Chapter 4

It had started to rain.

Sugawara was attempting to soothe Tendou, who was on the verge of a panic attack. "You'll be fine," he mumbled, "We won't let him take you." Hinata was pale, probably thinking about Kageyama. Iwaizumi was studying the map Oikawa had given them. Daichi scooted up next to him.

"We're here, I think," he said, pointing to what Iwaizumi has assumed was their location as well. He placed his finger on where they were and slowly traced over a dotted line that looked like it had been drawn by Oikawa himself. There was a little X at the end of it, in his handwriting. It was on top of a...castle.

"That must be where he is."

"Yeah. It must be."

"I'm gonna go."

"Don't you mean we?"

"What?! I can't have you guys come with me! It's too dangerous-"

"You'll die if you go alone and you know it. And, the entire team has already asked me if they could come as well."

"I- there's no saying no to you, is there?"

"Nope. We'll just follow you instead. Which is even more dangerous, I might add."

"Fine. But we're leaving tomorrow morning. At dawn."

"Fine. I'll let them know."

"One more thing?"

"Yeah?"

"Tha- thanks."

Daichi smiled softly, and looked away to give Iwaizumi the privacy to cry.

"No problem."

The next day came quickly. Tendou was awake first. Uncomfortable with being the only one up, he quickly shook Suga's shoulder, and they sat in silence together. The setter quickly seemed to realize how terrified the lanky boy really was, because he put an arm around the redhead's shoulder and started to rub his back in a comforting manner.

Soon, everyone else began to wake from their collective slumber. Daichi had grabbed his gym bags and Suga stole mounds of food from the cafeteria, with the help of Hinata and Kiyoko. Iwaizumi showed everyone the map. Tracing his finger along the roads and forests, he spoke.

"Here's our route. I was thinking go here-"

He pointed at a spot on the map-

"-and stop there for the night."

"Seems doable."

Iwaizumi smirked at Suga's comment.

"Let's go."

Turns out, it was doable, not easy. Not easy at all. It seemed like the boys couldn't catch a break, because Oikawa appeared by them right next to their campsite as they were setting it up. Tendou dove for the ground while Yamaguchi and Tsukishima discreetly stepped in front of him. Oikawa didn't seem to notice.

"There you are, Iwa-chan."

Iwaizumi's heart pounded. Blood rushed through his ears. Before he had even realized, it, he was lunging at his former friend, who threw him to the ground with ease the moment they made contact, knocking the wind out of him. He grunted in pain, then fell silent.

"Are you ready to give up yet? You already know you can't beat me."

"No!"

"Fine. I can tell you're losing motivation, so here. Have some."

Oikawa snapped his fingers and a figure fell to the ground, unconscious. Sugawara and Hinata immediately raced over to it. As Suga checked for a pulse and gave a thumbs up, Hinata choked back a sob.

"It's Kageyama!"
