Chapter 9
"Where is she?"
My heart pumped out of my chest as a single thought raced through my mind.
Someone's finally come for me!
I rattled the chains and called out. "Hey! I'm here!"
Nikolai chuckled from somewhere above me. "And what makes you think that you can enter my house like this? I'm still one of your higher ups you know. Besides, I could easily eradicate you and leave poor little (Y/n) in the shadows of where she's at. You forget that I'm the Angel of Darkness and could snap my fingers to have your head rolling at my feet."
"Like I'd leave my friend to die like that! I should've never allowed her job to be switched! It was stupid on my part." Solaris' voice could easily be heard and although a small part of me was hoping it was Joshua to save me, I was still grateful someone had come.
"Before I destroy you, may I ask how you knew she was here? I daresay that it was you who had that bird trailing her. Oh well, somethings are just flawed, but I'll come out on top still. As if one measly little bird could stop me," Nikolai said. I could imagine his smug face as he glowered down at Solaris.
She's in trouble... And it's all my fault...
You shouldn't have come here Solaris...
There was a loud series of footsteps and I heard her scream and sprung up to my feet, almost being yanked down by the chains. Pulling against the them, I shouted at the top of my lungs, feeling them ache slightly from the volume.
"SOLARIS! SOLARIS ARE YOU STILL THERE!" I heard nothing but there was the sound of something that sounded vaguely like a body hitting the ground and my face paled. She wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for me. This is all my fault...
There was a loud crash and the sound of glass breaking that made my head snap up. There was an aggravated shout from Nikolai as a low, inhumane growl could be heard from him. It made a chill run down my spine. I continued to struggle against the chains, desperately trying to go to whoever was here. The chains didn't budge before, so why'd I expect them to be loose now?
"I'M HERE!" I shouted.
There was the sound of a vase shattering against the hard floor as someone rushed the other, sending them both crashing to the ground. There were screams from both, one o which was Nikolai, the other, was a male, who I was unable to hear fully over Nikolai.
"You dare show your face here! I'll show you what happens to those who oppose me!" There was a swish of air and the crackle of a fire as something must have lit on fire. Another explosion-- no, this wasn't an explosion. It seemed so familiar, but I couldn't quite place my finger on it. The house seemed to shake from the large amounts of imagination coming from the two males as I leaned on the wall for support. Small pieces of rock fell from the ceiling.
There was a soft voice which I couldn't quite make out, but it made Nikolai stop for a second, before that swooshing sound could be heard, as something came crashing down above me, causing me to cover my ears. Nikolai let out a loud string of curses that could probably be heard for miles, as there were more crackling sounds from above. Someone began to run in a direction, throwing open doors left and right, causing them to slam into the wall. I shouted out again, hoping the person could hear me and felt the choker, or rather, the collar shock me slightly, like a warning to stop.
Footsteps approached the area I was at and the cell door flung open, making me squint at the bright light that flooded in from beyond the door. At first I could only see the outline of someone with neat, angelic wings. But as the person walked up to me, tears flooded my eyes as I held my hands up to my mouth.
"Joshua... How are you here...?" Did the Archangels really allow him to come? Or am I dreaming?
"Hello dear~ About time I found you. And to answer your question, I just jumped through the planes. Not the easiest, but I'd do anything if it's for love~ Sorry to worry you. I hope you weren't waiting on me for too long." The ash-blond boy held his hand out as a light enveloped the shackles around my hands, shattering them into a million shards. As soon as he brought his hand back down I lunged at him, wrapping my arms around his neck as I buried my face into his neck.
"This is real... Right?" I asked, afraid of what the answer might be.
"If this isn't reality then you can erase me yourself." I pulled away and noticed the trail of blood on his face, which was coming from a thin cut on his cheek. I brushed my thumb across, smearing it slightly but still getting the bulk of it. "You're hurt," I said, then fully took in the wings on his back. "I've never seen your wings before. To be honest, I didn't know you had them."
"They don't even compare to yours dear~ You're far more beautiful~" I blushed and was about to respond when I felt a sharp pain on my neck, causing me to cry and and grip Joshua so hard my knuckles were turning white. I quickly let go once the pain was gone, and fell to the ground. Joshua fell with me, holding me in his arms. His violet eyes trailed my body until it landed on the choker.
"Ah, I see that you've found (Y/n). A shame that you can't take that off. Only I can. One step out of this house and she goes bye bye." Nikolai walked into the room, his boots clicking against the stone floor. "However, I can also do this." He snapped his fingers and the collar activated again, sending a more powerful shock that made my body go rigid as my muscles tensed and seemed to lock up. I screamed out loud as I tried to grab the collar to rip it off, only for another shock to run through my body. Joshua laid me on the ground and I figured that I must have shocked him badly since his arms were pink, almost red.
"Now then, Composer, let's see how well you can fend for yourself this time. Your producer is no longer with you to help you," Nikolai said, raising one hand that held a ball of what seemed to be darkness.
"This won't even be a challenge," Joshua challenged, standing up to face Nikolai. I looked at the two of them from the floor and saw that Joshua had pulled out his old, orange phone. It seemed newer though, as if Mr. Hanekoma had upgraded it in some way. I squinted my eyes and pushed myself up, against the wall.
You can do this Joshua... I believe in you... I'm sorry I'm not much of a help...
Nikolai made the first move, rushing at Joshua with the darkness in his hand, practically screaming out death. Joshua reacted by sidestepping, turning his body to the side as he dashed forward, swiping his phone horizontally, causing a blinding beam to appear where Nikolai used to be standing. Black mist was all that was left in his place as he reappeared next to Joshua swiping his hand, making the ground shake as spikes began to rise up from it. Joshua levitated just above it, barely missing the spikes which skimmed his clothing. Pressing some buttons on his phone, one beam after another appeared and in the small space, caused me to shut my eyes due to the blinding light. My heart beat out of my chest as I worried for Joshua's safety.
I opened my eyes only to gasp as Joshua was thrown across the room into the wall, causing there to be a large dent in it. He grunted as he stood up, brushing the dust off of his pants. He dashed to the side and I barely could see Nikolai's mad rush forward as he spun off of the wall, spiraling towards Joshua who had already summoned more beams of light, one of which happened to brush Nikolai's arm. He let out a scream as steam rose from it.
"You never learn do you? My light is very effective when it comes to you. Like fire and ice, really," Joshua commented, levitating to avoid another one of Nikolai's attacks. Nikolai raised both hands into the air and the darkness from around the room seemed to pool and swirl in a black and purple mass that grew bigger. Joshua's eyes widened as he ran towards me holding out his arm as a single beam of light struck the large mass that was ready to overflow. It exploded and Joshua picked me up in his arms, holding me with one hand underneath my legs and the other around my upper back. He ran and seemed to teleport outside of the room just as the room fell and crashed under the pressure from that attack. I noticed Joshua's arm was burning a bright red. He must've been hit right there from the attack. A warm red liquid dripped out of it and I could tell that he was holding back.
"Stop holding back," I whispered. "Set me down over there." I nodded my head towards some fallen rubble. Joshua made another dash forward as the wall where we once were crumbled and burst as Nikolai stormed out from where it once was standing. Instead of going where I originally suggested, Joshua ran past ducking to the right as something flew past him, skimming his hair, which made it move slightly. Joshua ran up into the upper part of the house, into the living room where I saw Solaris' fallen body on the ground. Joshua paid no mind to it as he ran forward and into a larger room, where there was more room to move. Nikolai appeared is a wisp of black smoke in front of Joshua as he set me down. Nikolai sliced a mysterious blade towards Joshua which forced him to back away, and summon another beam which would've struck the area that Nikolai was at, had he not teleported again. Various objects fell from above us and struck a numerous amount of areas around the room. Nikolai grunted as a sign had fallen on him. Joshua pulled out a pin which I recognized as a psychokinesis type, Gatito brand. Swiping his hand the various objects he had summoned in the room all most to one area, entrapping Nikolai inside the circle. Joshua squeezed his hand and the objects compressed, before disappearing completely. Nikolai had screamed and I noticed Joshua's breathing had increased. His battle with Nikolai before seemed to have taken more out of him than he thought.
Angels are said to have an equal power, or even greater compared to a Composer.
I remembered that and thought that Joshua was pushing himself too hard trying to hold himself back. The collar shocked me again and I cried out once again, clenching my fist on the ground. The pain increased and I felt my body being forced to stand, despite its protests not to. The shocking stopped and a blade was pressed up against my neck as I gulped, knowing exactly who was behind me.
"One wrong move, Composer, and I'm taking her with me."
