An Eventful Turn

Tatooine: 19 BBY
Rigger Class Ship
Lesia Mirri

She arrived on Tatooine without too much trouble, despite the usual bumpiness of her ship. "Would it kill Hondo to let me fly one of the other ships?" Lesia murmured to herself as she started the landing cycle.

The ship touched down in a free access docking bay. Lesia made sure to lock it up tight before venturing into the city. Baja had said that Jabba kept his spice in a warehouse close to her current location. The Hutt owned several cities on Tatooine and made good use of their secluded locations.

Lesia ran over her mental checklist. Rent a speeder, find the warehouse, sneak in and steal the spice, get back to the ship, go to Kessel and drop it off, go back to Nikana. It was a simple list. Of course, she didn't expect things to go according to plan. They never did.

A few civilians gave her curious stares as she walked down the street. Lesia ignored them and let her hand fall against her satchel. In it was hidden her lightsaber, one of the only remnants of her past. She never used it anymore but still carried it around just in case.

She pulled out a holodisk and switched it on. A red dot appeared on the map projected. Lesia checked her location and turned the holodisk off. The warehouse was near the edge of the city. She would find a speeder first, then locate it.

Lesia turned towards the nearest speeder station she saw. Several Jawas were picking over them. She continued past them and entered the building. A Weequay was asleep behind the counter. Lesia slammed her fist onto the counter, startling him awake.

"Blast it, Girl. What do you want?" He demanded.

"I need to rent a speeder."

"What kind?" He jerked his head towards a list of available speeders.

Lesia scanned over it for a moment. "The RGC-18. Are its magnetic locks usable?"

"Yeah, they work fine. How are you going to pay for that, though?"

"I've got Imperial credits, Calamari flan, and peggats. Take your pick." She put on a disinterested air and began picking at her nails.

"Peggats are fine." She gave him her estimated time of usage and he calculated her fee. Lesia handed the money to him and turned to leave. "What do you need a cargo speeder like that for anyway?"

Lesia glanced back over her shoulder. "We all have to make a living, don't we?" He didn't say anything else as she walked out. She brushed past a Jawa and jumped into the speeder. The engines purred to life quickly. She ran her hand over the steering controls and smiled.

Soon, she was flying out towards the outskirts of the city. It wasn't hard to spot the warehouse. It was surrounded by a plasma fence and several guards. Lesia turned towards a ridge and came to a stop. She grabbed her monoculars and positioned herself low against the sand.

Guards milled about. Several walked on a small catwalk at the top of the warehouse. Even more patrolled the area along the fence. She didn't see any blaster turrets or wall canons, thankfully. Still, it would be difficult to get in and out of by herself.

Lesia stroked her chin thoughtfully. "Maybe there's a way I can program the speeder to be driven remotely. I can break into the warehouse from the top and deactivate the plasma fence. The speeder will be able to come right to the front door where I'll be waiting with the spice." She pursed her lips, then nodded. "Nightfall."

She slid back down the sandy ridge towards the speeder. Les pulled a datapad out of her satchel and set to work.

Florrum: 19 BBY
Pirate Outpost
Nakoa Sen

The Mythos landed just beyond the outpost's security perimeter. Nakoa stepped off the ship with Oni right behind him. Pirates filled the area outside of the main compound. They simply watched with interest as Nakoa and Oni approached.

A Weequay approached them, finally. "What's your business here?"

"We're looking for someone," Nakoa replied. "We were hoping you'd have a clue for us."

"That depends who you're looking for and who you are."

"Our names aren't important. We're not Imperial and that's all you need to know."

Oni rested a hand on Nakoa's shoulder. He leaned towards her as she lowered her voice. "That's Ryke Altor. He's a new face around here."

Nakoa nodded and faced Ryke once more. "Where can we find Hondo Ohnaka?"

Instantly, Ryke had a blaster aimed at his head. "What do you want with Hondo?" Nakoa glanced around and spied several pirates also aiming at them. Oni's hands instantly fell to her blasters. Nakoa shook his head at her.

"We're not looking for him. We're looking for someone who might be with him."

"They're hunters," one of the pirates shouted.

"Mandalorians usually are these days," Ryke Altor growled. "I'll ask you again. Who exactly are you looking for?"

"Why would we tell you that when you might warn them?" Oni queried. Nakoa heard a blade slide free of her vambrace.

He dropped to the ground as she whirled. A blade flew out of the brace and embedded itself in a pirate. The man went down with a choked cry. Another blade had already appeared on Oni's arm.

Nakoa drew both blasters and took down a few more pirates. Ryke Altor had already taken off running. He glanced at Oni, but she was handling herself. Nakoa activated his jetpack and rocketed into the air.

He landed right in front of Ryke. With a single kick, Ryke went sprawling on the ground. Nakoa was on top of him in an instant. His knees pinned down the pirate's legs. Nakoa drew his mother's vibroblade and pressed it against Ryke's neck.

"Where can we find Hondo Ohnaka?" He repeated.

"I don't know where Hondo is. I swear!" Ryke spluttered. "He's got operations all over. Last I heard, a smuggler of his dropped a spice load over Kessel. Maybe he's in that system somewhere!"

"Where did that smuggler go? Maybe we'll ask them."

"Her ship was spotted near Tatooine earlier this morning."

Nakoa withdrew his blade and stood. He returned to Oni just as she was brushing dust off her armor. The remaining pirates were falling back and barricading themselves within the compound. Oni looked at him expectantly.

"We're going to Tatooine."

"Is that where Hondo is?" Oni took the lead, heading back to the ship.

"No, that's where one of his smugglers is. I'm not willing to spend weeks searching the Kessel System with the Empire occupying every corner of it. We'll be better off finding the smuggler and making her take us to him."

"Her?"

Nakoa nodded and boarded the Mythos. "Her." Oni closed the boarding ramp behind her.

Tatooine: 19 BBY
Private Hutt Warehouse
Lesia Mirri

Tatooine's twin suns were nothing more than slivers on the horizon. Lesia checked the small datachip she'd attached to her wrist on her glove. Assuming she'd programmed it right, it would automatically direct the speeder to her location when she switched it on. She wasn't too worried. Programming things had always been a skill of hers.

Lesia drew a blaster and began to make her way towards the warehouse. The plasma fence loomed before her. She waited for another group of guards to pass before drawing in a steady breath.

Remember what Master Mundi taught you, she thought. Let your senses connect with the Force. Lesia relaxed her shoulders and cast her senses out. The Force was quick to answer. It surrounded her with soothing strength. Bend it to your will. She leaped, allowing the Force to propel her over the fence. She landed with a soft thud.

Lesia spied a ladder attached to the side of the warehouse. She scaled it quickly and pulled herself onto the narrow catwalk attached to the wall. Four guards stood in between her and the way in. She pulled four small tranq darts out of her satchel.

Lesia narrowed her grayish blue eyes as she took aim. She threw the dart and with a small tremor of Force, buried it in the arm of a guard. She quickly tranqued the other three. Within minutes, they collapsed, mouths agape and salivating.

She crept past them and entered the warehouse. Lights hung from the ceiling, casting a dim glow everywhere. There were several guards on the ground. Lesia quickly located the fence controls and deactivated the plasma generators. She activated the datachip on her wrist, just as an alarm began to sound. The guards raced outside and she jumped to the ground.

Lesia activated the antigravity on four spice containers and moved them into position. Muffled thuds came from outside, followed by blaster fire. The warehouse doors were already open, thankfully. The speeder roared into the building. Lesia grabbed a smoke grenade off her belt and tossed it outside. It detonated right before the guards entered the warehouse.

Lesia jumped into the speeder and activated its magnetic clamps. Instantly, her four spice crates were secure. She switched on the reverse thrusters and sped out of the warehouse. Guards were already hopping onto speeders and in pursuit. Lesia didn't bother to shoot at them.

Blast bolts glanced off the sides of her speeder, knocking ajar one of the spice crates. Spice began spilling over the side of the crate. Lesia gritted her teeth and leaned as far as she could. She pressed a button on the crate and a blue seal covered the top, trapping the rest of the spice.

"Whoa!" Lesia ducked her head as another shot sizzled past. She yanked against the steering, accidentally. The speeder quaked and skidded around. One of the guards barreled into her. Lesia shielded her face with her arms as her speeder went rolling across the sand.

She cried out as she was flung from her seat. Metal shrieked and glass crunched. Lesia hit the sand and gasped for breath. She flipped onto her side in time to see the speeder burst into flames. Metal flew past her head and the scent of burning spice filled the air. Speeder bikes surrounded her quickly. Lesia had enough time to glare at one of the guards, before he stunned her.
