Interlude II
POV: Sephtis
"I am sorry, they slipped out of my grasp yet again."
"Again?! It is so simple. All you have to do is watch them."
"Need I remind you that I don't have eyes in the back of my head?"
The woman with pure white hair stood from her throne. Her steps echoed throughout the room. She glided, in a way, over to a glass case. "Oh, please no! I beg you... Please..." I whispered, trying to plead with her. "I can tolerate mistakes. They happen, but a month worth of mistakes? Well, how will you learn without consequences?" Her hand caressed the glass.
Her hand sharply smashed into it. Glass shards scattered around her. "Mhmm, I've already taken everything that made you weak. If I take these away you'll be weak for a while... but you'll grow. You have no choice in this matter."
Her green snake eyes searched the display until they found what they were looking for. She pulled out a jagged dagger. It had a deathly white glow to it. She made her way over to me. The clicking and clicking of her shoes sent shivers down my spine. "Kneel." She commanded. "Excuse me what?", I questioned her. "Did I s-s-stutter? I said kneel!" Her voice had gone down so low, it wasn't her's anymore.
I dropped to my knees. She strutted up to me. With one hand she lifted my chin to look at her. She brought her head down to my ear. She whispered, "Remember, your sacrifices will benefit us greatly."
She stood up and hovered the dagger over my eyes. The dagger sliced down.
I will never see again.
