I don't remember much about the accident. I do remember looking over to see my mom smiling at me from the passenger seat as I drove across an intersection. Then I think I saw a flash of white as a truck came barreling down the road, with us right in its path. I didn't even have time to react. The truck slammed into our car full force. I later found out that it killed my mom instantly. The force of the crash sent our Nissan X-Terra flying across the intersection, where it wrapped around a utility pole, miraculously sparing me.
When I woke up, I felt light headed. I blinked my eyes open, and was met with a wall of white. Confused, I tried to push it away. But I couldn't move my hands. It felt like they were stuck to the steering wheel. Feeling even more confused, and a little worried by now, I tried to move my legs. But I couldn't move them either. Come to think of it, I couldn't feel them. I tried to push myself upwards to try and get myself out of the car, but it only shifted my body into an even worse position. I was struggling to breath. I took a deep breath, trying to pull in as much air as I could. I immediately began gagging from the stench of burnt rubber and the metallic smell of blood.
I could hear sounds coming from outside the car now, people shouting at one another, running feet, and sirens in the distance. I closed my eyes, trying to will myself to wake up, to try and escape this nightmare. But when I opened my eyes, I was still in the car, unable to move.
I could hear the sirens getting closer until it was almost deafening. Then I saw a man crouching next to my ruined window, shinning a light in. I blinked when the light beam hit my eyes.
"I've got a survivor over here!" He yelled behind him. "Let's get the jaws of life going!" He turned back to me.
"We're gonna get you out of there as soon as possible. I just need you to stay still."
I snorted. Kinda hard to move when my arms and legs are pinned in the wreckage.
Then a bunch of firefighters swarmed the car, and I could hear the screech of the door being pulled away.
Finally the door was pulled away, and paramedics were able to pull me from the mangled vehicle. As soon as they grabbed me and began to move me, my body exploded in pain. I cried out, unable to hold it back.
They laid me on a stretcher, and as they pushed me into the ambulance, I remember calling out for my mom. Then I slipped into unconsciousness.

Hello, my Internet Lovelies! It is I, ItsMyKale! Welcome to my new story!
I originally had this idea for another story that I posted, Damaged Goods. But then I was like, "Should I rewrite the whole thing?" Then I was like, "Nah, I'll just post a new one with this new storyline.
So here we are! This is a 100% original story, all my own characters, and my own storyline. I'm going to try to post every Sunday, although I haven't had much other success with regular posting in the past, but we'll work through that. I'd love to hear from you, comment your suggestions, reactions, anything and everything. Try to keep things positive though. This story may be really triggering for some, and I want to make sure that they feel like they're welcome here. I am including stuff that I know some people unfortunately have to deal with. I know everyone's story is different, and everyone's situation is unique. Please don't leave nasty comments about what I choose to add in my story. The main purpose of this story is to show how strong people can be, and how resilient despite their circumstances. If you have suggestions, or you know how something works personally, please let me know. I'm always open to feedback.
So buckle in, sit back, and enjoy the ride!
