My heart pounded as I sprinted toward the wall, trying to find cover. I could feel my adrenaline rushing, making me jumpy and skittish.

A noise to my right made me jump. I crouched down and edged toward the wall at my back. I peeked around the corner, my gun ready. A movement caught my eye, and I moved my gun into position to fire.

I looked across the opening in the wall at my comrade. He caught my eye, and then signaled for me to move out. I nodded my head and slipped around the wall, the man following behind me. 

The sound of a gun being shifted to my right caught my attention. I waved my hand to signal to the man to get into position. 

I looked up to see another of my comrades in the rafters of the building, taking up a sniper position. He nodded to me, letting me know that he was in position. 

I turned my attention back to the spot I heard the noise from. It was silent now. 

Alright, let's see what you've got, I thought as I moved my gun into position. 

Just as I rested my finger on the trigger, the enemy opened fire. I yelled to my comrades and began shooting as well. 

"I'm hit!" The man in the rafters yelled. I cursed under my breath. 

I pushed forward, trying to knock out as many of the enemy as I could. The man on my right followed me. 

A moment later, I heard my comrade collapse next to me. 

"I've been hit!" He cried out. "You have to finish them!" He waved me on. 

I glared at the people raining fire on us. I grabbed my gun, and starting going crazy. 

ZINNNNNG! 

The lights on my chest plate blinked, indicating I'd been hit. The lights in the room came on, and my friends started getting up. 

"Come on!" Malcom, the one on my right yelled. "How do you always do that?" He stood up and glared at the opposing team. 

"I don't know. And how did they see me up there? I wore all black just so I could play sniper!" Oliver said as he walked up to us. 

I just smiled, and swung my laser gun around my shoulders. 

"Good game guys," I said, walking up to the other team. One of them, Bailey, grinned and ruffled my hair. I scowled and swatted his hand away. He just snorted in return. 

"How about Corner ice cream? Winner's treat?" Devon said as we walked to the exit after returning our gear. 

"Man, you know I'm always down for free ice cream!" Ruben said as we walked toward Malcom's SUV. 

I snorted. Classic Ruben. He's the joker of the group, constantly acting like he had only two brain cells, but other times, he could be one of the smartest people I know. 

"It's a wonder you're not fat by now," Devon muttered as he climbed in beside me.

"He says it's because he has a 'high metabolism,'" I said, putting air quotes around high metabolism. 

"Nah, it's because he's too busy running away from his mom and sister," Malcom said with a smug grin as he started up the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

There was a chorus of oooooooh's following that statement. 

"Why is it always me?" Ruben grumbled as he sulked in his spot. 

"You know we love you, right?" I asked, turning around to smirk at him. 

"Yeah, I know," he mumbled. "Now let's go get that ice cream! I need fuel so I can run away from Mom and Tina!"

I don't know why I just did that. It was spontaneous, like most of my writing these days. I swear the stuff evolves. But anyway, I'm really happy with how this turned out, hopefully I won't hate it in a couple days and completely scrap the whole idea. Its funny, cuz I wrote an entirely different first chapter, really liked it, then a couple days later I scrapped it and wrote this one. Right after I wrote this authors note. Just goes to show how much my writing evolves.

Anyways, lemme know what you guys think! I wanna hear feedback, what I can do to improve! I'll be the first to admit that my writing isn't perfect, I have my faults, but I'm working to fix that. Your feedback helps me, and it lets me know that you care enough to help me out.
