Mondays and Thursdays at 8/7 Central
Naomi's POV
"Do you think Roman was acting a little...I don't know strange?" I ask the younger Bella as we walk down the hallway together.
"Strange how?" She asks me back.
"I don't know, he seemed a little...distracted after he got off the phone." I mutter.
"Who seemed a bit distracted?" Questions my ex as he connects with our walk down the hallway.
"Your cousin." Nikki says before thinking and I glare at her, not interested in having Jimmy try to fix anything.
Nicole catches my look and her eyes widen. I was only thankful that Jimmy spoke before she could say 'I'm sorry', which would have added more suspicion and questions.
"I have a lot of cousins." The Uso laughs. "Would you care to enlighten me on which one?"
"Mina." I lie quickly. Tamina Snuka was one of my best friends and she would take a bullet for me, I didn't have to worry about a white lie.
"Mina?" Jimmy questions and Nikki and I nod.
"I talked to her earlier," Nikki starts her lie. "She seemed a little off."
"I'll see about it after my match." The Samoan says just like I knew he would. It was a single reason we had broken up in the first place; he tried to solve everything for me.
"Yep, that's great but right now you should probably go fix that smudge from your paint." I chime and he blinks at me.
"What smudge? Is there a smudge?" He questions quickly, inquiring about the paint on his face.
I just barely lick the tip of my thumb then rub a small line on Jimmy's paint. Just big enough to drive his OCD-ness over the edge.
"Yep, there is definitely one there." I laugh and he gapes at me.
"WHY ARE YOU SO EVIL?" The twin cries playfully.
"I have nine other fingers, would you like me to utilize them Jonathan?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "Nah, that's alright fam, that's why I'm just gonna tell Big E that you need a dose of positivity."
"If you don't keep E's big self away from me..." I groan jokingly and he laughs.
"Too late." He says and I roll my eyes at him. "Imma catch up with y'all later though." He says before doing a 180 degree turn and walking the other direction.
"You guys were so cute." Nikki gushes and I smile at her.
"Key word 'were'. People just don't know what goes on behind closed doors. It gets hard to deal with after a while." I say and the Bella nods in a understanding way. "Then you start getting confused because people will say how cute you are together but you know what's happening in the backdrop and it's the farthest thing from cute."
"I could understand that." She mutters quietly. Before I can inquire about it though she speaks again. "So what about Roman?" She asks.
"I don't know. We don't really know each other, so I don't exactly plan on just throwing anything at him. Maybe talk into it, somehow."
She nods then glances down the adjacent hallways, something catching her eye. "Hey, I have to go talk to a certain beast about a suplex city, but I'll catch back up with you after I do."
"Alright sweets." I say and she smiles and walks the other way down the hall. I had forgotten that she and Brock were surprisingly close.
I wander down the halls and sigh when I hear the steady thud of clapping behind me. Like, right behind me.
Literally right there.
In my ear.
"E..." I start but then am cut off.
"NAOMAY." He cries and I can't help but laugh. "DON'T YOU DARE BE SOUR. CLAP FOR YOUR BIG FRIEND, AND FEEL THE POWER!"
"I feel it, E." I laugh.
"THEN CLAP WITH ME." He laughs and I do as he says, not really seeing a reason not to.
"Yep, I'm feeling it." I say while doing Kofi's skip.
"Then let's spread it like butter!" He says enthusiastically then starts down the hallway in his skip and I copy it, catching up with him.
"New Day Rocks." He chants and I join him.
We pass by Dolph and he stares at the two of us.
"Dolph Ziggler!" I exclaim.
"Don't you dare be sour. Clap with your WWE coworkers, and feel the power!" E finished.
He laughs then shrugs and throws his bottle of water into the nearest trash can and claps along with us, following us down the hallway in a line; E, then myself, then Dolph.
E turns the corner and I hear it before I see it.
"AWHH SETH ROLLINS." The New Day member shouts.
I turn the corner as well and see a very startled looking Seth Rollins standing there.
"Don't you dare be sour!" I yell at him and it only makes him look more startled.
Dolph jumps from around the corner. "Clap with your WWE coworkers!"
"And feel the power!" We all yell at the same time.
"What the hell..." Seth mutters but we had already started moving again without him. "Hey wait!" I hear him say then joins us, thus making our line longer.
"AWH Cesaro!" Dolph yells and the Swiss man barely looks up due to the headphones on his head. When he sees us though he takes them off.
"Don't you dare be sour!" Big E and Seth say at the same time.
Cesaro sighs and shakes his head, holding up a hand. We stop clapping and stare at him.
He walks to the end of the line and puts his head phones back on. "Well let's go then." He says with a grin, while clapping the oh so familiar rhythm.
"AYE!" E yells and hits the clapping much harder than before, doing the same to his skipping.
We chant as we continue down the hallways, picking up various more Superstars and Divas such as Becky, Tyler , Xavier and Kofi of course, Renee and Jojo, Neville; heck we even got Dean to at least clap, even if he would walk rather than skip.
"Hold it everybody, hold it!" Big E yells stopping the whole line in its entirety. "Be extremely quiet." He says while guiding us to catering but not entering.
"NOW I WANT YOU TO BE AS LOUD AS YOU CAN." He whisper yells at us. "On my cue!" He says and Randy Orton walks slowly by us staring a very judge mental stare.
"Uhh. I'm gonna go..." He turns to walk away but is forced into the current line by Renee.
"Yes, thank you." E thanks and Renee holds up a thumbs up. "Get ready everyone! Places, places!" He says in a proper tone then turns around with so much torque there was a breeze.
"AWHHHH CATERING!" He damn near screams then kicks the door open so hard I'm sure WWE would be paying for its replacement. Everyone looks up and stares, clearly terrified by the sudden outburst.
"DON'T YOU DARE BE SOUR! CLAP WITH YOUR WWE COWORKERS!" He raises both his arms with a sudden jerk and I assume it was the cue.
And I assume the rest of the line did as well as we all burst. "AND FEEL THE POWER!!!!!!"
"IT'S A NEW DAY, YES IT IS!" Xavier and Kofi call from the back and we all clap and skip around catering, making people dance along with us.
"AND YOU GUYS DIDN'T TELL ME!" Sasha yells while jumping from her seat to dance.
I laugh and clap happily. "Sorry, deary."
I glance over to the corner, though, and catch a large, tattooed Samoan watch on with an amused, yet crooked smile.
Even though a small reason Jimmy and I got a divorce was because he was always trying to solve other people's or my problems I couldn't help but to be guilty of the same offense.
I walk over and sit in the chair across from Roman. He looks over at me and smiles.
"Hey." He says in his smooth yet husky voice.
"Hey." I greet back and was about to ask why he wasn't joining the abrupt dance party when he chuckles.
"I didn't know the company came with free flash mobs." He comments with a smile.
"Eh, well," I say leaning back in my chair and he looks over at me. "Only Monday's and Thursday's at 8/7 Central." I joke and he laughs lightly.
"Well, slight problem with that." He says.
"And that is?"
He picks up his phone and glances at it. "It's 9:36." He smirks. "At night."
"Hey, but it's Monday, is it not?" I exclaim.
"You've definitely got me there." He says putting his hands up.
Small talk? Yes, definitely small talk. I hate it. But maybe it's a way to ease in.
But how do you begin a conversation like this?
'So, how have you been lately?' No, typical chin music. I would aggravate myself doing that.
"How come you aren't dancing?" I ask. The question comes from my mouth before I can process it and I'm not sure why. Just more chitchat. It's simply chitchat in disguise.
"Hm?" He asks me.
"You aren't joining the..." I search for the appropriate word. "Impromptu New Day fest. How come?"
"Got a lot on my mind." He says simply.
"Well that seems stressful." I say more to myself but he nods. "Need someone to vent to?"
He looks over at me and studies my face for a moment. "No, that's ok. I'm not one for troubling other people with my crap." He gives a ghost of a half smile that doesn't reach his eyes. "Thank you though."
"I know how you feel." I say, thinking about how I was never one to tell others how I felt about things.
"If you really do then you'd probably make the first." He tries but then his phone buzzes. He looks down at it and I can't help but become a bit curious and look at the screen lying on the table.
On it appears a photo of himself in a gray suit and a woman in a wedding dress, along with a little white-dressed girl standing in front of them on the beach as they all smiled. The contact read Home, the answer and decline buttons waiting for a response.
I had never met them, but I knew that the females were his wife and daughter, both of them extremely gorgeous.
"Beautiful family." I say with a smile as I look up at him, but his eyes just linger on the phone.
"Yeah..." He says as his jaw clenches and the phone continues buzzing.
It goes on for a few seconds before I look from him to the phone and back. "Are you gonna answer it?" I ask lightly and feel as if it might have to do with what was 'on his mind'.
He seems as if he breaks out of a trance when he looks up at me. "Yeah." He says but it sounded almost more like a question he were asking himself.
"Yeah." He says stronger this time and picks the phone up from the table. "Sorry. I'll see you around." He says while sliding the green answer button to the middle of the screen but I couldn't help but feel as if the were hesitation in his choice.
"You too." I say but he had already walked away from the now crowded and loud catering area.
A beautiful wife, a beautiful daughter, beautiful home and family. What more could he be wanting?
But I push the question to the far corner of my mind as I get up to join the rest of the superstars in catering.
Though while I danced I couldn't help but feel the question still tugging at the corners of my brain, impetrating entrance into my thoughts, pleading to be answered.
What could the Roman Reigns not be happy about?
