Author's Pov:

Mingyu woke up with an headache. "Here, drink this", Aera gave him soup. She avoided his gaze, "Your head must be exploding".

"Did something happened, Aera?", he asked. "Do you remember anything you said yesterday? First of all why did you get drunk?", she asked.

Mingyu nodded, "I remember everything I said last night and I am serious about that". Aera meet his eyes, "Why do you want me to go away from you?". Mingyu smiled sadly, "It will hurt you more, Aera. In future, I can hurt you more. It's better if you divorce me".

"I would have divorced you, Mingyu but because of Jiho I am staying", Aera said. "Did you again do something? Did you again go to Eunji?"

"Eh?", Mingyu looked at her face, her angry eyes boring right into his soul. He gulped, "N-No". He took the spoon to drink but it fell down. "Why are your hands trembling so much, Mingyu? Are you sick?", she checked his temperature but it was normal.

"Now a days your behavior scares me", Aera said. "Then leave me", Mingyu said. Aera scoffed, "I would love to".

"Hmm", Mingyu hummed. Aera sighed, "What happened, Mingyu?". Mingyu shook his head, "Nothing happened, what will happened, hehe". Aera made him look at her, "What are going to do as I have given you a second chance?", she asked.

Mingyu looked at her with wide eyes, "S-Second chance?". Aera nodded, "Just for Jiho. I am ready to let it go. I am ready to start from the beginning". Mingyu looked at her with hope, "I am ready to anything, Aera, anything". He held her hands.

"I don't want 'anything' as an answer, Mingyu. What if she comes back in your life and you leave us?", Aera asked. "I'll never, Aera. I have learnt my lesson. I am not going to do anything like this again. If I do, you can divorce me, Aera. I won't say anything", Mingyu answered. His eyes told, he was adamant to make things right.

"I am giving you a last chance, Mingyu", Aera said.  Mingyu took the spoon from her hand and was about to eat when she took it back, "It fell down. I'll bring the another one".

As Aera went out, Mingyu let out a breath which he was holding for so long. "I need to tell her, otherwise it will create more problems", Mingyu whispered. He took his phone to see his mother's message.

'I am coming tomorrow'

Mingyu immediately kept his phone aside, "Arghh, now she will create extra problem".

Aera came and have him the spoon, "Here. I got a message from your mother. She is coming today". Mingyu nodded, "Yeah, she finally remembered she has a son". His tone sounded arrogant.

"Don't say that, Mingyu. She is your mother. Seeing you behave like this even Jiho hates her. Also no pranks on her this time. I don't want to see anything. I want our anniversary to go without any problem this time", Aera said. "I hate it when she talks bad about you, I also hate the way she talks to you", Mingyu grumbled.

"You are her only son, Mingyu. Also you the only person for her. You never talk to her nor does she. You act like it doesn't matter but it does. You miss her don't you?", Aera asked, "You both used to be so close until our marriage but then...".

"Answer my question Aera, why doesn't she come on other events like mine, yours or Jiho's birthday? Why only on our marriage anniversary?", Aera couldn't answer.

"She is my mother, Aera. I always know why she does something", Mingyu said. Aera shook her head, "When was the last time you called her?".

"I don't remember. I don't even call her", Mingyu said. "You should call her, Mingyu. She lives there alone. Just like without Jiho you have a hard time, your mother must feeling same way", Aera said. Mingyu hugged her waist, "I miss her, Aera".

She hands, out of habit played with his hair, "Mingyu, try to close the distance". Mingyu pouted, "She always tries to taunt you and I hate it".

Aera twisted his ear. "Ouch! What is that for?", he yelled. "For keeping distance with your mother. Don't do that, Mingyu. You are her only child, she must be missing you. Also she never taunts me, okay?".

Mingyu scoffed, "Keep lying to yourself". He kept the spoon aside and took the bowl in his hand drinking it in one sip. "Yah, slowly", Aera scolded.

"I ate everything already. I just needed to drink it. I would taken a lot of time", Mingyu said jumping off the bed. Aera laughed seeing his hair bounce.

"Aren't you going for work today?", she asked. Mingyu shook his head, "Why don't just two of us spend some time together, like we used to do before?". Aera looked at him, "But aren't you taking too many holidays? Wouldn't it affect your business?".

"I'll handle everything, Aera. Just answer yes or no", he asked. Aera nodded, "Yes".

"So get ready soon, sweetheart. I have planned something", Mingyu winked. "But what have you planned?", Aera asked.

"Why don't we live those old moments again?", Mingyu said. Aera furrowed her brows, "Like our old dates and all?". Mingyu excitedly nodded, "Yep, those dates. So get ready quickly. As you said let's start from the beginning".

Mingyu entered washroom, his smiled dropped in instant, "I'll tell you everything today".

Time skip:

"Amusement park?", Aera whispered. "Yes, our first date", Mingyu said giving her a side hug. Aera laughed, "Are you still afraid of sitting on roller-coaster?". Mingyu shook his head, "I can sit now but just hold my hand".

Their whole day went in amusement parks recreating amd talking about their old memories. "I need to go to the washroom. Please wait here", Mingyu said leaving Aera. As she stood there, she saw a familiar face waving at her.

"Hey! You are here alone?", Minghao asked. "No, I am with Mingyu". Minghao frowned, "Did I miss something?"

Aera nodded, "A lot". Aera told him everything, "And he now went to washroom". Minghao and Aera talked for a while, "It is good idea though", Minghao said. Aera looked at the direction Mingyu went.

"He is still not here", Aera said. "Let's go and find him then", Minghao said. While searching for him, they came across an couple. "Dear, can you please take a picture of us?", the  women asked who looked like she in her 40's. Aera nodded taking the camera in her hand.

After taking the picture, Aera handed them the camera, "Did you like it?". The couple nodded, "Thank you so much, here is a small gift for you both". They gave Aera and Minghao a couple bracelet, "Here, I had this extra one. So I am giving it to you. It will look good on you both".

"Umm thank you, but we are actually not couples", Minghao cleared the confusion. The couple apologised, "You can use it as your best friends though. It will look good on you both. We are sorry for the misunderstanding". The couple apologised once again and went.

Aera looked at those bracelets, "What should I do with this?". Minghao thought for a second and then said, "Why don't you and Mingyu use it?".

Aera looked at those bracelets, "But where is he?". She sighed. Jist then Mingyu came running, "You are here". Aera looked at him, "Where were you?". Mingyu scratched his ear, "I lost my way to the wash room".

Aera shook her head in disbelief, "Here, a couple gave us this bracelets". Aera showed him the couple bracelets. "Umm, Aera. I think we need to leave. Jeonghan called me, he said Jiho is crying to meet us".

Aera nodded her head and then turned to Minghao, "I'll go. Bye". Minghao nodded. "Oh, you are here too. I didn't see you. Are you here with your girlfriend?", Mingyu asked. He shook his head, "Nope. I am here with my colleagues. I'll go, they must be searching for me".

Minghao waved his hand and went. Mingyu looked at Aera who was smiling and waving him back. Mingyu felt a pang in his heart.

"Let's go, shall we?", Aera asked. Mingyu fake smiled and nodded, intertwining their hands. Minghao looked back to see them going, a smile displayed on his face, "Always smile like that".

While driving back, Mingyu kept glancing at Aera. He was nervous, thinking how she would react about Eunji's pregnancy. "Mingyu!", she said, "We are past Jeonghan's house".

Mingyu stopped his car and looked around, "Y-Yeah". Reversing the car, he stopped infront of Jeonghan's house. "I think you should go first, I'll come".

Jeonghan welcomed her with a smile. "Jiho-ya, your Eomma is here", he shouted. Jiho came running hearing this, "Why did you  come so early? Baby Yuna just woke and she was playing with me".

"Really? But Jeonghan told us that you were crying to meet us. Even your face says that", Aera said pinching his nose. Jiho hugged her arm, "When I woke up this morning, you weren't there. So I thought you left me".

Aera caressed his hair, "I'll never leave you, my baby". Jiho pouted, "But last night you did".

"I had some work. So, I had to go. Didn't I call you today morning?", Aera said. Jiho played with sleeves, "You did".

"Are we living together now?", Jiho asked. Aera nodded and smiled. "But where is Appa?", Jiho asked. "He must be coming in".

Jiho saw Mingyu entering the house, "Appa". Mingyu sat beside Aera and smiled at Jeonghan who didn't reciprocate his smile. "Eomma, can you wait a minute. I'll quickly go and say bye to the baby".

"Where is Minjee?", Aera asked. "She must be sleeping. I didn't even tell her you are coming. Wait I'll call her".

Aera stopped him, "Don't. She must be tried, let her sleep". Jeonghan looked at Mingyu, "One last warning, Kim Mingyu". He looked down and nodded his head. 

By the time they reached their house, Jiho was already asleep. "Wait", Mingyu said and carefully picked him up. Aera opened the door and let them go in first.

Jiho kept his head on Mingyu's shoulder. Aera smiled seeing him. Jiho slowly opened his eyes and  smiled giving a thumbs up and a flying kiss to his mother. Let's not forget the wink he added later. Aera shook her head, and gave him a flying kiss. He again closed his eyes.

"He is so happy seeing us together again", Aera whispered. Jiho hugged Mingyu tightly. Aera stood by the door, as Mingyu tucked him in.

But sometimes life doesn't go the way you want. Life is full of ups and downs, it has it's own way of giving it.
