twelve

IT WAS NIGHT time when Itsumi sat in her bedroom while in front of her computer. Despite majoring in Computer Science, she still had her other general classes. In her Japanese Studies class they were learning about folklore. Their project was to choose a being or creature to write about, and despite her interest in the others, her attention always came back to the kitsune.

They were said to be very intelligent creatures that possess paranormal abilities that increase as they get older and wiser. They're basically a supernatural version of a fox, and foxes already interested her. Foxes, themselves, are cunning, a powerful possessor of intelligence, but most of all, they're a symbol of good fortune.

Everything but the good fortune, the parallels between the fox and herself were very uncanny.

Of course Kitsune were popular among the Japanese culture, but the more she wrote for her paper, the more she couldn't help but become every word she wrote. She was Itsumi, but she was also a kitsune. She was a fox in the henhouse.

Itsumi smirks, she was a vixen.

Sure, the term vixen as an adjective was insulting, but she's more focused on being the literal term - a fierce woman. And with the help of using the symbolic take on kitsunes, she'll show everyone just how powerful she is.

She is Vixen.

With that conclusion, Itsumi feels a shift in her reality. It's like everything's fallen into place. Like a chessboard, every piece planned and ready to be moved.

With her newly acquainted alias, the Midoriya girl could continue her crimes in killing. The world will no longer know the name Body Crush Killer, no, to the world she will be known as Vixen. The new and rising dangerous, and equally notorious,  killer in Japan! With this identity she can be as deadly as she wants, spilling as much blood as she could - enough to paint towns red, with this she can truly be free!

Getting up from her spot at the desktop, Itsumi walks to her closet and rummages. She knows it's in there somewhere, she remembers saving it. Reaching between a pile of blankets, her fingers touch the familiar item of wood. Pulling it out, her eyes meet the sight of her old Kitsune mask. She got it when she was younger, a few years ago. The mask was traditionally made of a light weight wood that's painted in white and red, a common mask for festivities.

She got it on a rare summer where she actually spent time with her family by taking them out to a fair. Her mother got the Okame mask whilst her brother got the Blue Devil. But ever since, the mask was useless to her, and she only kept it because she liked foxes. However, now the mask is proving useful.

With her homework done, the girl spends the majority of her time tweaking the mask with electronic add-ons. Initially, there's not a lot of space in the mask, so she adds an obvious voice changer in the chin area. So whenever she speaks, her voice will change to a slightly deeper pitch with a slight mechanical undertone. After all, she doesn't want anyone recognizing her by voice. That'll defeat the whole purpose of being anonymous.

As she does this, her computer runs one of her designed codes as it searches through the dark web. It's how she gets her details for crime scenes or how she comes across links for illegal purchases, or whatever else.

So, just as Itsumi screws on the last part of voice modifier, her computer dings with a find. Quickly finishing, she places the screwdriver and the kitsune mask on her desk, rolling closer to her computer. It's basically a listing, an ad of sorts, like an opportunity to join on a job. Though instead of walking some rich person's dog, this one is a job to kill All Might.

Her heart practically sings with glee, bringing all opera singers to shame. Her red eyes read the link and she sees that it comes from a group called the League of Villains. She's never heard of this specific group, so she's aware that they could be a new thing. Whatever, or whoever, they are, the Midoriya girl grins sadistically. It calls to her. This, right here, is her chance.

To break free from her shackles.

To become the wolf she's been longing to show.

The chance for Itsumi Midoriya to turn into the villain called Vixen!

Red eyes shining, the green haired girl smirks, finally.

THAT NIGHT, ITSUMI steps out into the city as herself. After reading through the link, she did some finding herself. After all, Itsumi had some finishing touches to do in order to bring her alias the justice it deserves. Basically, she needed some shopping to do. The clothes were no big deal, she could get what she needed at any warehouse. Sure, there were items that were only sold at hero based stores - like leather lined gloves with absorption qualities, or a utility belt - but that was no big deal.

That's when her silver tongue for lies comes in handy.

Though, the trouble came when she needed to get her hands on some specific electronic devices and her preferred choice of weapon. By means, it would look incredibly sketchy if she were to buy a large quantity of ring daggers. So instead of creating a trail for the police, she stands in a darkened alley, waiting.

Around her are stores and shops still opened, lighting the dark street with their electronic signs. People pass by her at the end of the alley, but don't notice her as she stands in the shadows, their conversations and laughter filling her ears.

"You know, I'm usually the person who finds people. So, when you emailed me, I was quite surprised and that doesn't happen often." A man states after walking into the alley.

The yellow glow of the bar sign across the street lighting his features. Dusty blond hair that could almost be gray. Circular glasses that look too small for his face. His clear white smile is broken when a top front tooth is replaced with a gold one, in his mouth hangs a cigarette. And to complete his look, he's dressed in a purple, shade of plum, suit with a white shirt, and on his neck is a pale orange scarf since it's still semi cool out.

Itsumi stays in the shadows, allowing everything but her face to be illuminated by the florescent lights. "Well, that's what happens when your the easiest contact into the black market," she says, stepping closer to the light to show off a smirk.

Giran smirks, chuckling. "That may be true, I give you that. So, you're looking for something, and what would that be? To be told, you don't seem like the type to get into trouble," he says, looking at her, clearly noticing that's she's a girl of small stature.

The greenette huffs an indignant laugh. "You're right, I don't get in trouble, but that's because I don't get caught. Everyone's always surprised to hear what I've done, so I'll skip that. What I need is four sets of ring daggers and at least two leg holsters, and throw in a couple of EMPs there too. Probably some trackers as well," she informs.

She steps into the light, giving him a narrowed look.

"Name your price, I have the money," she offers.

"Haha, you're a smart one, saying exactly what I want to hear. The smart ones are always dangerous. And I can see that you know your stuff," Giran grins.

"So," she questions.

He takes out his phone. "What's your name, darling?"

Itsumi glares, narrowing her eyes in suspicion. "Why do you need my name? Are you going to sell me out as soon as I give you the money, is that it," she says, flexing her fingers, ready to use her quirk if needed.

"Ah ah! No need for the show of power. You're one of my clients now, this phone is my member list. Say, if you need anything in the future, you can count on me to get it for you," he informs the young woman.

Itsumi exhales, and stares at him, contemplating her options. Take a risk and give him her name. Kill him, which could alert the people around them, run, and buy the things herself. Either or, the two options will buy the attention of others. She clicks her tongue.

"Fine. A bit of quid pro quo never hurt anyone. My name's Midoriya Itsumi, and if you give that name to anyone, I will personally hunt you down and make you suffer to the point where you beg for sweet death," she threatens, her red eyes gleaming like knives.

"Trust me, no one sets their eyes on this list but me," he says, not affected by her words. After all, he works with criminals, a threat of death is nothing to him.

He types in her name, placing her to his clientele. Unbeknownst to her, her name is directly under Shigaraki Tomura. And unbeknownst to Giran, those two people already met.

The Midoriya girl crosses her arms, "hmm, so, the price of this deal. How much do you want?"

Giran chuckles. "Why so impatient? If you want, I can introduce you to two other people. They've been in this business for a while so they can show you the ropes, one of them's about your age. You could use a friend-"

"I work alone," she says.

Though, they both know the meaning of her words - I trust no one.

Giran raises his hands, laughing. "Alright, alright! Heh. Fine, it will cost you 90,000 yen. I added an extra 5,000 since this is all hush-hush and confidential," he tells her.

Itsumi rolls her eyes, scoffing. "That's fine. As long as you can get me my stuff, I won't complain," she says.

Raising her hands, she takes off her backpack and brings it forward. Zipping it open, she digs her right hand in and takes out several stacks of money.

"I had this saved, and it could have been used to pay off my college tuition but since I got a full ride, I can use it to my expense. Hope you enjoy the dough, buy yourself something nice if you want," she states nonchalantly, handing him the money as if it were nothing.

Giran smirks. "You are a business man's dream come true," he grins, a bit greedily, as he counts his newly attained money.

Closing her backpack and shrugging it back on her shoulders, she crosses her arms and narrows her eyes. "So, we have a deal," the young woman asks.

The man chuckles, exhaling a cloud of cigarette smoke. "Oh, darling, we have a deal! We're business partners now. Welcome to the black market," he grins, satisfied.

Itsumi nods, smirking.

"Alright, then you'll have no problem contacting me when you get my stuff, right," she questions, turning away towards the shadows.

"I'll contact you," he says, also turning away.

And with that, they go their separate ways as they disappear into the darkness of the night. No one seeing their deal being exchanged. No one, but the bright moon above them.

: : : : : :

THE NEXT DAY, Itsumi arrives home from school with exhaustion. Not only is she feeling workload of her classes, but the young man - Natsuo - she met the other day talked her ear off about nonsense. It's not that she disliked people, she just didn't like interacting with them if necessary. She liked her solitude.

Setting her books on the coffee table, she then slumps in the couch, enjoying the silence of the house.

Though, it wasn't long until it was interrupted with the front door slamming open. Opening her crimson eyes with annoyance, she quickly spots her brother entering the apartment with a smile on his face. Immediately, Itsumi switches her facial expression to show calmness, care, and happiness as she smiles.

"What's got you so happy? Did something happen at your school today," she asks.

Izuku gets startled at the voice of his older sister. They always had a strained relationship, yes she supported him and everything, but they never talked or emotionally connected. Maybe because she was always busy working and never saw him until the mornings or in the late nights. Like he said, she's too far for him to reach.

But that won't stop him.

He smiles. "It's just that my class had combat training with All Might! We were put into teams of two and half of us were assigned the roles of heroes while the other half were villains! The task was to stop the villain team and to apprehend the decoy bomb that they had! I was teamed up with Uraraka, who has a Zero Gravity quirk and s-she - and we fought against our friend Iida and Kacchan who were villains-"

"Okay, breathe. I'm not going anywhere which means you can take your time," Itsumi says.

But on the inside, she's smirking. Any information her brother could spill about All Might, she'll use it and send it back to the email she received about the League of Villains. Anything to bring down the Symbol of Peace.

"So All Might works at UA now," the older sibling asks, even though she already knows the answer.

"Yeah, he officially started yesterday. Though, he didn't teach my class since we were busy doing a quirk apprehension test."

Itsumi lifts an eyebrow. "Weren't you supposed to do some sort of orientation since it was your first day?"

"We were, but our teacher, Mr. Aizawa - who's also Eraser Head, wanted to evaluate our quirks," Izuku smiles, not noticing the way his sister is memorizing every word he says, just happy that they're actually talking.

"So heroes actually teach at UA, that must be very useful for the students. To learn everything they have to offer. I mean, that's a clear advantage for the hero class, who will have a variety of hero teachers to teach them different lessons," she summarizes.

"Exactly! It's the best! Like with our combat training today, All Might taught us some really good things," he confirms with a large grin.

"Well, that sounds very exciting, little brother. It was good talking to you, but I got loads of homework to finish, but you know you can always come to me and talk. I'll always listen," she smiles, hiding her malice and real intentions.

"Thanks, nee-chan."

"No, thank you, Izuku," Itsumi grins, ruffling his green curls as she passes him.

Taking her books, she walks into her bedroom and releases a dark chuckle. Tossing her books on her bed, the Midoriya girl shakes her head in satisfaction as she closes the door and locks it.

"Little brother, how foolish of you. You just gave me everything I needed," she laughs.

She walks towards her desk and sits on her chair, turning on her computer with a push of the keyboard. Entering her eighteen digit password, her screens light up.

"Information is power," she smirks, eyes shining with twisted glee.
