❝You Are Insane❞

Taeyong and Yuta went through the house to collect the trash and take it out to the end of the driveway. Neither of them spoke a word to each other, knowing that one step out of line would end up in another fight. They just wanted to get the job over with as quickly as possible.

Though, as they started walking down the long drive, Yuta let out a huff and cracked a smile. "As soon as we're done here, we'll never have to see each other again."

"Sounds like a blessing." Taeyong slowly mirrored Yuta's smile.

"There's something we can agree on." Yuta sighed, looking at the trees that surrounded the driveway. The end of the gravel was nearing.

Yuta approached the big trash container and dropped his bag inside for when the garbage truck comes around. Taeyong did that same.

"It kind of sucks that we have to wait so long to leave. It's just depressing to stay here," Yuta started. He briefly pressed his lips together in thought. "Why not leave now?"

"You do know that we signed a paper that gave us a list of rules when we first walked through the door, right?" Taeyong raised an eyebrow. "One of the rules included to not leave the property unless we are given permission. Even then, we leave in groups with an adult."

"When everyone is asleep at night, we can just sneak out." Yuta flashed Taeyong a mischievous look. "The earlier we leave, the less time we have to spend time together."

"You really think that's going to work?" Taeyong raised an eyebrow to show his skeptical feelings toward Yuta's plan.

"Yeah, I do." Yuta turned and started to make his way back. "Let's see who else is up for it at the house. We know a few people who have admitted to wanting to go home."

"You are insane, Osaka." Taeyong dragged after the excited boy.

Yuta was always up for an adventure, especially if it meant being able to be free from something. It reminded him of escaping his past. His adventure didn't stop at running away, but also taking advantage of people. Yuta was most definitely a player at his school and had ways of manipulation to get anyone to fall for him. They called him a fuckboy. Like Haechan, Yuta also allowed himself to start smoking as a way to feel less broken inside. It's like each breath of smoke would fill the cracks of his shattered soul. Once a person breaks, there is no healing. Only ways to mask the scars.

Taeyong took a different approach to cope with his parents separation and his OCD. Taeyong took out his pain on others, thinking that if he could make other people feel what he felt, it would make it even. His sister tried her best to help Taeyong, but when she went off to college it only got worse. Sometimes it went so far that Taeyong would realize the bad things he had done. He spent the rest of the night crying and unable to sleep. He would vigorously clean anything all through those late hours with red and puffy eyes to take his mind off of what had happened.

He was the reason a kid took his own life. Taeyong will never forget that. Even then, walking back to the house, Taeyong remembered him.

"You okay?" Yuta asked with a confused look.

Taeyong looked up from the rocky driveway, realizing that he had stopped in his tracks when lost in the thought. "Yeah, sorry." Taeyong cleared his throat. "I was just thinking."

"About what?" Yuta spun around on his heels to slowly continue on.

Taeyong followed. "About your plan," he lied, not wanting to bring up his past to Yuta.

"And how great it is?" Yuta chuckled proudly. "We're all going to be homeward bound in no time."

"And what if some don't want to leave? I'm not even sure if I'm ready."

"Oh, come on, pretty boy." Yuta let Taeyong's pace catch up to his before nudging him. "Scared?"

"No," Teayong scoffed, turning his gaze away. "It's just these people are so nice to us and treat us well... What if I don't want to see my family so soon?"

Yuta hesitated with answering. "Sounds like a you problem," he finally muttered before reaching to the front door's handle and walking inside.

The two waited until after Haeun had announced she was going to bed. She was always the last of the three adults to retreat to her room in the basement. Yuta walked around, finding people wandering the halls and quietly telling them to get everyone in the study room.

Taeyong stood by the doorway as people entered the room in confusion. Taeil hobbled over to the couch with Doyoung's support before Taeyong closed the door behind them. His eyes scanned the group of broken teens.

"What are we doing here?" Sashimi asked from the chair she claimed her spot on.

"To talk about running away," Yuta replied. He noticed the expressions turn to a look of surprise while still uncertain about what he was going on about. "I want to get out of here," Yuta continued. "Tonight is a perfect night to sneak out. We just need to pack our things and walk away. The adults are already asleep."

"Don't you understand just how many rules you're breaking by doing that?" Johnny questioned.

"Who fucking cares?" Haechan chuckled, standing up from the couch. "That sounds awesome. I've been waiting to leave this place ever since I found out my aunt signed me up for it. Let's get out of here."

"I don't think this is a good idea," Taeil informed the group gently, massaging his leg. "The pain is getting worse and it seems to be spreading faster."

"Yeah, we can't put all this stress on him," Doyoung added. "Plus, what if the adults call the cops to go searching for us and we're reported as missing."

"What's life without a little risk?" Yuta shrugged. "So, who's with me? Are you going to get out of this sad house and find out what's really calling you in life... or are you going to stay here and rant about what beat you up in life just to be swallowed back up into those memories?"

All eyes glanced to each other. Yuta was the first to declare his decision. Who will be next?
