Chapter 6

"Now Greninja, use water shuriken!" Ash called.

"Slurpuff, counter with thunderbolt!"

"One of the water shuriken were stopped with the thunderbolt, but the rest hit causing 45 damage. It hit 45 because the water shuriken went 3 times. Slurpuff used to have 120 HP, but now it has 75!"

Greninja - 130

Slurpuff - 75

"Greninja, Mist Slash!"

"Slurpuff!" Miette called, as she knew that Mist Slash was an easy hit for Greninja.

Greninja - 130

Slurpuff - 25

"Greninja right where you are, water shuriken!" Ash called.

"Slurpuff, use thunderbolt on Greninja before he fires!"

"One of the water shuriken's hit, the rest were countered!"

Greninja - 50 (The damage doesn't double because the Pokémon Card says that Greninja is just weak to grass.)

Slurpuff - 10

"Are you okay, Greninja?" Ash asked, and it seemed like he could hear his card, maybe the Greninja is really trying to get out and be with Ash as an actual Pokémon.

"Slurpuff, Moonblast!"

"Dodge and use Mist Slash!" Ash called.

"The attack was successful, which means that the winner of this first round of the Pokémon Tournament is Ash! You'll be fighting a random trainer who wins their first battle like always. Next up, Serena vs. Calem!"

Everybody started laughing, and they all started cheering for Calem.

"Calem! Calem! Calem!"

He looked at me with eyes of sympathy, like he was showing me that I was going to loose. I wasn't. That's not how I roll. I won't ever give up until the very end.

"Go, Salamance!"

"Salamance huh?" I asked, as I saw the Pokémon card.

Time to show them that I wasn't as weak as they thought I was.

"Go, Gardevoir!"

People gasped seeing that I knew Pokémon typing and that I had a pretty rare Pokémon card.

"This will be an easy win," I giggled. "Gardevoir, Shining Wind!"

"Use Dragon Strike to counter it, Salamance." Calem said, not in the role play at all.

"This is for role playing not some sorrow tournament," I called. "Besides, if you're really Ash's brother you'd be more energetic."

"Sure whatever."

"Shining wind, Gardevoir!" I yelled.

"Critical hit!" Professor Kukui yelled.

Gardevoir - 170

Salamance - 60 (Wasn't super effective because of the move's side effect.)

"Salamance, Beastly Fang." Calem said, not energetically again.

Gardevoir - 110

Salamance - 60

"Gardevoir, Life Leap!" I called, and Gardevoir healed all the way back up.

Gardevoir - 170

Salamance - 60

"Salamance, Beastly Fang again!"

"Dodge Gardevoir and use Shining Wind!"

"Gardevoir successfully dodged and used a 200 hit on Salamance! That's the highest overkill we've ever seen in the tournament, with 140 points as the overkill! Serena won!"

Everyone looked at me with shock, and I just waved. "Never judge somebody by their appearance," I said, and left the club.

"Serena wait up!" Ash called.

"What?" I asked, as I turned around.

"How did you beat my brother?"

"Weren't you watching?"

"No, I thought you were going to loose."

"Calem used Salamance and I used Gardevoir, I only had super effective moves," I explained.

"But the bond didn't matter?" Ash asked.

"What do you mean the bond?" I lied, I knew exactly what he meant.

"It might just be a piece of paper, but the only way to win a Pokémon battle is to think that you're actually in one."

"Well I know that, I was doing that."

"You were? That's how you won," Ash said. "But you won't beat me, because you're still a newbie whether you like it or not." Ash then darted off as fast as a Hoopa could teleport.

"Serena!" Dawn called, running up to me. "Was Ash just talking to you?"

"Yeah, he was, why?"

"Ash doesn't just talk to newcomers. You've had so many conversations with him, he must like you!"

"What? No, he was just wondering how I beat his brother."

"Calem is Ash's brother?"

"Weren't you listening to my battle at all?" I asked.

"Honestly I thought you were going to loose, just like everybody else. Calem has tied as first place with Ash 3 times, and it's really hard to do that," Dawn explained. "Ash has won ever since he was in first grade though."

"First grade?" I asked, shocked. "Did students even have minds in first grade?"

"That's rude!"

"I mean with like strategy, of course they have real thoughts," I sighed, rolling my eyes. "I didn't even realize that my mom was lying about how good my paintings were - they were just a ton of blobs of paint."

"Well if you put it that way," Dawn said, thinking a bit. "Actually I gotta go home, see you!"

I chuckled at Dawn's actions, and ran home as well.
