Sonic's P.O.V.
Our faces were so close that I could feel his breath on my lips, my face was turning a bright red color as I was about to move closer and close the gap between us, when someone knocked on the door and startled both of us.

I jumped back and madly blushed, I was so close to finally kissing him. I was about to say something when the person knocked again and I groaned quietly. "Wait here." I gave him the teddy bear that didn't even look like one and walked to the front door. I was surprised to see Tails.

"Tails? What are yo-" I was cut off by him.

"Amy told me that Shadow's back! And in your house!! Where is he?!" He started shouting.

I dropped my ears and tried to act confused. "What are you talking about...? Shadow's... Not here..." My voice broke as I thought of the bear and how much it meant for me, I guess Tails thought it was because of what he said because he lowered his ears. "I don't have time for this Tails."

"But-" I shut the door and sighed then started walking to my room, I looked around for Shadow but he was nowhere.

I shrugged it off thinking he just left and laid down on the bed. I tried to get some sleep but I felt uncomfortable even laying on the bed because of what I heard and saw, so I went to the couch instead.

I tried to sleep, but I kept thinking of the day that my father gave me the bear.

Flashback

She was in the hospital, diagnosed with cancer, not being able to move or even speak without hurting. I was visiting her every day, feeling awful that there was nothing to help her, to take her pain away.

One day, the doctors stopped me before I got in the room they had her in. They told me that this might be her last week. That was something I didn't want to hear, I felt my heart fall to my stomach, but I hid it and just nodded then walked in, not daring to let any tears appear in my eyes.

I walked to the bed with my ears pinned on my head, she looked worse than yesterday, she was skinnier and weaker, her muzzle's color had faded, so had her eyes'.

I sat beside her and looked at her with a small smile. "Hi, mom..." I said softly not to scare her.

I waited for a minute for her to recognize me, the sickness had affected her a lot. When she finally recognized me she smiled weakly, I smiled back trying my best not to cry. "How are you feeling?" My voice broke as I made myself hold back the tears.

She grabbed his hand and squeezed my hand with the strength she had left. "I have something for you..." She coughed and let go of my hand.

I looked at her confused and moved closer to her then rubbed her arm gently. "Don't speak if it hurts you..."

My mom slowly nodded as she tried to calm down, she panted softly and looked at me then pointed to the bag that was next to my chair. I grabbed the bag and gave it to her, thinking that it had something he needed in it.

When she grabbed the bag she slowly pulled out a teddy bear as her hand was shaking from putting too much energy on it. I helped her and carefully took the bear. "Who's this for...?" I was confused, why would she have a teddy bear next to him?

She slowly pointed at me and started couching as she tried to speak. I dropped my ears and rubbed her back. "Do you want me to call Manic...? Sonia...?" I tried to calm her down but it only became worse, she started to pant heavily as she turned pale, I quickly dashed outside and called a nurse, dropping the teddy bear on the floor, the nurses rushed in the room, but they didn't let me back in.

I had my ears dropped as I waited for them to let me in, as more and more doctors walked in the room, panic being the main expression they had. I was in the urge of tears as I called my mother. "S-Sonia! Come to the hospital! Quick! She's not well!" I tried my hardest to keep my cool as I talked.

I hung up and waited for my siblings as I paced around the hall. I couldn't lose my mother, not yet.

I heard the heart monitor going crazy, the beeping got slower and slower, to the point where it was making the noise that no one ever wants to hear.

I dropped my ears and kicked the door open then dashed to the bed, she wasn't breathing, the doctors were trying to keep her awake as the nurses tried to push me away from her, I had tears running down my cheeks like a waterfall as I tried to get to her side. "N-no...! Mom!!" I sobbed.

I saw my sister and my brother running to my side and pulling me out of the room. "Leave me alone!!" I snapped and tried to get off their grip, I felt a harsh hand across my muzzle, slapping me roughly.

I quickly looked at Sonia, my sister, growling lowly. "Cut it! The doctors are doing the best they can!" I growled back at her, I have never done that before.

"Leave. Me. Alone!" I snatched my hands away and was about to dash in the room, when a nurse came out of the room as he looked down, she slowly shook her head telling us he didn't make it.

I stood there, looking at the nurse with wide eyes, I felt like the room was spinning as he collapsed on the floor crying.

"Sonic!" I heard my brother shout, but I didn't respond and continued crying.

"Sonic...! Wake up..!" I gasped as I quickly sat up and panted heavily. I looked around, my eyes watery as tears rolled down my cheeks.

I was relieved to see Shadow sitting next to me, he had his ears pinned on his head. "Are you okay...?" He said with worry.

I slightly smiled and nodded as I sobbed softly, I was happy to see that he cared for me.
