Mending My Broken Heart

Sadie and Ethan escorted me to my dorm which I gladly accepted. I was happy to have met some good friends. They enjoyed my company and I enjoyed theirs. It took my mind of Zander. That guy ruined my life and he has to pay. I grumbled to myself. Unconsciously tears were rolling down my cheeks and before I know it I was crying.

'No more, no more tears.' I thought to myself. I picked myself up and wiped my tears away.

I changed into my evening clothes and neatly put my clothes for tomorrow on the top of my desk. I lay down on my bed thinking of what I should do and what I should have done. It was already midnight when I let sleep over come me.

I woke up next morning with my bed shaking. Oh my goodness, there's an earthquake. I almost screamed if I didn't hear Ethan's voice.

"Princess, stop it. If you shook my bed like that i'd push you off, it would be better if you were in my bed, shaking it with me." He said cooly.

Suddenly my bed stopped shaking. I sighed with relief but then I felt my pillow being taken from under my head. Now I was sleeping on a hard uncomfortable mattress. I ignored it and closed my eyes tighter to send me back to sleep. But then these two idiot kept bickering next to my desk. They were as noisy as fireworks on New Year's eve.

"Don't get pervy with me Ethan." Sadie told him with a controlled voice.

"What it's the truth." Ethan said simply stating it.

"You disgust me."

"Don't you mean I turn you on?"

After that sentence heard a pillow land on someone's head. That was my cue to get up and stop the fight but on the other hand it would be a funny thing to see. I was having a battle with my inner self to know what to do. I finally did a rock paper scissors until I got to stopping them instead.

"Ok break it up." I said stretching my aching arms.

They both looked at me confused. I didn't know what to do. I finally snapped my fingers to get Them out of their daze. They both snapped out of it. Sadie's mood changed quickly into her cheery self and Ethan turned back to being his little own word self.

"Good morning, Lyra." she said smiling at me.

"Good morning, Sadie." I replied. I walked over to my desk and started collecting my stuff.

"Hey Lyra." Ethan said after a few minutes.

"Hey." I said softly. I was still sleepy because I didn't sleep early. Now I have a class in an hour.

I went into the bathroom glaring at both of them. "Don't you two dare do anything or else."

They both cringed under my glare and kept quite. I stripped my clothes off and opened the shower. The warm water hitting my skin felt so good and I realized that Ethan and Sadie were behaving. I quickly shampooed and soaped myself. I rinsed carefully and started to wring my hair out. I pulled out my white fluffy towel and wrapped it around my body.

I went out of my bathroom and found Sadie and Ethan gone. I was relieved that they were though. I pulled out a light yellow shirt with some jeans. I put on my sneakers with it. I grabbed my school back and went out slinging my side bag which had my phone, wallet, keys and other important stuff.

The way to the school building wasn't far but it still had a little distance. I put earphones on and started singing along slowly to the tuned. I had gotten a few blocks already when I bumped into someone.

I fell butt first on the floor which I did not like at all. I felt ashamed with myself for being silly. I looked up to see an Asian looking man. He had concern in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He said pulling me up.

That was when I realized that I had broken an ankle. The pain was like a burning sensation. Like I was being consumed in fire. When he pulled me I fell unable to stand on my own.

"It's ok.." I said slowly trying to cope with the pain.

"I'm Seth." he said picking me up bridal style.

When he did that I started protesting. Resisting him and pushing myself out of his grip. After a while I stopped and relaxed into his arms giving in.

"I'm Lyra." I told him.

He smiled and said. "So what year are you?"

"Second." I replied.

He nodded and carried me to school. All the way.I was surprised at his conviction. Then I realized this was a stranger. When we arrived at the steps of school I told him to put me down. He did but still kept his arm around my waist.

I started telling him I was ok and that I could manage but he didn't take no for an answer. He still helped me to the clinic. It wasn't far so we arrived there right away. The nurse was there looking worried.

"Oh. What happened dear?." she asked me.

"I fell." I stupidly replied.

"I'm nurse Ada, i'll be taking care of you for a while. Wait here i'll bandage your foot." She said walking to the back of the room.

"I'll have to leave you, Lyra. I have class in a few minutes." Seth said.

I nodded. "It's ok, thanks by the way."

He smiled at me. "Any time." Then he left.

Nurse Ada came back with ointment and some bandages with her. She told me to sit on the bed which I gladly obeyed. She took off my sneaker and sock r hen she put some ointment on my foot. She was careful yet she had some moments where she hit my foot hard. I flinched when it happened and she apologized. After 30 minutes I had a well bandaged foot and a lollipop.

Okay the lollipop was for the kids but I couldn't help getting one. So after I got my leg done. I nodded at nurse Ada and thanked her.

"Thanks." I said

"No problem, just take it easy today Lyra." She replied fixing the medical supplies.

"I will." I told her as I closed the door quietly and rushed to my first class which was my homeroom.

I quickly found it after asking the guard and following the signs. I could hear laughter from inside. The teacher wasn't in I guessed so I twisted the knob. Then I saw a young man. My teacher I guessed looking sternly at me.

"Nice of you to join us Ms. Chandler." He said.

"Sorry." I murmured.

"It's fine Ms. Chandler." He replied. "Please introduce yourself as you are a new student."

I nodded and started to talk choosing my words carefully.I didn't want to give out much so I stated much of the basics about myself. I also tried to subtle about it "Hello, I'm name is Lyra Chandler. I transferred from a community college near our home."

"Hello Lyra, I'm Mr. Cliff. Please take a seat wherever you want." I looked to the back of the room to see Sadie,Ethan and Seth together.

They all waved at me and I went to sit next to them. I glared at Sadie and Ethan for leaving me.

"Hey guys nice leaving me." I said through gritted teeth.

"I'm sorry, we were late and you were in the bath. I was going to tell you but Sadie dragged me here. I told her we should stay." Ethan replied apologetically.

"And you followed her willingly?" I asked suspiciously.

"Um well umm you know.." he said scratching the back of his neck.

"Hey, at least Seth got you here." Sadie said saving Ethan from answering the question.

"You know Seth?" I asked them both.

"Seth is my childhood best friend." Ethan said. "Seth is the vice president,so obviously we both know him." Sadie added.

"Sadie,Ethan,Lyra, is there anything you want to share?" Mr. Cliff asked.

We all shook our heads and continued writing. Until the door opened again. Revealing a very pretty girl, she had dark brown hair that was straight on top and became curly at the bottom.

"Ms. Sinclair, how are you. Where is that brother of yours?" Mr. Cliff asked her sternly.

"I'm sorry, Sir. Caleb is just running late, father both called us to fly to Miami yesterday and we both haven't gotten sleep. Caleb especially, father made him redo our company papers." She said.

"Well in that case, tell Caleb that he needs to catch up. Today is the first day. You have many orientations to attend. Take your seat, Callista." he said.

She took a spot next to me and pulled out her notebook. After a few minutes she realized that she didn't know me and yet.

" I'm sorry, my name is Callista Sinclair, you are?" she asked me.

"Lyra Chandler, nice to meet you." I replied.

After that class we all had an hour off before our next classes so I went with Sadie. As I went out of the classroom, Callista ran after us.

"Hey Callista." Sadie said not looking up from her book.

"Hey Sadie." She replied. "Could you guys help my brother and I unpack our stuff? Caleb's really tired, don't worry Seth and Ethan are already there."

"Sure." Sadie and I said in unison and followed her to her room
