Grian walked through the nether, searching for more hermits. If all the hermits were in a fantasy daydream, then they'd ignore reality, and could possibly get hurt. The small hermit kept his eyes open for the others, although he couldn't seem to find anyone in the nether. It was empty, the only sound was Grian's footsteps over the netherrack.
He kept moving, walking through the tunnels in search of anyone, although he doubted that he'd find someone before they got killed by a piglin. Grian just kept moving, heading towards Iskall's gold farm, in hopes of finding another sane person.
"Oh we're off to see the Wizard! The wonderful Wizard of OZ!" Voices seemed to cry further down the tunnel, Grian's squinting as he looked down the golden pressure-plate path. The small builder began to run down the tunnel, the four hermits having their arms linked together, and their backs facing Grian.
"Guys! Slow down!" Grian called, waving at his friends, who kept happily singing, merrily skipping down the path. One hermit slightly stopped, looking back at Grian. It was Bdubs, now seemingly part-lion. The newfound hybrid had a dark brown mane, his fuzzy ears poking out of his now overgrown hair. He had a tail swinging from side to side, the hybrid jumping up in surprise as Grian tried to approach him.
The three other hermits turned around, Scar, Xisuma, and Keralis. The mayor wore a blue checkered dress, a tiny red bow in his hair. He also had glowing red slippers on his feet, which pointed out that he was the 'Dorthy' of the story.
Xisuma didn't look too different, his normally purple armor now a light silver, which was slightly rusted. The admin's eyes weren't too visible, his visor cracked and dirty, But from what Grian could see, his eyes were a sad grey, like he knew that this wasn't right, that this wasn't where he belonged.
Keralis wore a large straw hat, his messy hair slightly covering his dirty face. His hands had gardening gloves on, and his clothes were made from burlap and seemingly old cloth bags. Pieces of straw stuck out of his clothes, and Grian didn't want to know if they were attached to Keralis's skin.
"Scar? Are you alright?" Grian asked, placing a hand on the mayors shoulder, who simply tilted his head in confusion, Scar's eyes filled with curiosity and wonder. He clearly had no idea who Grian was.
"How did you know my name?" Scar asked, although Bdubs, Xisuma, and Keralis all looked at one another in surprise, before running over and slightly bowing before Grian, the small hermit stumbling back in surprise.
"It's the good witch of the north! He's here to protect us from the wicked witch of the south!" Xisuma whispered to Scar, the tin man slightly nudging the mayor, who quickly curtsied before the small builder. Grian wasn't too shocked, but maybe he could play along with this. The small hermit cleared his throat, trying to speak in a regal voice.
"Yep! That's me!" Grian said reluctantly, putting on a strained smile. "The good witch of the north.... and I'm here to....?"
"We're trying to get to OZ!" Scar happily exclaimed, his eyes filled with joy and childlike wonder. "We all need something, and the Wizard of OZ can help us!"
"A brain!"
"A heart!"
"Courage!"
"And a way back home!"
"Right well..." Grian hesitated, glancing around the tunnel, before an idea popped into the builder's mind. Maybe if he could gather all the hermits together, he could find a way to help them remember, all together! "All you need to do is follow the yellow-pressure plate road! You'll find yourself by the portal to the shopping- I mean... by the portal to Oz!"
The four looked between one another before linking arms once more, and happily skipping down the path towards the shopping district. Trailing behind the group was a small cat, Jellie's normally emerald eyes now a pale blue. She looked up at Grian, happily meowing before bouncing off after her owner.
"Ex got Jellie, too...?" The small builder questioned underneath his breath, watching as the hermits happily sung with one another. A new figure approached the group, Grian too familiar with Ex and his dark red armor.
The small builder spotted a glowing red potion in his hands, the evil hermit scanning the tunnel before spotting Grian, shoving through Scar and Xisuma and running after the small builder.
"GET BACK HERE, GRIAN!" Ex screamed at the top of his lungs, the small builder bolting down the golden path. Grian knew there was a portal in Iskall's piglin trading area, but he had no idea where it would go. The blonde squinted his eyes at the area he was approaching, although there was no portal in sight, and in its place, a gigantic crater.
Grian made his way to the edge of the crater, he didn't have a plan, but he needed one fast. Grian looked to the evil hermit, Ex standing by the exit, slowly approaching the small builder, gripping the potion bottle in his gloved hands.
"Now, Now Grian." He said calmly, taking a step forward, the small hermit taking a half-step back, the heel of his foot hanging off the end of the crater. Ex smiled, uncorking the potion bottle and narrowing his eyes at the builder.
"I hope you like fairytales, because in a few moments, you're going to be living in one."
