Shawn

"So how do you feel now that Brooke and Cam are over?" Chloe asked.

We were overlooking the no longer "happy" couple as they sat next to each other and laughed.

"I'm gonna ask her out." I replied ignoring the question she had asked but answering the one she was implying.

"Really?" She giggled.

I nodded watching Brooke and before I knew it we were in my bedroom.

She walked in like nothing had ever happened.

No crash, no nothing.

The only thing she had left was a scar above her right eye and a brace on her left foot.

"I haven't been in here in forever." She spoke.

"Me neither." I laughed.

She laughed as well walking towards my bed and laying down.

She stuffed her face in the pillow and took a deep breath before laying on her back.

"I miss your room." She stated.

"Me too."

"Listen Brooke-" I walked over to the bed and sat down next to her body.

"Hm?" She hummed sitting up and using my shoulders for support.

"Do you wanna go on a date again?" I asked. "Try this whole thing over?"

"Shawn you know we can't." She said.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because you have tour and I have school."

"We can make it work." I stated. "We always make it work."

"Really Shawn?" She asked. "I wouldn't consider the last year of my life making it work."

"That's because I was stupid and immature and I didn't know what I was talking about."

She stayed silent fiddling with her fingers.

"I love you." I said. "I'm in love with you."

She took a deep breath before speaking. "I love you too Shawn. There will always be apart of me that loves you. It would be stupid to ignore it but it would be even more stupid to ignore you. So I do it. I ignore the little tiny voice in my head that tells me I love you and focus on you and how we're friends and how us being a couple is long gone and it will never happen again." She paused taking yet another long breath.

"Maybe you need to do the same thing."

"You make it sound easy." I choked.

"It's not." She said. "But it will be. Maybe you can find a girlfriend someone who can go on tour with you."

"No."

"Shawn-"

"No you have to try-" I began. "You can't just give up like that. After all we've been through. One would think that you have some sort of common decency to try and make this work like it should and it needs to be."

"What did you think Shawn?!" She yelled. "That we were gonna get married one day and have a bunch of kids and that we were gonna live in a big house with a porch swing?!"

"Yes!" I yelled exasperated. "I did!"

She sighed looking down.

"You didn't?" I whispered coming closer to her again.

"Of course I did." She whispered back.

I sighed leaning back on the bed.

She did the same cuddling into my side as if we were dating.

I wrapped my arm around her pulling her close and kissing the top of her head.

"I miss this." She mumbled.

She looked up at me and before my brain could comprehend what I was actually going to do I leaned down and kissed her.

She kissed back and her hands made way to the back of my neck.

I rolled over on top of her and continued to kiss her as Chloe began yelling.

"Shawn!"

"Shawn!"

"Shawn!"

It got louder each time and I ignored all of them because the only thing I cared about in that moment was Brooke.

"Shawn!"

"Shawn!"

"Shawn!"

It was Cameron now.

My vision became black for a second and Brooke disappeared from my arms.

When I opened my eyes again I was looking at Chloe and Cameron staring down at me.

"You fell asleep." They said.

I nodded.

It was all a dream?

"They're about to wheel her out of surgery." Cameron spoke.

I nodded once again.

"The surgeon came out and told us she was fantastic." Chloe smiled.

I smiled.

It was just a dream?

Chloe stood up from the chair next to me and began to walk away with Cameron.

"Are you coming?" She asked.

"Yeah, yeah."

I began to stand up.

It seemed so real.

"You good man?" Cameron asked.

I nodded again as we made our way to the front desk where we would presumably wait for Brooke.

The big doors opened and a surgeon began walking towards us smiling from ear to ear.

"It could not have gone better-" he began.

And for once we all thought everything was going to be okay.
