Chapter 11
Atlas and Will headed to the library right after classes the next day to get started on their research for their assignment which was due in two days. Both of them had caught up on the reading materials on that course and were good to go on moving forward.
Although Atlas was much better at doing things on his own, he was glad to have Will next to him an hour into their research. Will pointed out things that Atlas hadn't taken note of which was mostly due to the fact that Will was slightly ahead of him in their final year. But even with that, Atlas found it easy to talk to him and they joined heads and worked on the assignment together but then separately worked on their answers, typing away at their keyboards.
Will glanced at his watch,
"Yikes!"
Atlas glanced up at him from his laptop,
"What's the matter?"
"I've got to get going." Will put his laptop to sleep and started packing away his things and put them into his bag, "I've got to shoot hoops with the guys."
Atlas nodded.
"You should come."
"Another time." Atlas said, "I'll work on this for a bit longer before I head out."
"If you're sure then," Will picked up his bag and got up, "I'll see you in class tomorrow."
Atlas nodded and reached out to shake his hand, which was a three-move handshake, a shake, a hand-fight kind grab and then a fist bump.
"See you later, man."
"Later, mate."
Makenna headed to the library with Vanessa, and as usual, Hee had woken up that morning with another hangover refusing to get out of bed and get to class which led to another loud music playing on the speaker before she headed to class.
"How the heck does Professor Montey expect us to have the assignment turned in before tomorrow?" Vanessa complained as they walked up the stairs heading to the library, "I'm a quarter way through the reading materials he gave us just yesterday."
"Sucks to be us."
"Nessa."
Makenna didn't need to turn to know that it was Vanessa's boyfriend.
"Hey, Jerry."
"It's Jer..."
"I don't even know why you bother." Vanessa headed back down the stairs towards him and Makenna just kept walking up the stairs with a smile on her face.
"I'll meet you inside." Vanessa called as she went into Jeremy's arms.
Makenna did a wave with two fingers, sort of like a salute but far enough from her face that it wasn't one.
As they'd both left their last class a moment ago, Makenna had two notebooks and a textbook in her hand. One, which was for her main notes which was given by the professor, one of her own notes of things she understood from what the professor explained about and her textbook which she would be needing for the assignment. She was glad she'd taken her laptop which would make her research easier.
Atlas' phone rang just as he stepped out of the library. He reached into his pocket and looked at the screen then came to a halt when he saw the caller ID.
Simon.
He wondered what Simon wanted after all this time. He had literally cut off ties with Atlas after the accident and Atlas didn't have anything to say to him now or ever.
Makenna glanced at a couple of girls she passed who had their eyes on her and were obviously talking about her which didn't even bother her in the slightest. Just as she looked away from them, she bumped into a wall which was supposed to push her slightly backwards from the force but instead sent her turning in a hundred and eighty degrees as she took a couple of steps back which ended up letting her stand with her back to the library.
She frowned as her books fell to the ground and immediately looked up at the wall which she knew wasn't supposed to be there and she wasn't the tiniest bit surprised to find that it wasn't a wall.
Ha!
It was some guy who had also turned from the from and was now facing her, his head bent as he looked at his phone which had also fallen to the ground. There was a quiet but audible chuckle coming from the other end of the stairs and Makenna shifted her gaze to find the girls still standing there, laughing at her current condition.
"What the fuck is so funny?"
They all stopped laughing and skedaddled.
Atlas glanced at the girls who'd been laughing and was surprised to find they were on their jolly way before he shifted his gaze to the girl who'd bumped into him who was already bending to gather her books.
"Next time, watch where you're going." She said just as he bent down to pick up his phone and picked up one of her textbooks in the process.
"You bumped into me." Atlas handed her the textbook just as he glanced up to look at her,
Makenna reached for her textbook and lifted her gaze and was surprised when she met his. Those glassy blue eyes she remembered were not glassy this time around, they were sky blue, ocean blue, whatever you want to call it. But it was a shade of blue that made his eyes look so hypnotizing.
Atlas blinked and almost swallowed when she lifted her gaze to meet his and was met with the greenest eyes, they weren't too dark or too light, just green enough to have him swimming in the northern lights.
"You." He said, quiet enough that anyone who walked by couldn't hear him, just her,
Makenna felt her rising anger simmer down just a bit,
"You."
They stayed there for a moment, staring at each other before Makenna glanced down at her textbook which they held on both ends and snatched it from him before getting back with him following suit.
"Just for the record, I wouldn't have bumped into you if you were looking at where you were going."
"I guess it's both our faults then."
Makenna had almost forgotten about that accent. She didn't know how to respond to him while looking into his eyes or rather, she'd forgotten how to speak. She quickly snatched her gaze from him and looked down at her books dusting off the invisible specks of dirt.
"Whatever." That was the best she could come up with,
Atlas felt the corner of his lip quirk up in amusement just a little bit that it would be unnoticeable to anyone looking at him. He almost wanted to reach out and lift her face so she could lift her gaze to meet his and he could look into those green eyes again. But he settled with taking her appearance in and didn't know what to think when he noticed she was dressed in all black again.
"Do you have something against colour?"

Hey Broken Fam,
I'm not sure you saw the news I posted yesterday but I'm now part of the Wattpad Creators Program and I am so exicted for this new phase as a writer. It wouldn't have been possible without a lot of you guys, so once again: Thank you!
Also, Happy New Month. With all of the exicitment, I forgot to wish you all a Happy New Month in the post. (Please check out the post if you missed it and drop a comment).
If you subscribed to my Youtube channel, then you know that I got a job sometime in June/July. Ever since, I haven't had time to write a single chapter for Broken which makes me glad that I put all my time into it the first half of the year. Recently, I've been playing back a couple of the scences from Broken in my head and it pains me to say this, but I might have to go back and remove some scenes which may/may not change everything else I've written.
That, honestly, makes me nervous. The journey was progressing well, and now I might have to delete a few scenes and edit those changes out of the other chapters. I really need to find the time go back and read through those scenes again but work has me swamped. The days I'm not working, I'm editing Fixed At Her Teen and creating Youtube videos.
Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying this journey so far. It feels like I've been away from these chracters for a lifetime when it has just been a little over two months. I want to know what you guys are thinking, so PLEASE, drop comments!
Also, watch this video where I talk about the struggles I went through before getting my first job.

That's it guys. Thank you so much for sticking around, I cannot put into words how grateful I am for you guys and this community. It means so much to me.
Lots of Love,
Jane Lanett. ❤️
