Casey moved faster than light, his movements fluid as his seraph blade sliced through the flesh of mere men and Silent Brothers alike. His blade was an extension of his arm, his face so content one would think he was conducting an orchestra rather than committing murder.
Valentine watched his creation move, pride swelling within him - he had created this creature. This being that was lethal and regimental, and was utterly loyal to him. "Casey." He called as the boy wiped the blade against the back of his sleeve.
Casey rose his head, his eyes hollow as he awaited his fathers orders. "It's time to get Jonathan." "Yes father." He nodded, kicking the body to the side as his father ducked his head and entered another room built on stone and the bones of fallen shadowhunters.
Casey followed him, his eyes landing on the Silent Brother that lay dead on the floor. No doubt his father had thrown the blade when his back wad turned.
"An unfortunate loss." Valentine sighed, as he raised the soul sword. "But he gave me no choice, he wouldn't let it out of his hands."
Jace's horror filled eyes moved from Valentine to Casey, gasping as he saw his face. "Casey what has he done to you." He murmered in pain, his eyes locked on the scars and burns that covered half of his face.
"He did what you never could Jonathan." Valentime answered as Casey stood silent, his blade by his side. "He became loyal to me. Yes, it took a bit of persuasion, but us Morgensterns always were stubborn."
Jace growled and reached through the bars to grab Valentine. Instantly Casey was by his side, his blade pointed at Jace's neck through the bars. Jace recoiled, shocked at what Casey had done. Valentine smiled, and pressed his hand against his sons arm. "It's okay Casey, stand down."
"Yes father." Casey replied, monotonous as he resumed his former stance. Valentine knelt down and pulled the blade from the Silent Brother's back as two men took ahold of Aldertree. He inspected the blade and held it up and he moved closer to the bars of jace's cell.
"Hello Jonathan." He cooed. "Do you see what these people do to you when I'm not around to protect you?"
Jace leaned forward and grabbed the bars, his knuckles whitening from his tight grip. "No I'm here because you made a son with demon blood."
"Still so little appreciation after all I've done for you." Valentine sighed. "You don't see your brother whingeing do you? And you think your lifes hard with demon blood? Try being your brother. There's no longer even a part of him that's human. But still he is loyal, he is worthy."
"You ruined his life." Jace snarled.
"No Jonathan." Valentine sighed. "I made it better. I made him better. But still we come back for you. You think it was easy breaking in here to rescue you? It took effort! I set up a demon attack on the Institute, as a diversion."
"You did what?" Aldertree whimpered from the corner and Casey momentarily turned his gaze to him before deciding he didn't care enough to look at him any longer.
"No, you're not here for me." Jace argued. "You're here for the soul sword."
"Father if I may." Casey inquired and his father nodded gesturing for him to continue. "Jonathan you have two options. One; life imprisonment at the hands of the Clave, or you can come and fight with our Father and have purpose."
Jace blinked back the tears as he looked at what his best friend had become and he stepped back. "I guess jumping off the boat wasn't clear enough."
Valentine clasped his son's shoulder as he sighed once more. "Then we'll do it the hard way. Take him." He ordered and the two men dragged Aldertree forward and presses his hand to the stone tablet, opening the cell door.
"Thank you for your assistance." Valentine smiled. Hodge reached through the cell bars and grabbed Valentine. Casey moved forward and pulled a knife from his back pocket, flinging it at the mans head. As Jace grabbed the Soul Sword he saw Casey throw the knife and for a moment he had hope. For a moment he thought it was all an act, that Casey was never on Valentine's side. That finally he was killing the man.
But then the blade sliced through Hodge's head and he knew that Casey was truly gone. Jace moved quickly with the swordbut Casey knew he was quicker, he knew he could take down Jace in a moment. But his father raised his hand, telling him to be still as the two watched Jace wield the sword, killing his father's men.
He walked to Valentine, intending to plunge the sword into his chest and that was when Valentine nodded. Casey knelt down and placed his hands on the ground. The stone rippled as though someone had thrown a pebble in the water and Jace was sent flying backwards. He stood again and turned, hearing movement behind him.
There Dot stood, only now about to raise the barrier to protect his father. "Useless." He spat. "I have to do everything myself around here."
"Casey, calm yourself." Valentine scolded and Casey nodded, turning his attention back to Jace who was only now getting to his feet again, blood trickling down his forehead.
Jace watched as his brother knelt and picked up the Soul Sword, handing it to his father. "Thank you Casey." He smiled. "Loyal as always." Jace moved and Valentine placed the sword against his neck.
"Go ahead." He spoke, his breathing heavy. "Kill me like you killed my falcon. Prove what kind of father you are. What are you waiting for? Do it!"
Silence echoed through the room and Valentine slowly removed the blade from his neck. "Take Jonathan, kill the other one."
Fighting broke out between the men and Jace and Aldertree as they fought for their life and their freedom.
"Dot whenever you're ready to open the portal." Casey growled and Dot frowned but did as she was told. Valentine gripped the sword as he watched Casey turn back to look at Jace who was trying to pull the man off Aldertree.
"Son." Valentine called and Casey nodded stepping backwards into the portal.
