Chapter 33

Today's the day I fight against Kenny in the tournament. I can't loose.

"Dawn!" Serena called.

"Yeah sis?" I asked, looking up at her.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to shop for Pokémon packs before you have your first ever real Pokémon battle! Getting a new Pokémon could help your team!"

"Well I know that people are having real Pokémon battles now because we showed the secret, but if I get a new Pokémon it might not listen to me."

"What if you get Mewtwo?" Serena asked.

"It'll use Psystrike on me instead of Empoleon. Honestly Serena, I'm fine with my current team."

"Well I want to find a secret weapon to use against Misty in the semifinals."

"You really think he's going to pass Gladion?"

"Of course he will! You know that I already beat Alain."

"Right, you somehow beat that mega Charizard X."

"Yup, with my Gardevoir of course!"

"And your Ninetails at the start," I pitched in.

"Yeah well, I'm going shopping. It's not like my sister to not go shopping," Serena chuckled, and hurried out the door.

"Serena, wait up!" I called.

"What? Too scared that you won't be able to win against Kenny?"

"No! Stop acting like the annoying sibling that most people have!" I sighed, and then we laughed on our way to the store.

"Dawn has to win against Kenny!" I called out. "If she doesn't, then Ash won't have a worthy opponent."

"And she will win!" Ash smiled. "Because she knows to never give up until it's over, and she's a strong and independent trainer."

"Yeah, what he said!" Calem pitched in.

"Yeah!" Brendan added.

"That yeah only made the author look like an idiot," Misty sighed.

"Author?" Ash asked.

"Uh... nothing..!" Misty stuttered.

We were all sitting around in Ash's dorm as we waited for Serena and Dawn to come. It's been 15 minutes since they should've been here.

"Oh, I got a text!" Ash declared.

Phew. Good thing Team Flare isn't back.

"Seriously? They went shopping for Pokémon cards without us!" Ash yelled.

"What??? Your girlfriend is messed up!" I yelled.

"What he said!"

"Well I mean Dawn is kind of my stepsister too..." Ash explained, and we all fell back in our seats.

"I was about to fall off of this high chair because of your stupidity," Misty sighed.

"What are the losers doing in here?" A boy asked, opening the door without permission.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Oh, sorry for invading your ugly dormitory," Kenny whistled. "Sadly, I'm going to beat one of your friends. I heard rumors going on that Dawn has an undiscovered sister now. Do you know who she is?"

"Yeah, we do," Ash said, burning passion in his eyes. Don't talk about Ash's girlfriend in a mean tone...

"Then who is she?" Kenny asked, grabbing Ash by the neck.

"You wanna play like that?" Ash asked, kicking Kenny's neck. "Then we'll play like that. It just happens that I'm a black belt."

"What?" Kenny asked.

"What are you? A white belt?" Ash chuckled, punching Kenny between the eyes.

"You did an uppercut against him?" I asked. "Nice dude!"

"Well Ash and I had to learn how to fight against thugs that tried to make us bleed out on the streets," Calem explained.

The memory flashed back to me faster than ever.

"You idiots aren't worth living!" A fat, irresponsible, what looked like a drug dealer yelled. "I AM WORTH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE LEFT ON YOUR BODIES!"

He charged, running into Calem, as he unbuttoned his shirt.

"Stop it!" I screamed. "What are you? A white belt?"

I then threw an uppercut right between his eyes. I then kicked him in the place where his legs joined together, (to put it in a PG way, XD) and then ran off.

Present time...

"Just like back then," I mumbled.

"What did you say? I didn't hear you."

"Just like back then," I repeated. "You're like that thug from way back then!!!"

I screamed with horror, running, chasing Calem away.

"That thug destroyed my life, and now I should do the same to you!"

I couldn't even control myself, my legs kept on running, and my fists kept on punching.

"Ash, what are you doing?" Calem asked.

Seeing Ash like this broke my heart. He was doing it just because he defended me all those years ago.

"Ash! Ash! Ash stop it!" I screamed.

The only way to stop him is to be like him, and that means doing something really stupid. What would be something I'd never do in this situation?

I ran in front of the fist throwing brother, and protected Kenny.

"Calem- what am I doing?" Ash asked, as he blinked out of shock. He looked over at Kenny running away with a bleeding back. "I didn't- I- I didn't do that- did I?"

"Y- you did, Ash. Maybe you should... take it easy?"

"UGHHHH!!! I'm such an idiot!!!" Ash yelled. "Why did I do that? Now I'm going to look like a psychopath to everyone!"

"Well, we aren't popular here..."

"Are you blind brother? Everyone knows us! We are popular!"

"It's very true. How we're letting Kenny bother us is very stupid," Misty sighed. "We should just go to the Pokémon Tournament club, help them get ready. Dawn and Serena will probably be back soon."

"Right!"

"This pack is so cool! Look, I got a Victini! I'm going to replace that with Ninetails straight away!"

"Well nothing can beat my new Articuno!"

I have one of those, but I'm not going to say anything...

"Alright, want to trade?"

"Trade? Why would we trade? Aren't you happy with your Articuno?" I jumped.

"Well yeah, but Victini is way cooler."

"You're making yourself look like a bad trainer to your Articuno. It's a real Pokémon you know. You're holding its pokeball."

"Well yeah, but Victini has always been one of my favorites..."

"Ask Ash, he has a ton of Victini that are way better than mine," I explained.

"Really?" Dawn asked, her face lighting up. "Awesome! We better get back ASAP!"

"Right!" I smiled, and then we ran as fast as we could. "Hey Dawn, I'll race you!"

"Oh yeah? You're on!" Dawn yelled, dashing ahead.

"You won't keep that lead for long! Luckily for me, I have my Noivern! Noivern, come on out!" I commanded. "Now Noivern, fly back to school!"

"Noivern!"

I hopped on Noivern, and I easily passed Dawn.

"Haha!" I yelled.

"Articuno, come on out!" Dawn demanded, and Articuno flew up with Noivern. Perfect, I needed her to want Articuno more than a random Victini she'd get from a trade. She caught that Articuno when she got the Pokémon Card.

"Erggg!" We both growled, evenly matched as we saw the school in the distance.

"Noivern, land!"

"You too, Articuno!"

"...and the winner is Dawn!" Ash chuckled, right in front of where we landed. "Hey Serena, is that the Noivern we were talking about when we had our first date?"

"Yeah, it sure is," I said nervously, blushing. "I can't believe you remember that."

"Yup, and I remember all of your Pokémon," Ash explained, blushing as well.

"Alright you lovebirds, my match against Kenny is going to start any minute now so hurry up and get good seats!"

"Oh, May and Drew are already reserving us seats."

"You trust them? They won't reserve any seats!"

"Did you mean to say Misty and Gary?" I asked.

"Yeah," Ash chuckled, and then we all laughed.

"Alright, you guys better watch!"

"We will!" Ash and I called, waving to Dawn.

She then dashed out.

"You know, it's crazy having a sister you didn't even know existed."

"I don't know which one is worse, getting a new sister, or being with your BFF brother on the streets."

"Ash, we don't have to compare."

"I know, I need to talk to you about something."

"Huh? Oh, okay, whatever you want," I smiled.

Ash then walked me over to a bench.

"Serena, there's something I've never told anyone before, and I think I need to tell you."

"Okay, what is it?"

"I have hyperthymesia."

"What's that?"

"It means you have an extremely accurate memory and you can remember more than an average person. It makes you remember random events when you talk, and sometimes it reminds me of the past, or it reminds me of you."

"And why haven't you told anybody about it?" I asked.

"Well, today when I was with Kenny... he started bullying us, and he mentioned you. I called him a white belt, and it reminded me of a thug in the past.

I couldn't control my body, and I ran after Kenny, punching him after punch after punch, just like I did back then. I've felt really bad about it."

"Just because he said bad things about me?" I asked.

"Yeah, it hasn't triggered as much as it used to since I've entered here," Ash explained.

"Now the next match, Kenny vs. Dawn!"

"We gotta hurry!" I yelled, and then we grabbed hands as we sped into the gym.

I looked over where Misty, Gary, Calem, and Brendan were sitting, and I felt relieved to see Ash and Serena running to their reserved seats.

"This will be a 1 on 1 Pokemon battle! Battle begin!"

"Go, Piplup!"

"Empoleon let's go! Use flash cannon!"

"Piplup, bubble beam!"

I knew it wouldn't work, I knew it wouldn't. Empoleon's too strong, this is going to be a crushing defeat.

Piplup bounced back to me, and I looked at it in it's pain. This isn't me. I'm not a trainer that gives up. Ash has beaten a Pokémon that's over the evolution, and now it's our turn to show our unique battle style.

"Waiting on you, Kenny," I smiled.

"Fine then, Dee Dee."

"Don't you dare! Piplup, spin around Empoleon!"

I needed to ware out Empoleon. If I did that, then I could get the power even, just like Ash did with Raichu.

"Empoleon, hydro cannon!"

"Dodge it, Piplup!"

Piplup easily dodged because of how long Piplup was surrounding Empoleon.

"Flash cannon!"

"Dodge and use whirlpool!"

"Piplup!!!"

Piplup dodged fairly quick, and used whirlpool, which was a direct hit.

"Empoleon!"

"Great Empoleon. Now, use metal claw!"

"Before it reaches you! Use bubble beam!"

Piplup's bubble beam slammed into Empoleon, making it super weak. One more hit...

"Empoleon, mega evolve!"

Kenny tapped his keystone, but nothing happened. Idiot, you need a mega stone, and Empoleon can't mega evolve.

"You're such an embarrassment to the human race. Now Piplup, finish this with whirlpool!"

"Empoleon, get up!"

Piplup's whirlpool landed right onto Empoleon.

"Empoleon has fainted, which means Dawn will be going into the semifinals!"

I looked over at the group, and I saw Ash and Serena exchanging looks. Probably telling each other, "I'll be rooting for you! You better win!"

Too bad I didn't have anyone to do that to. I wish I did.

I waved out to the crowd as people cheered that I was the winner.

Kenny walked up to me, and instead of a high five, he flung his hand over. I quickly ducked.

I watched Dawn quickly Dodge Kenny, which brought back so many awful memories I could stand it. I forcefully dragged myself to stay in my chair.

"Ash, what's up with you?"

"Remember what I told you before?" I struggled to ask.

"Oh no! Guys, Ash is going out of control again!"

I helped him stay in his chair.

"I need more than this! It's not going to last!" I growled.

"Like what?"

"Something that'll make my mind switch memories!" I yelled.

"Uh..."

We all looked at Serena with confident eyes. She then leaned into me and kissed me, and my mind totally drenched away of the awful memories.

"We need to find a way to control that hyperthymesia."

"I know we do," I sighed. "I'm sorry everyone, I'm really sorry."

"It's fine. We have to cure you, though."

Exactly 2,000 words! Wow, haha. I'm planning on making these last few chapters super long!
