Chapter 4

Harry scrambled out of his cubord and ran to the living room, trying to find tissues.

He calmed himself down and wiped his face off, then struggled to climb on a chair and sat down at the kitchen table. He looked around, then at the leftover cake crumbs Vernon left on the table.

Harry wasted no time licking every crumb he could get, savoring the slightest bit of food he could get. He sighed happily and sat back, then looked out the back door.

Which he noticed was unlocked.

He stared at it a few minutes and hopped off his chair, then waddled to the door. He pawed at the door handel, then got the door open.

He gasped. He hadn't ever been able to open this door. He didn't know what to do. The shade was always down, so Harry couldn't ever see outside. He pushed the door open and was met with the blinding light of the sun.

Harry hissed and staggered back, covering his eyes. He tried to adjust his blurry vision to the sun, but no luck. He put his hand over his eyes, then went to the door.

He saw green plants and colorful flowers, the blue sky and the clouds, bird chirping, and a freindly dog that came by to bark at him, get pet, then gave Harry a stick and ran away, leaving Harry a giggling mess.

Once Harry recovered, he waved goodbye to the dog and looked around even more. He saw more houses and a few people, but they just slammed their doors shut.

Harry stood at the way edge of the door, looking at his feet. He remembered the rules of the Dursleys.

1. No going outside.

He was NOT allowed to ever leave the house. Ever. That was the number one rule.

2. Always obey the Dursleys.
3. Use yes sir and yes ma'am.
4. No laughing
5. No talking back.
6. No believing in magic
7. No believing in any God
8. No toys
9. No eating unless told
10. No toys
11. No talking
12. No bathing unless told

Harry always obeyed the rules.

But instead, today he giggled,

"Too bad, uncle Vernon!"

And with that giggle, he ran out of the house.
