Chapter 34

Play music later!!! Tell me what you think about the song in this book! It means more then just to listen to it, so make sure you actually play it, or at least read that part. I know that many people don't, so I'm making the disclaimer.

2,000 reads! Thanks guys, you're amazing!

"You'll be okay, you'll be okay..." I said to myself as I looked at the heart monitor in Ash's emergency room.

It turned out Ash had a way worse disease than we thought. He was in a life threatening condition that could make him reckless, and even fall off of a cliff to kill someone else. Yes that's right, kill.

"I can't loose you too... even if you may think you're a monster..."

I stared at the jet black haired man.

"And all of this was in fifteen minutes... how could it happen so fast?"

I can't leave him here, but I have to. My battle is happening in a day, and I have to be there. If I'm not, then I'll get disqualified.

The doctor said that if Ash doesn't die, he'll be recovered by then.

"Serena Yvonne?"

"Yes, Doctor?" I asked.

"Ash has only... a 10% chance of living."

"Why? Why did it have to be him?"

"If he came earlier we would've cured him. You see, he's suffering from an emotional disorder, and he thinks it's hyperthymesia. He has been in danger for years, I'm surprised he's still standing right now. The only way for it to be stopped is for him to forget the past, and the only way to do that is to wash his memory if he isn't okay in a week."

"What? Wash his memory? So that would mean.."

"Yes. It would mean that Ash would forget you, his family, his friends... we hate doing this to patients, but when it's the only way it's the only way."

"Wait a minute!" I yelled.

"Yea?"

"Well... have you heard any reports about these people that when someone that they love makes them forget about the memory that it makes them stop?"

"I've never heard of that before, no."

"Well, we can live based off of that instead!"

"But ma'am, you'd be putting him through pain and danger. I think you should think this through," the nurse said, and then left the room.

I went over to Ash's room, and walked in. Some nurses taking notes hurried outside.

"Ash... Ash what do you want?" I asked him. "What do you want right now?"

He was sound asleep, unable to reply.

"I just wish you told me about this earlier, you wouldn't be in this condition. No, if I asked you sooner this wouldn't happen."

I looked at his face one more time, kissed it, then ran out with tears in my eyes.

Later, I ended up in a gassy field, open with no one around. No trees, just a lime green carpet of grass. I started singing while I wiped away my tears.

A.N. To experience this better, think of Serena here. Picture it. Think of a movie - how the movie people move, how they're over dramatic. Think of Serena moving - her maybe even doing dance moves. Please, it'll make this song how I want it to be.

"Crashing, hit a wall,

Right now I need a miracle,

Hurry up now, I need a miracle."

At this point, I was getting into my song, as I was still crying out tears.

"Stranded, reaching out,

I call your name but you're not around.

I say your name but you're not around."

I started running through tall grass that was up to my neck. There was a little pathway through the two sides.

"I need you, I need you, I need you right now,

Yeah I need you right now.

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down,

I think I'm loosing my mind now.

It's in my head, darling I hope."

I looked at the necklace, opened it, and saw the "Never Give Up" paper.

"That you'll be here, when I need you the most,

So, don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down.

Don't don't let me down.

Don't let me down."

I crumbled up the paper and threw it into the grass. I started crying more.

"Don't let me down, down, down.

Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down."

I ran into an area that had rocky soil. I went over an area that was by a cliff. I looked out.

"Running, out of time,

I really thought you were on my side,

But now there's nobody by my side.

I need you, I need you, I need you right now.

Yeah I need you right now,

So don't let me don't let me don't let me down.

I think I'm loosing my mind now.

It's in my head, darling I hope,

That you'll be here when I need you the most, so,

Don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down.

Don't don't let me down.

Don't let me down."

The wind was blowing my hair over to the side, and then sun was getting blocked by layers of clouds, making the world look like night.

"Don't let me down, down, down.

Don't let me down, down, down.

Don't let me down, down, down.

Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down."

I ran back, confused on what I should be doing, where I should be going.

"Oh, I think I'm loosing my mind now, yeah! (Yeah, yeah)

Oh, I think I'm loosing my mind now! Yeah (Yeah!)

I need you, I need you, I need you right now.

Yeah I need you right now,

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down.

I think I'm loosing my mind now.

It's in my head, darling I hope,

That you'll be there when I need you the most,

So, don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down.

Don't let me down!"

I stood in the middle of the green field, screaming my heart out.

"Yeah, don't let me down!

Yeah, don't let me down!

Don't let me down, oh no.

Said don't let me down,

Don't let me down.

Don't let me down.
(Down, down, down)

Don't let me down, down, down."

I stood there in the middle of the grass, not knowing what to do or where to go.

Please be here when I need you the most, Ash. I'm here for you...

"Any clue where Serena is?" I asked, walking into Misty's dorm.

"Nope," Misty replied. "Isn't she at the hospital?"

"I checked, she's not there."

"Give her some time," Calem sighed. "You're the only one of us who hasn't experienced love."

"Fine..."

"I'm here! What did I miss?" Serena yelled, barging into the door.

"You missed nothing," I chuckled.

"Really? Screaming must've came from another dorm, then."

"Screaming?" Brendan asked.

"Yup, screaming."

"So, how's Ash?" I asked.

"Not any better," Serena sighed. "I had to take a break by that grass field before I came back here. I didn't feel right."

"Oh, okay," Misty nodded. "So, what did you do?"

"I... don't want to talk about it," Serena sighed.

"Fine, truth or dare, Serena?" Misty asked.

"Truth," Serena gulped.

"Tell us what you did."

"Fine, I sang Don't Let me Down, and then ran back, crying while I was singing it," Serena explained.

"Oh, that's sad," I sighed. "But I love the song! Who's it by again?"

"The Chainsmokers," Everyone in the room said at the same time.

"How do you not know?" Calem asked.

"Yeah, The Chainsmokers are awesome," Gary added. "We should all do a cappella on one of their songs."

"You're kidding, right?" Serena asked.

"Nah, it would be fun."

"Okay then..."

Days after days passed, still hearing nothing about increase or decrease of progress on Ash.

I knew that I had to keep on moving forward.

Luckily, he did his semifinal battle already, and beat Dawn easily. I just hope he'll recover in time for our battle in the finals, the battle we've been waiting for since we first met.

I looked out the window of Professor Oak's English classroom. Nothing. Nothing was out there, just a whole lot of smoke. Smoke?!

The fire alarms rang, and I quickly took my phone and Pokémon cards out of my binder, and ran out the way we were instructed to.

Behind me there was fire everywhere. I forgot, I have a spare Lapras!

"Go Lapras, and use hydro pump!" I yelled.

It'll give us some time, I'll be a defender and stay back here.

"Go guys, go! Use surf!"

"Thank you, Serena!"

I nodded back to them.

"Hydro pump!"

I saw someone with a Greninja stay back, and someone with a Manaphy.

"Leave, Serena! We got it from here!"

"No, I'm going to do this! It's way worse than the condition my boyfriend is in!"

I ordered Lapras to keep on using surf as the fire devoured the school. I left once the smoke was making me cough.

"I think we have everybody," I explained.

"We got everybody!" Dawn yelled, as she saw me still safe.

We all huddled around, Gary, Misty, Brendan, Calem, Dawn, and me. Surprisingly, all of us made it out. Surprisingly...

I was standing in a black room. No way in, no way out. So how was I supposed to go back to the world?

I looked around, and I saw a vague appearance of someone. I walked closer to them.

The thug.

"What are you doing here?" He asked. "Why are you here?"

"Because I appeared here suddenly," I explained. "And how could you affect my life this hard!"

I immediately kicked him.

"Ow! Why are you doing that? We're friends!"

"What?"

"Ash! Over here!"

I turned around to see Serena.

"Serena!" I smiled, running over.

"What are you doing? Acting like a kid?" She asked, attempting an uppercut.

"What are you doing?"

"Ash! Over here!"

"Calem!"

"Why are we the type of people with a bond?" He asked.

"Because we're brothers!"

"No we're not, we're enemies."

"W-what? Is this place opposite?"

I'm your friend.

What are you doing? Acting like a kid?

No we're not. We're enemies.

I yelled in pain and fear as I fell to the pitch black floor.

"They aren't my enemies! He isn't my friend! They aren't my enemies! He isn't my friend! They aren't my enemies, he isn't my friend!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, and then I was gasping for air in a hospital bed.

"W-what is going on here?" The nurse yelled. "You have such unbelievable bonds with your friends, Ash."

"What do you mean?"

"When you're in that cage, it's usually the end of your life, being stuck with people you care about having opposite effects on them. For example, your girlfriend probably hated you, and your worst enemy liked you. You cared about them so much, your spirit and soul overcame the challenge. I'm impressed. And, by overcoming this, your condition is now gone!"

"Where's Serena?" I asked, totally ignoring everything about my condition, getting up.

"Her school actually got caught on fire, but her and your friends are fine."

"What about my Pokémon cards?" I asked.

"Right here," the nurse chuckled, as she gave them to me. "Those are something special, all wrinkled and dusty. You must love those."

"I do," I smiled. "They mean everything to me. Anyways, I'll see you around!"

I then dashed out of the hospital.

"I guess he's disbanded if he can do that," the nurse chuckled.

Run as fast as you can back to the school. I need to see Serena. Or I can keep it a secret. Hmmm... the finals are in one day, I can live that long without food or water. I'll do that then. Time to surprise my girlfriend.

I ran into a lime green grass field. It looked like they spray painted it.

"Good luck, Ash Ketchum. Good luck."

"The finals are in one day, what are we going to do without Ash?" Dawn asked.

"Sis, he's going to come back!" I argued.

"Sure sure, whatever."

"Fine, once I'm out there and he's not, Ash gets a minute to show up!"

"Sounds good to me," Calem smiled.

"Fine."

"Why are you so negative?" I asked Dawn.

"Fine, I'll tell you. I'm just kind of... lonely, I feel like an outcast, and kinda jealous of you guys."

"What do you mean?"

"You guys all have love - love interests... I don't have any of that. I feel out of place, like a tag along."

"Please, there has to be someone out there who likes you."

"Who? Kenny? That's a joke," Dawn chuckled.

"Well, what's different about you than all of us?" I asked.

"I'm better at singing and writing then all of you."

"So write a song that you could sing when we're battling!"

"Jigg-lypuff jiggly, puff... no," Dawn sang, rolling her eyes.

"Then sing something!" Misty chimed.

"It'll be awesome!"

"Sure, I'll look up something," Dawn smiled.

"Yeah, now we have an act for our show! It's going to be awesome!"

Except the contest, what other plot holes are there? I need to know them all so I can include the answers in the next chapter. These long chapters are hard to navigate. 2,134 words by the way.
