Chapter Two

The carriage leaves at dawn the next day.  The bumpy road shakes everything.  The servants have to constantly stop and secure the trucks in the back.  One servant checks on Margaret, Stacey, and John.  For an hour, they rode in silence.  Stacey finally chirps in, "What's in Gundor?  The last time we went, a gross man wanted my attention."  She shivers and Margaret smiles for once this trip.  Stacey and John look at each other with hope and John adds, "Yeah, the whole city is kind of gross."

Gundor is nicknamed "The Trash City" for its dirty streets and poor people.  The only nice part is Gundor Hold which is where the royal meetings are held.  The people who live there despise the royal family.  Margaret always hated going to Gundor.

The carriage stops and interrupts the group's conversation.  "What's with this!" yells Stacey.  The servant from the day before ran up to the window and says, "There seems to be a cart traveling opposite of us."  "You, servant what is your name?" Margaret demands.  "M-my name is Allen...Uh Allen Bones."  he says nervously.  "Allen, please excuse me." Margaret says and walks out of the carriage.

She approaches the other cart and politely says to the driver, "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but you must realize that my carriage is headed to Gundor for royal business.  I'm sure you can understand that we need to pass through here."  The cart driver looks her up and down.  He bites his cheek and replies, "Well, darling, I don't care about your business, while you can parade around going to meetings and sitting on your cushioned thrones, I have to make this delivery or I won't be able to eat this week."  He finishes and spits at her feet.

Allen runs up to the princess and rushes her back to the carriage.  She climbs in and sits down and cries a little.  Stacey and John get worried and stay silent when they both want to punch that man in the face.

They hear two men arguing.  The fighting gets louder and the man on the cart steps off and walks up to Allen.  He throws his fist to Allen's face and Allen falls.  The man kicks him over and takes over the carriage.  He turns the horses around and continues back until the nearest fork in the road.

John stands up in the compartment and tries to stop it.  He reaches out to the man's face and tries to slap him, but the man doesn't move or even flinch.  John jumps out of the window and tumbles out.  He runs up to the front and shoes the man.  The man stops the horses and stands to face John.  The man is easily a foot taller, but John plants his feet and clenches his fists.  The man stretches his shoulders and swings his fist across John's face.

Stacey gasps and curls into Margaret.  John stands weakly and tries to swing back, but the man steps out of the way and lets him fall.  The man saunters away back to his cart and continues on his trail.

Allen runs up to John and makes sure he is okay before reassuring the girls.  They soon depart back on their journey.  The road widens so no more stops.

"You really are an idiot."  Stacey muffles out of her meat stuffed mouth.  John sighs as he leans into a pillow.  "That man will pay once I'm queen."  Margaret says.  "Will you even remember him?"  "Yes, I will never forget."  The carriage goes silent once again.  They travel for the rest of the time in silence.

"My princess!  Please!  Help us poor souls!  Tell the king to save us!"  Are a few things people yell at the incoming carriage.  The people of Gundor crawl and beg to the princess and her friends.

Allen shoos them away when Margaret is walking to the Hold.  They try to grab her dress.  Stacey steps on a few hands and spits on them.  John does the same and they just laugh at the people's hurt faces.

Once inside, Margaret stops the party and turns to John and Stacey.  They're to busy laughing to notice her, but eventually they do and get serious.  Margaret slowly takes her left glove off and slaps them across the face.  They quickly hold their cheeks and Stacey exclaims, "What the hell was that for?"  Margaret slips her hand in her glove and says with a straight face, "You were dishonoring my subjects."  "Future subjects."  Stacey mumbles under breath.

A servant of the Royal Guard runs up to them and bows as he says, "Right this way Your Majesty."
