Chapter 33

"Do you acknowledge that what the witness' have stated in their testimonies is correct?"

Nikolai continued to stare down at his hands, his thoughts concealed before he glanced up at the Archangels through his bangs, smirking as his blood red eyes began to glow. The Archangels loomed over him, as if daring him to say 'yes'.

"If I never did any of those things, then we wouldn't be here right now, would we? If I had gotten my way the first time with (M/n) (L/n) the entire Higher Plane would've been destroyed right now, and the UG and RG would've fallen with it," Nikolai hummed, and with the jerk of his body he caused the chains around his body to rustle, to which the Angels nearest to him were on immediate alert.

"Then as the Archangels, we hereby declare that you are now a Fallen Angel and will be stripped of both your wings and your power, and you will receive where you will go once the final judgement has been decided upon. Guards." The Angels surrounding Nikolai grabbed his arms and cut the chains connecting him to the stand as murmurs began to spread throughout the Room of Judgement.

"Just you wait (Y/n)," Nikolai hissed, his voice laced with venom. "When I escape I'll make sure to kill you painfully and slowly and have Shibuya's Composer and Producer watch." The Angels quickly drug him out of the room despite the protests and curses that he threw. I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding as I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked to see Mr. Hanekoma as he offered me a smile before he walked over to the stand and addressed the Archangels.

"Ah yes, this is about the matter we previously discussed, is it not?" the Archangels asked. Mr. Hanekoma nodded, and the Archangels spoke up once more. "These are the same four teenagers that were at least somewhat present for the three weeks that Neku Sakuraba played the Reapers' Game, and then two Reapers. Of course, he is within this group of teenagers. Neku Sakuraba is also the new Conductor for Shibuya. Only he and the Reapers may be allowed this knowledge of the Higher Plane and Producers. The others must have their memories wiped."

Mr. Hanekoma nodded and was about to leave when Joshua walked up to the stand and interrupted the Archangels who were about to leave.

"Wouldn't it be better for all of them to know? I mean, it is only four teenagers. How much trouble could four people knowing about this place be? It's possible for Neku to blab it to them anyway and they'll get weird thoughts when they notice how strange Neku is acting towards Mr. Hanekoma. And the two Reapers are some of my most trusted anyway." Joshua kept at this, trying his best to convince the Archangels to not erase their memories. I shared a look with Mr. Hanekoma, although butterflies swirled in my stomach at Joshua who seemed to care for them.

The three of us stayed in the Room of Judgement for longer than what should've been necessary but after awhile, the Archangels gave in, and Joshua walked out with a smug look on his face.

"You are the only person I know who would argue with the Archangels about that," I commented and glanced over towards Joshua who flicked a piece of his hair out of his face and smirked.

"I'm just different from those you must know, I guess."

"A special kind of different," I said, causing Joshua to huff, as I giggled softly.

"Are you love birds ready to head back to Shibuya?" Mr. Hanekoma asked. I blushed from that as I covered my face partially as if I was blocking the sun out as Joshua purposefully leaned over to me and planted a kiss on my cheek, ever so softly.

"Of course we are," Joshua answered as Mr. Hanekoma nodded his head before placing a hand on both of our shoulders, forcing all three of us into the RG back in Shibuya, as we appeared in WildKat. Biting my lip, I looked at my feet before I reached forward and embraced both Mr. Hanekoma and Joshua in a hug, who seemed startled at my sudden actions. Joshua stiffened as Mr. Hanekoma ruffled my hair.

"I just... I wanted to thank you both. Even though you both were required to be at the trial, I felt better talking with you both there. To be honest, the Archangels make me really nervous when I have to speak with them, and the Room of Judgement itself doesn't make me feel any better. You two have done so much for me, and it only now feels like everything is going to settle down." I pulled away as my lips curved upwards into a small smile, my gaze fixed on the floor beneath me, before my head snapped up. "We need to tell Neku and the others, right? I can just call Shiki or text her to come over if that's alright with you."

"Go ahead. Want anything?" Mr. Hanekoma asked. I shook my head and he disappeared into the back. I pulled my phone out of my pocket until Joshua set his hand on top of it and gingerly plucked it out of my hand as I stared blankly at my now empty hand before looking at Joshua who placed it on the counter far away from where I was as he pulled out his own phone.

"I'll write the message to them," Joshua said as he tapped down some buttons on his phone once he had flipped it open. After a minute he flipped it shut and picked up my phone as he held in his hand, turning it over, analyzing it.

"Joshua, will you please give me back my phone?" I asked. Joshua hummed, tapping my phone on his chin before shrugging his shoulders, taking a seat on a stool at the counter as he played with my phone. I crossed my arms and sighed, seeing how stubborn Joshua was.

"I don't know, will I give you back your phone? Probably not." Joshua giggled and I rolled my eyes, smiling softly as I walked over to Joshua and reached for my phone only to have him pull it out of his reach. Not wanting to have to do something for him again, I reached for my phone again, pinning his other hand down by his wrist as I climbed over him as I grasped for my phone, my fingertips just barely touching it. Letting go of his wrist, I quickly grabbed his elbow pulling it down as I grabbed my phone, yanking it away from him as I jumped back, gracefully landing on the ground as I looked back at Joshua who was frowning as he rubbed his elbow.

"Ow~ That hurt dear. You should be more kind to your boyfriend," Joshua complained. The bell above the front door rang and I looked behind me to see a familiar group of teenagers as I smiled towards them as I placed a hand on my hip, slipping my phone back into my pocket.

"Good to see you four again. I have what you could consider good news. It has to do with Nikolai and if we have to erase your memories or not," I said. Shiki gulped at the last part.

"Have you ever had to wipe someone's memories?" she asked. I shook my head.

"That was never my job to do. Usually the Producer in the area would do that."

"Are you going to let us know the news?" Neku asked, his arms crossed as a serious expression crossed through his features. I walked back and sat on a stool next to Joshua.

"Straight to the point. About that, Nikolai has been deemed a Fallen Angel, is being stripped of his wings, and is losing his power. That's all I know, other that the fact that the trial lasted way too long. And the other good news is that all of you get to keep your memories. At first, my higher ups were only going to let Neku and then the two Harrier Reapers know, but after Joshua here talked to them for a few, they changed their minds. But since you four know about Producers, and Mr. Hanekoma's true identity, I need your complete understanding and promise that it is to remain a secret. If word gets out that one of you blabbed about Producers or something along those lines, then know that you will lose all memories of the UG, about Reapers, and all the other information that you acquired. That will include all memories of ever meeting Joshua, Mr. Hanekoma, and myself included, even if they didn't have to do with the Game. Are we clear?" I asked. They all nodded and Beat scratched the back of his neck.

"Yo, I don' understand dis, but I just can't talk about it right?" I nodded.

"But why would they take memories if they didn't have to do with the Game?" Neku asked.

"To ensure that there will be no connection left to the Game. The Higher Plane is meant to be a secret and my higher ups take that seriously." Neku seemed to take this in, unlike Beat on the other hand, who looked confused, but understood to not talk about it.

"Alright," Neku said, still taking in the information I presented to him. "Is that all?"

"Other than the fact that we're dating officially now, then no, there's nothing," Joshua added in, causing my face to flush slightly.

"Wait, you two are dating?!" Shiki squealed. I let out a small laugh as I placed a hand on the back of my head.

"Only until about last week," I admitted.

"... OK then...," Neku said. "Good for you two."

"Don't think the way you look at Shiki slips from my eye Neku," Joshua said as he spun around in the stool so that his back was facing them. Neku was taken aback by Joshua's statement as both him and Shiki turned red. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Joshua smirk, as if he knew what their reactions would be.

"W-Well, Neku did say that... that I-I was his entry fee," Shiki said in a voice just barely above a whisper.

"What? When did that come up?" Neku asked. Joshua giggled and Neku glared daggers at the back of his head for starting that.

"But Neku, I think you and Shiki would make a cute couple," Rhyme said from her place at Beat's side. I nodded in agreement with her. "She's got a point Neku. She's pretty wise for her age so it would probably be in your best interest to listen to her," I said leaned on my arm as I propped my head up on the counter, looking at Neku and Shiki with one eye closed.

"I think I have to go," Neku mumbled as he turned towards the door, and exited. Shiki ran after him yelling out a goodbye on her way out as Beat and Rhyme followed, not wanting to linger at WildKat for any longer. I looked at Joshua saw him smiling slightly as he drew patterns on the counter as he had his head down.

"Well, it seems like you've done another good thing Joshua," I said causing the ash-blond boy to snort.

"I just did what I felt like doing, and that was embarrassing Neku. Would you rather me embarrass you, dear? Because I can think of a lot of ways to do that~" This caused my face to turn a bright shade of red as I slammed my head down on the counter, shaking my head back and forth. Joshua giggled at what he had caused as I felt him lean over and wrap an arm around my shoulders and pull me towards him as he hugged my upper torso, burying his face in the crook of my neck as he planted light kisses on it, causing my body to shiver, but I leaned against him nonetheless, letting out a shaky breath as I saw Mr. Hanekoma poke his head out from the kitchen as he brought out two mugs of coffee.

"If you're going to do that boss, then I'd prefer it if you'd go into a different room. I brought out some coffee though. It's on the house this time Josh. Won't be next time." Mr. Hanekoma then disappeared again, not staying in the room for any longer as I grabbed the mug of coffee as Joshua pulled away from me and looked at his own cup as he took a sip from it.

His hand reached for mine and took it in his own, as it was a perfect fit, and I held his back as I smiled and leaned against Joshua, scooting my chair closer to his as I brought the mug up to my lips.

The warm and soothing liquid went down my throat as I swallowed it, before setting the mug back down on the counter. Joshua leaned his head against mine as he held his phone out, in front of us, the camera app opened, and ready to snap a photo.

"Smile~"
