front of me. The body lay flat, moonlight shining through bars, carving a pattern on the lifeless face. As I go to move the body, I notice, for the first time, the position that her mouth lay. Her arms meet on each side of her hips while she has this smile that no dying or dead person should have. Why?

The sounds of crackling leaves and sticks made their way to my ears as they moved closer. To avoid the possibility of someone finding the body, I move her to the darker corner opposite of me. Silently, I wait for the sound to leave, but it doesn't. Every second that passed felt like a century went by, as if when I finally left this place, robots would be in the sky. Suddenly, the voices go silent. As much as I wanted to leave right then, I stayed in the same spot for a little longer just to make sure they were gone. When I felt it was the right time, I searched around, finding a blanket and covering the victim. Tucking the soaked pieces of blonde hair underneath, I look for an escape area. Before me, stood a ladder, old and rusted, hanging by loose hinges. I move to the ladder, taking one last glance at the scene with each step, creaks and sways left behind me. Once at the top, I grab the ground above me, mentally cursing at myself as a foreign object scratched my skin. The words stopped as the voices continued again, speeding up my movements. I pushed downwards on the ground, leaping and slamming my feet on the ground. The distinct words spoken by men became clear as I broke off into a sprint towards the woods.
