Memories of long ago

Bones, strings, arrows, and magic was flying around hitting the 'walls' of the anti-void. Two skeletons were fighting in the middle of this chaos. One golden whit a crown and a bow in hand and an arrow on the bowstring ready to fire at any second. The other one black as night, glitching and whit blue strings flying around blocking the golden one's arrows, bone attacks and other sorts of magic attacks.

"Stop this madness Error!" the golden one shouted to the glitched one.

The glitched one, Error, didn't answer and dodged another arrow sent in his direction. The golden one started to get tired of this cat and mouse game.

"Stay still, you glitch!" the golden one felt his eyes get watery but forced back the tears.'No!' he angrily schooled himself.

Error stopped moving and just stood there, starring, eyelights gone. Gold loaded his bow to fire the last arrow and end the destroyer for good, but what happened next was unexpected. The destroyer fell down on his knees, hands hanging loosely against his sides and head hanging. The blue strings retreated back to his fingers and deciphered.

3 words, that's all it takes to change someone's way of thinking. 3 words that made dream realize, he has been fed a bowl of lies whit a silver spoon. 3 words that made his soul ache. And those 3 words where:

"jUst KiLl mE"

Gold, Dream, lovered his bow. 'What....just happened?' he asked himself. He slowly took a step forward, and then another. The black skeleton didn't even seem to notice him so he slowly walked closer till he was about one to two meters away and fell down on his knees. They sat there for a long time. Error starring down in the ground and Dream eyeing the glitch.

"wHY?" Errors shoulders started to shake.

"Why.....what?" Dream asked confused.

"wHy" Error lifted his head "DiDN't yOU kILl mE WHen YoU HaD THe ChANcE?" His eyelights was gon and tears, not the fake blue ones that were permanently going down his chin, but real tears were running down his face.

Wait? Didn't Ink tell them that Error couldn't feel emotions at all? Why is he crying then? Did Ink actually lie to him and Blue?

"You can...feel?" The only response he got was a small nod but that was enough to assure him. The destroyer of worlds was actually sitting here, in front of him, crying.

"YoU DIdn'T AnsWeR mY QuesTiOn" Dream jolted back to reality and looked at the glitching skeleton trying to get what he had said.

"Oh, right," he thought for a bit before answering.

"I don't know" that was the truth and Error knew it.

"I......guess I don't like seeing people cry....?"

"And something just felt......off" he then said, and that was the truth because something DID feel off about all of this.

"SoMEtHinG iS WRonG" it wasn't a question, it was a statement.

"I'm fine, It's you who isn't alright" Dream answered, obviously trying to avoid the question.

"nO, yOUr NoT" Dream was surprised. The taller and much older destroyer sounded like a kid, not on his voice, but the way he talked was like a kid.

"No no, I'm totally fine-" he was interrupted by the glitch hugging him.

"iT's oK" it was then Dream broke down. All the stress, heartbreak and the power draining task to always be happy and positive. He let his walls crumble and the tears fall freely. If the destroyer had something against him wetting down his hoody and ugly sobbing, he didn't say anything.

They sat there for an hour, or for what felt like an hour, time passes differently in the anti-void. Dream had finally stopped crying. He was tired from his emotional rollercoaster but didn't want to fall asleep on the other.

Error looked down at the smaller, golden skeleton and saw the tired, sleepy look in the others eyesockets. He didn't want to leave him here or let him go back to that soulless so-called creator, that left one decision.

Dream gasped as he felt himself get picked up and carried like a young kid; on Errors hip. He heard the glitching sound of one of Errors portals open behind him. He was scared now, cuz he knew that he couldn't run or do anything if something happened, he was too drained of energy and magic.

Dreams pov:

I recognized the Au as soon as Error stepped through the portal, I was home. And that aura, I would recognize that aura anywhere. But this time the dark, negative aura didn't feel threatening or hate-filled, like the other times I have tried to enter this place or fought HIM, this time it wrapped around me like a blanket and made me relax. Error gave me a surprised and questioning look, and I got why I'm as surprised as him.

We continued up the path that I have walked so many times before...I don't want to talk about that. Memories washed over me as we passed one of the big, Greek-style like gates that towered over the road up to the huge double doors of the castle that I once called home.

Me and my friends playing tag on the beautiful green fields of Dreamtale. I saw HIM sit under a tree reading a book. "Don't mind him, he is so boring" one of my friends shouted and ran away from "IT". I gave HIM a last glance before I joined my friends in their play.

Me and HIM in his room, shouting at each other, I can't hear what they shout about but I don't have to, I already know. "I told you they are bullying me!" "No they don't, you just say that so I stop playing whit them!" "I'm telling the truth!" "No, you're lying!" "I'm not!" "No!" "I hate you!" "Same!" That was when we stopped calling each other 'brother'.

"What are you doing!" HE screamed. "Burning your stupid books!" I shouted back, throwing another one on the burning pile of books. "Let's go, before anyone comes," one of my friends said and we ran. The last thing I saw was big tears run down HIS face as the books burned down to ash in front of HIM.

The sight of HIM, crying, broken and HIS arms field whit corrupted gold fruits. "Don't do it!" I screamed. HE gave me a broken look before biting in one of the fruits. HE started to shock and black tar-like goo begun to pour out of HIS eye sockets and mouth. The goo wrapped around HIM, changing HIS appearance completely. The strong negativity radiating from him made me sick. HE rose from the ground, hate in his eyes. After that hell broke out and most of the ones beautiful Dream tale was destroyed and all it's inhabitants, except me, was killed and dusted.

I shook my head to get all these negative memories out of my head. We were now standing in front of the enormous double doors to the castle. I used to be amazed by their size and, to be honest, I still was. I feared what was on the other side of those doors, HIM. Like they say "You can never flee your true blood". Error gave me a worried look before knocking on the door. A moment later one of the doors opened enough for a skeleton to get in. A head peaked out from behind the door. A young, black and white dressed skeleton whit one read pupil and a red scar under that same eye peeked out before retreating back in. When we got in, the skeleton was nowhere to be seen. Error closed the door after us and I realized how dark this place was. But my biggest surprise? Everything looked like it did back then. Error continue to walk down a corridor and more memories swarmed my mind.

HIM and me, from back then when we still were friends. We were so young and naive. We were running down this exact corridor that Error and I are walking through right now. HE fell and I was there by his side only a second later and helped him up. Then we continued to run, this time we held each other in the hand. One detail caught my eye, the bracelets, and a new memory appeared.

We were sitting on my bed, this was an old memory, we were around 4. We both held a bracelet made of yarn in our hands. Our mother teaches us how to make them. I reached out and tied my bracelet around HIS wrist, I had used purple, black and one strand of gold for mine. HE looked down at it happily before stretching out his hands to put the one he made around my wrist, it was light blue, yellow, gold and whit a strand of silver. "I love it"

I looked down at my wrist. I still wore the bracelet, even after all of these years. If someone asked me why I wouldn't be able to give them a proper answer. He probably doesn't wear his anymore. After all those things I did? I don't think so.

I was broken from my deep thoughts when Error stoped. I looked around and knew where we were, this is the doors to the throne room.

Errors pov:

As I was walking down the corridor I looked down at the small, golden skeleton in my arms. He had the look of someone who relived a happy memory that hurt. This place must bring so many memories, he hasn't been here or seen this place for ages. I started to rethink my decision to bring him here, but then I thought about my other options and this was the best one of them. I just had to cross my fingers and hope that nightmare will accept him.

They are still family, broken but still...

I stopped in front of the doors to the throne room. I gave Dream a last look before knocking and pushing the door open.

The throne room was huge. Big white pillars lined the walls. A big, sparkling chandelier was hanging from the ceiling and in the middle of the room a podium whit two identical thrones, one silver whit a black seat and backrest and a golden one with a white seat and backrest. On the silver one sat a black, tar-covered skeleton whit tentacles. He had one leg thrown over the armrest in an "I don't give two shits" kind of way. When he saw us...I swear I saw something in his eyes I never seen before. He rose to his feet and walked down the podium and closer to us. He halted in front of us on a safe distance. He took a deep breath before asking me:

"Can I take him...please?" his voice was dark and low and surprisingly soft.

I could feel Dream tens up and I hesitated for a moment.

Nightmares pov:

I saw Error hesitate and give the gold dressed skeleton in his arms a look before slowly taking a step forward and handing him over. He gave me a look that said 'hurt him and you are dead'. I gave him a reassuring smile, I wasn't going to hurt him...

not again...
