Grian paced back and forth, the burn-stick flooring of the barge creaking underneath his feet. He didn't know what to do, trying to come up with some idea of how to help the others. The small hermit glanced out the window, Iskall still struggling to climb Stress's hair in an attempt to rescue her. This was all so confusing to Grian, his friends barely recognized him now.
"Maybe someone wasn't effected...?" Grian mumbled in question, a tiny spark of hope bubbling in the builder's chest. It was possible, but the chances were low. Grian knew that if someone hadn't been splashed by Ex's potion, they wouldn't have much time before the evil doppelgänger found them, so he had to work quick.
"Coming through!" A voice called, Grian being shoved aside as someone ran through the barge. They were like a blur, bouncing off the walls with great speed. The figure bounced off a couple chests, spilling all of the contents. The speeding figure had managed to trip over the random piles of blocks, stumbling over and falling into the pile of blocks.
"Ohdearohdearohdearohdearohdea-" the voice mumbled, sitting up and adjusting their fancy vest, their back facing Grian, although the small hermit could easily figure out who the voice belonged too.
"Cub?" Grian asked in question, taken aback when he noticed Cub's large, floppy ears, which perked up at the sound of a new voice. The now rabbit-hybrid turned around, tilting his head in confusion when he noticed Grian.
"And who might you be?" The rabbit asked, moving up close to Grian, Cub studying the small builder, raising an eyebrow at his appearance, which was drastically different than the rabbit's attire. Grian opened his mouth to respond, but Cub held up his finger, digging in his pocket and pulling out a golden watch, his eyes going wide when he noticed the time.
"Oh dear, oh dear! I'm late!" The rabbit exclaimed, his ears shooting up in surprise. Cub didn't waste any more time speaking with Grian, rushing out the door of the barge and out into the shopping district. At a loss for words, Grian didn't think, running after Cub and calling the rabbit's name.
"Cub! Wait!" The builder called, watching as the rabbit seemed to dodge and weave through the streets, before jumping down a rather small hole, disappearing into darkness. Grian barely missed him, the builder huffing and struggling to catch his breath, standing by the edge of the rabbit hole that Cub had jumped down.
"C-...Cub?" Grian asked, still out of breath and tired from chasing the rabbit all around the shopping district. The ground from underneath him began to crumble, the world falling apart below him. Before Grian could react, he fell through the world, sinking into a pit of darkness.
It felt like he fell for days, although it could have been Grian's imagination, the builder holding himself, bracing for impact at any possible moment. After what seemed like forever, he crashed into something, Grian's body getting tangled in a mess of leaves and tree branches.
Just as Grian slumped his shoulders, slightly relaxing after a couple minutes of being stuck in the tree branches. The cracking of wood and rustling of leaves scared Grian once more, the small hermit letting out a painful 'yelp' as he slammed onto the grass below him, pain engulfing the small builder's body.
"Hm? Who's this? I don't remember inviting him." A voice spat in a rude tone, Grian letting out a small moan in pain as he sat upright, rubbing his aching head, which had crashed against the ground below.
The small builder glanced around at his surroundings, noticing the details and materials that had gone into the man-made forest. It was apart of Tango's 'Decked Out', the forest area to be exact. Grian glanced around at the hermits, a few gathered around a fancy testable, seemingly having a small party with one another.
Etho wore a rather sleek suit, the dark red color causing his checkered bow-tie to stand out. He tugged on the large top hat that he wore, pulling the hat over one of his eyes, while narrowing the other at Grian. The Canadian turned away, paying no-more attention to Grian, simply pouring himself another cup of tea.
False wore a golden crown, her legs crossed and her posture impeccable. Everything about her appearance screamed 'regal' and 'proper', from her perfectly styled hair, to her silk dress, the bright red color practically glowing. She held a golden scepter, and on the end, a heart. Grian easily noticed the 'Alice in wonderland' theme, as he looked to Cub, the rabbit hybrid enjoying a cup of tea alongside Etho, or better yet, the Mad hatter.
"This is all complete nonsense.." Grian mumbled, running his hand through his sandy blonde hair. Faint chuckling was heard behind him, the builder wiping around and looking up at a large tree, a figure relaxing on one of the tree branches. He had cat-like ears, his hair a dark shade of purple, along with his newfound striped tail. The lenses of his glasses gleamed in the firelight, Joe laughing a bit as he studied Grian with great interest.
"Everything is nonsense here," Joe spoke, his yellow eyes similar to a cat's, his pupils vertical and sharp. "But that's what makes it so interesting. If we didn't have nonsense, how would we know what makes sense?"
"I...alright, this is getting weirder by the second..." Grian said in a confused voice, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He glanced to the tea party, the hermits seemingly happy, although they didn't know any better, they were trapped in their own minds.
So how do you get someone out of their own mind?
Grian needed to find out.
